Chapter 14: What a tough skin!
Azrael exited his soul traversal state and sat down at the backline as his skeletons and Sibat continued to fend off the monsters.
"Okay, I just need a moment. That hurt so bad," Azrael muttered, catching his breath from the impact of the attack.
He opened his status window:

System Warning:
You took a direct hit from a monster. Be careful next time!

"Be careful? What do you mean, be careful? That bat is ridiculously strong!" Azrael grumbled in frustration.
"When can I get some new skills? I'm already level 35," he added with a sigh.
He paused, noticing something unusual. "The pain's already gone? That's odd... I don't even have any skills that lets me regenerate quickly. Whatever, I'll just help to finish this bat."
Reentering his soul traversal state, Azrael prepared for another attack.
The giant bat swung its wings, hitting Sibat hard and sending him stumbling to the side. Following up with a wind blade aimed to sever Sibat, the Wolf Leader's sharp reflexes saved him as he dodged effortlessly. In midair, Sibat released a glowing energy ball aimed directly at the bat.
The attack connected, but the giant bat's high endurance made it seem unfazed. It moved swiftly, blinking close to Sibat and slashing with its feet claws. Sibat was deeply wounded, struggling to recover before being flung against the cave wall by another wing strike.
Dust filled the area, obscuring visibility. The bat flustered lets out a scream of panic "kyeeeeek" because of a green light suddenly pierced through the smoke as Azrael unleashed a soul blast, catching the bat off guard and be off it's balance. Two skeleton warriors rushed forward, slashing the bat and wounding it further. Azrael reappeared behind the bat, launching another soul blast before slipping back into his soul traversal state again.
The bat then flung its wings, forcing the skeleton warriors to flew away. The bat then tactically recognized Azrael's attack patterns, hoping to inflict the same damage it had on him earlier. Using echolocation to detect and track Azrael's movements as he exited his traversal state, the bat prepared to strike. Before it could launch its attack, Sibat pounced on the bat, sinking his teeth into its neck and distracting it, tightening it's grip. The remaining skeleton warriors seized the opportunity, closing in and slashing at the bat's tough skin relentlessly.
In desperation to get away, the giant bat flapped its wing so powerful it unleashes a dark magic surge, sending Sibat flying and destroying the skeletons.
Azrael exits from his traversal state, forming a finger gun gesture and releasing a massive soul blast the size of the bat itself.

The blast hit the bat directly, along with several nearby monsters, including spiders and scorpions. The cave trembled violently, rocks shattering and falling like glass. Dust clouded the area as the cave's structure began to give way.
"Master, the cave is about to collapse! We need to get out of here!" Sibat warned, sprinting toward Azrael.
"Why isn't the system confirming its death? Don't tell me it's still alive after all that!" Azrael exclaimed.
"Master, I can still sense it. It's not dead yet, but we must leave," Sibat insisted, offering Azrael a ride. Azrael quickly mounted him.
Meanwhile, the remaining skeletons continued battling the endless wave of monsters, unfazed by the collapsing cave since the debris couldn't harm them.
As they fled, a dark magic ball surged toward Azrael and Sibat. Sibat, quick on his feet, dodged it and warned, "Master, hold on tight! This bat is persistent!"
Dark magic homing attacks shaped lime a cone followed, chasing them down. Azrael countered with soul blasts to fend off the attacks, but the bat moved swiftly, determined to finish them.
Out of options, Sibat used his trump card. "Master, hold on tightly!" he warned. A deafening sonic wave erupted, throwing the bat backward and propelling them forward at incredible speed.
Exhausted and slightly dizzy from Sibat's skill, Azrael held on very tight as they reached the cave's entrance, where Sibat's subordinate wolves awaited them.
"Guard this entrance. If any monsters try to escape, kill them or hold them off. If you can't handle it, retreat immediately," Sibat ordered before sprinting away from the cave with Azrael on his back.
"What do you mean, let them guard the cave's entrance? What if that giant bat kills them?" Azrael questioned, concern in his voice.
"I trust them, Master. They can handle it and buy us some time. We just need to reach a certain place I know," Sibat replied confidently as he continued running at a steady pace, though not as fast as during their escape from the bat in the cave.
"What place?" Azrael asked, still uneasy.
"It's a place where we can recover and strengthen our mana further," Sibat answered, his tone resolute.
