Chapter 13: Injury is always unexpected
With this, he could finally use Soul Blast as many times as he wants without worrying about running of souls from his inventory. The three-headed snake spat out venomous saliva, which Azrael dodged using Soul Traversal. He quickly followed up with a Soul Blast right after exiting his traversal state. This landed on the three-headed snake, agitating it. Azrael quickly used S. Traversal (Soul Traversal) again. Right when the snake was distracted, a powerful wind blade was released by the alpha wolf, tearing through the snake's skin, spilling its green blood.
Agitated, it let out a powerful whiplash to the ground, cracking it and causing a major earthquake in the cave. Skeletons were shaken and flung aside because of this. After that, Azrael exited his S. Traversal state again to release a powerful Soul Blast. Concentrating so much soul energy and consuming them to let out a powerful attack, Azrael unleashed a deadly Soul Blast strike. This incinerated the three-headed snake, immediately cutting—burning it in half. As the snake's body dropped dead, the scorpion monsters and the spider monsters continued to attack.
"What a powerful attack, Master," the wolf leader said.
"Now that the boss is dead, we won't have a hard time killing the small fries," Azrael said.
"About that—" the wolf leader began when a powerful scream echoed through the cave's chamber.
"What was that about?" Azrael asked.
"That three-headed snake is just a small fry too, Master," the wolf leader said.
"WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!!" Azrael exclaimed as a strong gust of wind swept through the cave. The wolf leader quickly cast a spell to protect Azrael and the skeletons, making them unaffected by the wind.
A BIG BAT EMERGED from the shadows, screaming again and stunning every monster in the cave.
//===System Warning: A strong opponent is nearby!===\\
(Ack, even the system is warning about this giant bat.)
"Hey, Wolf Leader, from now on I'm gonna call you Sibat, okay?" Azrael said as he looked at the Wolf Leader.
"That was too sudden, Master, but I'll gladly accept," the Wolf Leader said as he willingly accepted his newly appointed name.
"Sibat, can you charge up a powerful attack? Any attack will do, I'll try to take away this giant bat's attention " Azrael asked.
"Yes, I can, Master," Sibat said while Azrael entered his soul traversal state. Right after that, Sibat opened his mouth, and it started to emit light with electric discharge.
The giant bat unleashed a strong gust of wind to cancel Sibat's attack, but due to the shield, he was unstaggerable.
The giant bat retorted with a powerful howl, releasing strong dark magic to destroy the shield, but it was still not powerful enough. Just as the giant bat tried to make a follow-up attack, Azrael appeared behind it, leaving his soul traversal state, and unleashed a powerful soul blast. After landing, he unleashed another soul blast to catch the giant bat's attention. When the giant bat looked back, Azrael immediately reentered his soul traversal state to quickly reposition and reappear again on the giant bat's left side. He unleashed another soul blast attack. Just as the giant bat looked again, Azrael was gone, reentering his soul traversal state once more.
This caused major agitation in the giant bat. The environment suddenly became electrifying as strong gusts of wind with electric energy particles gathered in the air. Sibat's attack was almost charged up.
Azrael attempted another distraction, but the bat's wing lashed out right after he exits his traversal state, without blinking an eye it sent him crashing unto the cave wall slowly drifting down because of the impact. The skeletons were stunned and wanted to help their master, but they couldn't because they were busy fending off the giant army of scorpions and spiders.
(What was that just now?) Azrael thought as he was deeply hurt, every part of his body is hurting because of this. His vision blurred, and he spat blood from his mouth, and his ears ringing from the attack. As soon as he looked back, he saw Sibat, the Wolf Leader, going toe-to-toe with the giant bat.
Sibat had been caught off guard while charging the electric energy ball Azrael had requested. Seeing Azrael hurt, he released the energy prematurely.
The attack hit the bat directly but didn't deal massive damage.
Sibat immediately rushed forward, slashing the bat's body with his sharp claws. The bat let out a scream of pain and propelled itself away with powerful wingbeats to create distance.
Following up, the giant bat released a wind blade to distract Sibat and followed with a dark magic attack that the Wolf Leader couldn't dodge.
Meanwhile, still recovering, Azrael sat against the wall, only to be approached by a giant spider. "KYEEEEK," the spider screeched, lunging at him.
Out of nowhere, a magic attack struck the spider, killing it instantly. It was Sibat, keeping an eye on Azrael even after being hit by the dark magic.
"Urkkk... It hurts. I need to stand up," Azrael muttered, struggling to his feet.
He re-entered his soul traversal state to escape the danger.
Sibat was relieved to see his master out of harm's way, allowing him to focus on the fight against the giant bat.
