Chapter 5: 5-Chaos in the Trial Hall.
---
Despite all the pressure bearing down solely on Su Mo, the surrounding students still paled and instinctively stepped back.
Yet this overwhelming aura had no effect on Su Mo whatsoever.
Absolute Defense wasn't just physical—it extended to his mind and soul as well.
Anything that tried to harm him would be completely ignored.
At this moment, Su Mo furrowed his brow. If the other party had asked politely, he might've been willing to explain a thing or two.
But with this kind of attitude? He wasn't about to indulge them.
"According to Article 972 of national law, the staff of the Secret Realm Hall are only responsible for managing and maintaining the realms.
So you have no authority to question me about my clearing process, and I'm not obligated to answer."
With that, Su Mo turned and started walking toward the exit of the trial hall.
The guardian's face turned livid with anger at Su Mo's words. He raised a hand to intervene, but the other guardian stopped him just in time.
At that moment, Zhang Qi stepped forward, braving the guardian's oppressive aura. Pointing at Su Mo with a face full of defiance, he shouted,
"Su Mo, I refuse to accept this! You must've cheated! I don't believe a mere defensive ability awakener like you could clear the Goblin instance. I challenge you!"
Su Mo, who was already thinking about selling the Goblin King's heart and upgrading his weapon, didn't even glance back at the challenger. He replied casually,
"Whether I cleared it or not has nothing to do with you. Forget that I'm busy right now—even if I had time, I wouldn't bother accepting your challenge."
Zhang Qi's face flushed red with rage. Without a second thought, he drew the long sword at his waist. The blade glowed with a blood-red light as he swung it straight at Su Mo.
One of the guardians moved to intervene, but the other shook his head, and he stopped.
**[Clang!]**
The sword struck Su Mo's back, sparking briefly. Zhang Qi froze in place, stunned.
Su Mo turned around and kicked out with one swift motion.
Zhang Qi flew back over 20 meters, crashing into the trial hall's wall with a muffled **[thud]**, shattering the tiles.
**[Pfft~]**
Zhang Qi fell from the wall, spitting out a mouthful of blood before slumping over, unconscious.
The surrounding students—and even the guardians—widened their eyes in shock at the scene.
Su Mo scanned the room. "You all saw it—he attacked me first. I was just defending myself."
With that, he turned and continued heading toward the exit.
**[Whoosh!]**
Su Mo stopped in his tracks as a figure suddenly blocked his path.
Upon closer inspection, it was the same guardian who had questioned him earlier.
The guardian's face was grim as he reached out to grab Su Mo's shoulder, saying coldly,
"You injured someone in the trial hall and think you can just leave?!"
Su Mo glanced at the hand on his shoulder. "Let go!"
The guardian sneered. "Let go? You attacked someone in the trial hall—I have every right to detain you."
"Didn't you see? He struck me first."
"All I saw was you kicking someone into unconsciousness. You're coming with me!"
With that, the guardian tightened his grip, intending to haul Su Mo away.
It was clear he was blatantly favoring Zhang Qi. Su Mo didn't hesitate—drawing his broadsword, he swung it straight at the guardian.
The guardian smirked with disdain. A newly awakened ability user, barely a few days in, with a level not even a fraction of his own?
Sure, he didn't know how Su Mo had killed the Goblin King, but there had to be some secret behind it.
That was precisely why he'd been targeting Su Mo all along.
**[Thud!]**
The blade sank into flesh, and blood trickled down from the guardian's forehead.
A faint smell of blood filled the air.
The atmosphere in the trial hall seemed to freeze. The students' expressions shifted from surprise to fear, then to sheer disbelief.
They were surprised the guardian would actually attack Su Mo.
They were terrified that Su Mo dared to fight back.
And they were dumbfounded that Su Mo's counterattack could make a silver-tier powerhouse bleed.
Blood dripped from the blade onto the floor.
**[Drip~]**
The guardian's face darkened. He tightened his grip on Su Mo's shoulder, aiming to crush his collarbone with brute force.
But then he realized Su Mo's body was like solid rock—no matter how much strength he used, he couldn't inflict the slightest harm.
His expression morphed from fury to shock, then settled into a deep grimace.
His mood swings were faster than a flipping book—even the best Peking opera face-changers couldn't compare.
"You…"
Just as the guardian opened his mouth to speak, Su Mo raised his broadsword again and brought it down hard.
**[Bang!]**
Before the guardian could react, Su Mo followed up with a brutal kick.
With his terrifying strength stat of 65, the force erupted instantly, sending the guardian flying into the wall with a cloud of dust.
**[Boom!]**
From the smoke, a figure shot out at blinding speed—so fast Su Mo couldn't even make out their appearance before they were right in front of him.
"You're courting death!"
"Stop!"
**[Bang!]**
Su Mo braced himself to be sent flying, but in the next moment, the other guardian stepped in front of him, blocking the attack.
"Zhang Chen, have you lost your mind?! Attacking a student here? Even the Zhang family behind you can't protect you from this! You might not care about your life, but I do!"
Zhang Chen's face twisted with madness as he struggled to break through the blockade, roaring,
"Get out of my way! I'm going to kill this little brat today!"
"Heh, the Secret Realm Hall sure has some guts. A silver-tier hall guardian attacking an ordinary student who's only been awakened for three days?
Tell me, is this courage from the Secret Realm Hall or from the Zhang family backing you?!"
**[Boom!]**
As the voice fell, no figure appeared—only a flash of golden light. In the next instant, Zhang Chen was sent flying, crashing into the wall.
Mysterious runes flickered on the trial hall's walls before shattering.
**[Rumble!]**
The wall collapsed, bricks tumbling down and kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
In midair, the golden light slowly faded, revealing the figure at last.
It was a balding man in his fifties, dressed in a Mao suit, hovering in the air.
A faint golden glow lent him an aura of majesty and dominance—even his bald head seemed somehow sacred.
Every student who recognized him gasped in shock.
This was the security guard from the school gate!
The old security guard descended slowly, landing beside Su Mo.
His stern expression softened into a kind, approachable smile.
"Not bad, kid. Taking down the Goblin King solo at level 3? You've got some of the same flair I had back in my day."
Forget the others—Su Mo himself was still reeling in disbelief.
He'd snuck out of school plenty of times when the old guard wasn't paying attention.
It was only recently, after awakening, that he stopped needing to sneak.
And now you're telling him the old man napping in the security booth was a golden-tier powerhouse?!
