I Suddenly Became Rich, But I Have No Idea How to Spend the Money

Chapter 53

Since I had gone to bed relatively early the previous night, I woke up at 6 AM.

Surprisingly, I felt completely refreshed, so much so that I didn’t even consider going back to sleep.

Taking advantage of the early start, I decided to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

The buffet-style breakfast was impeccable, satisfying all five senses completely.

After finishing breakfast, I took a shower in my room. Even though there was still plenty of time before check-out, I packed my things and checked out early.

After retrieving my luggage, I left the hotel and headed straight for Itami Airport. At the private jet counter, I had all my belongings loaded onto the plane and then made my way to the golf practice range.

I always keep my golf equipment in my car. Yesterday, I debated whether to unload it at home since I had a lot of luggage, but in the end, I managed to keep it in the car.

My go-to practice range is a large, 24-hour facility located in Suminoe. It offers extensive amenities, including a training room and shower facilities.

Upon arriving, I retrieved my golf bag and shoe bag from the back seat and headed for the hitting area.

As I was checking in at the counter, one of the personal trainers from the training room called out.

“Oh, Kirishima-san, you’re here early today!”

“I just happened to have some free time earlier than usual,” I replied with a smile.

I only recently started taking golf seriously, but I first held a club when I was four years old. Because of that, my swing is relatively polished for a beginner, and I pick things up quickly. The staff at the practice range already regard me as quite skilled.

Since he was free, the personal trainer who had greeted me earlier, Nishikawa-san, decided to coach me for about two hours.

“Kirishima-san, you’ve really improved.

It might be time to switch clubs.

I think your shaft isn’t keeping up with your swing speed anymore.”

“Really? I have felt like my timing has been slightly off lately.”

“Let’s measure it and see.”

With that, Nishikawa-san led me to the fitting room inside the golf shop attached to the range.

“First, take a few swings with your current driver.”

Following his instructions, I did a few warm-up swings and then hit some balls.

“Yeah, this club isn’t keeping up with you anymore.

Look at this—when you first bought this club, your swing speed was around 40 m/s.

Now it’s at 52 m/s.”

“I don’t really know if that’s fast or not.”

“It’s very fast. Your club’s shaft is a flexible SR type, which is light and soft, but your strength and swing speed are now high enough that you should be using something heavier and stiffer.

Generally, stiffer and heavier shafts help with distance.”

“Huh, I see.”

“Exactly. Try this one next.”

Nishikawa handed me a new club.

After testing a few different clubs, I finally found one that felt just right: the Bridgestone Golf B1 driver.

The feel of the impact and the sound it made when striking the ball captivated me instantly.

Among all the clubs I tested, I performed best with the B1, even though I heard it was considered a challenging club.

After discussing with Nishikawa and the golf shop staff, I decided on a setup: the B1 driver head paired with a 60g Tensei shaft.

“Hmm, this still feels a bit light.”

“It’s much better than before, though. The swing feels smoother.”

“Try this one instead.”

Nishikawa tinkered with the club and swapped out the shaft.

“This time, I’ve fitted it with a 70g X-shaft—the same kind used by professional male golfers.”

“Professional-level, huh?”

With the new driver in hand, I returned to the hitting area.

As soon as I resumed practice, I could feel the difference. The club suited me perfectly, and my shots were landing cleanly and powerfully.

In the end, I decided to purchase two drivers: one with the 70g shaft and another with the standard Tensei shaft.

“Kirishima-san, have you ever considered entering a tournament?”

“A tournament?”

“Yes. There’s a city tournament coming up soon, and the registration deadline hasn’t passed yet. What do you think?”

“I’m nowhere near good enough to compete in a tournament!”

“But you drive an average of 300 yards and can hit fades, draws, and straight shots on command. Your long game is excellent, and your short game is precise. You can place your wedge shots exactly where you want them.”

“Isn’t that just standard for tournament players?”

“No, an average 300-yard drive is on par with professionals.”

“But I’ve never even played on a course before.”

“You’ll get used to it with a bit of practice.

The tournament is at the end of September—what do you think?”

“Alright, I guess I’ll give it a shot.”

“Then we need to start training right away!”

What followed was an intense practice session.

Before leaving, I filled out the entry form and handed it to Nishikawa, along with the entry fee.

“Make sure to keep practicing in Macau!

And if you ever feel like switching clubs again, just swap out the standard Tensei shaft and resell it.”

“Got it…”

I was always grateful for Nishikawa’s guidance and enthusiasm.

Exhausted from the intense training, I took a shower, got a massage in the training room, and then made my way back to Itami Airport.

Bringing my golf bag with me, I boarded the plane bound for Macau.

Even though the aircraft was a small jet, it was still a private jet, so the luxury was on another level. I was able to relax comfortably on the way to Macau.

Unlike when I left Macau earlier, this time I arrived directly at Macau International Airport thanks to the private jet.

Upon arrival, I bypassed the airport terminal entirely. A Maybach had pulled up right at the tarmac to pick me up.

“Now this is VIP treatment,” I thought as I watched the staff load my golf bag, souvenirs, and suitcases into the car.

Once the luggage was loaded, a staff member opened the rear door for me to enter.

“Welcome back, boss.”

I had been away for a while, yet the voice I heard felt oddly familiar. I turned toward the source of the voice.

“Whoa! Hitomi!?”

“Surprise.”

Hitomi held up a peace sign with a completely expressionless face.

“I got back from my trip home and thought I’d give Akira-kun a little surprise, so I flew to Macau.”

“I was seriously caught off guard…!”

I felt a strange sweat forming on my back.

“Where’s Emma?”

“Right here, boss.”

From the driver’s seat, a single hand popped up and waved.

“This Maybach is really long.

The driver’s seat feels so far away.”

““Totally.””

Emma and Hitomi responded in perfect sync.
