Chapter 54
“By the way, I ended up signing up for a golf tournament.”
I suddenly changed the topic and informed them about the tournament.
“Emma, please arrange for a coach.”
There wasn’t even the slightest sign of surprise at my abrupt change in conversation.
“Understood. The practice facility is located inside The Venetian Macao, so you may use it there. We’ll have an athletic food specialist plan your meals as well.”
“That sounds good. What about the filming crew?”
“Everything is being taken care of.”
Before I could even get another word in, things escalated, and decisions were being made left and right.
“Wait a minute!!! It’s just a local amateur tournament!!!”
“Come on, Akira, this is your big moment! There’s no way I’m missing this—I’ll definitely be there to cheer you on!!!!”
“That’s right, Boss. Since our leader is competing, we have no choice but to give it our all as well. They say even the mighty lion hunts a mere rabbit with its full strength.”
I was completely overwhelmed by their enthusiasm.
However, since this was my first tournament, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to be overprepared. So, I decided to accept their support.
“O-okay… I’m not entirely convinced, but thanks. I’ll be counting on you guys.”
“”Leave it to us!!!””
By the time we arrived at The Venetian Macao, the staff had already started unloading our luggage and carrying it to the room. We followed them inside.
I changed into a suit in the dressing room and stepped into the living area, where the executives had already gathered.
We all moved to the conference room (which was technically just a large meeting space we used as one), with Hitomi and Emma accompanying me. There, I received various reports and responded with my thoughts and advice.
After about two hours, the meeting concluded. Emma returned to her duties, leaving just me and Hitomi in the room.
“Akira, you actually do a pretty good job acting like a CEO! You looked kind of cool!”
“What do you mean ‘acting like’? I do put serious thought into all of this. And besides, you had some pretty spot-on comments yourself.”
“Well, I am a lady of status, after all. I’m smart. And I’ve studied quite a bit to be of help to you.”
“Thanks… That actually means a lot. Okay, let’s stop, this is getting embarrassing.”
Hitomi’s words made me smile sheepishly. To shake off the awkwardness, I decided to change the subject.
“S-so anyway, you were saying—oh yeah, the golf tournament!”
Maybe she felt a bit embarrassed too, because she quickly jumped on the change of topic.
“Yeah, I somehow ended up signing up for it. Just the way things played out.”
“Well, it makes sense. You are really good at golf.”
“I don’t really feel that way myself… but since I’m competing, I might as well give it my all!”
“That’s the spirit!”
Just then, Emma returned to the room.
“Boss, the coach has been arranged. They’ll start training with you tomorrow.
I also secured the Macau Golf and Country Club, where the Macau Open is held every year. I figured you’d need to get used to the course.”
“That’s excellent. Emma, we’ll be going to watch as well.”
“Understood, Lady Hitomi.”
All I could do was nod.
Emma delivered her report and promptly left the room.
After that, I took Hitomi to the hotel restaurant, where we talked over dinner. I filled her in on everything that had happened so far.
“Wow. I didn’t know stuff like that even happens. That’s crazy.”
“Honestly, I don’t really get it either. But somehow, I ended up in this position. Still, I finally have a clear goal in mind, and I’m working towards it.”
“What’s your goal?”
“I want to make this hotel and casino real.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“On the surface, this place looks fancy, but doesn’t it feel kind of cheap? That’s why I want to shift towards a more authentic luxury experience—upgrading the amenities, furniture, internet speed, everything.”
“That actually makes sense. Now that you mention it, the Wi-Fi here is surprisingly strong for an overseas hotel. I think that’s a great idea.”
“Thanks. If you ever notice anything else, let me know.”
“Of course! Leave it to me!”
We ended up talking for so long that by the time we returned to our rooms, it was already past midnight.
Since it had been a while since we last saw each other, let’s just say… the night got quite heated. Or maybe it didn’t. Who’s to say?
