I Suddenly Became Rich, But I Have No Idea How to Spend the Money

Chapter 52

My luggage consisted of one large Rimowa suitcase, one small Rimowa, a large Birkin bag, and dozens of shopping bags filled with souvenirs from Hankyu.

Inside the car, there was also an empty Rimowa and an Haut à Courroies.

It was quite a lot of luggage, but since I only took what was necessary, everything fit neatly onto the Regis cart.

Accompanied by the doorman, I headed to the front desk on the 12th floor.

“Welcome,” a staff member greeted me warmly.

“I’d like a non-smoking room on the highest floor available.”

As soon as I said that, they immediately arranged it for me.

Since I rarely smoke in hotel rooms, I opted for a non-smoking room. If I really wanted to, I could just smoke at the hotel bar for the night.

The room assigned to me was a Grand Deluxe Suite.

It was a more luxurious room than I had expected, but I decided to stay there.

After being guided to the room by the hotel staff, I directed the bell staff on where to place my luggage.

As an afterthought, I handed over the four pairs of brand-new John Lobb shoes I had just received and requested a shoe shine.

After settling in, I headed to the hotel’s Italian restaurant, La Veduta, for a meal.

Eating alone never bothered me when I was abroad, but in Japan, I always felt the weight of people’s stares.

After finishing my meal, I left the restaurant quickly and made my way to The St. Regis Bar.

Taking a seat at the far end of the counter, I enjoyed a conversation with the bartender.

“A Bloody Mary, please.”

“Certainly. Are you familiar with its origin, by any chance?”

“Of course.”

To an outsider, our conversation might have seemed cryptic, but it carried meaning.

Many people don’t know this, but the Bloody Mary cocktail was originally created at the St. Regis New York.

Knowing that, I had deliberately ordered one.

“Are you traveling for leisure, Mr. Kirishima? Or is this for work?”

“No, I finally managed to return to Japan in between work, so I was just catching up on my mail and deliveries.”

“I see. It must be exciting, traveling the world at such a young age.”

“Not at all, it’s just a matter of circumstances. I’ve just been lucky.”

“No, I think your success speaks for itself. It’s quite impressive.”

As we chatted idly, a stunning woman took a seat next to me.

“Mind if I sit here?”

“Not at all.”

I felt a hint of suspicion but responded politely.

“I overheard a little of your conversation earlier. Quite remarkable for someone so young.”

She smiled at me with a sultry gaze.

“No, not really…”

I felt slightly uncomfortable knowing she had been listening in, but I responded nonetheless.

There was a certain predatory look in her eyes, and I realized I wasn’t particularly fond of women like this.

“What line of work are you in?”

“Stocks.”

I deliberately kept my answer vague.

“Oh my, that’s impressive! To be staying at such a luxurious hotel at your age, you must be quite successful.”

“You’re staying here too, aren’t you? May I ask what you do?”

“I own and run several restaurants. You should visit sometime.”

I glanced at the business card she handed me, though I doubted I’d ever go.

It listed an address in Kitashinchi, Osaka’s high-end nightlife district. On the back, there were multiple addresses of affiliated establishments, indicating that she was quite the entrepreneur.

Since she had given me her business card, it would be rude not to reciprocate. I didn’t want to disrupt the pleasant atmosphere, so I handed her one in return.

However, I only carried Sands’ business cards, as I didn’t make cards under my personal company.

Damn, I thought.

The Sands card listed my titles in English: Non-Executive Director of Las Vegas Sands and CEO of The Venetian Macao.

I silently braced myself, hoping she wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.

Her expression changed instantly upon seeing the card.

“Sands… as in that Sands? The famous casino giant in Singapore and beyond?”

“Well, yes.”

“That’s incredible! To have climbed to such a position at your age—absolutely amazing!”

Her enthusiasm was overwhelming to the point of being terrifying.

When she started suggesting we go out for a meal right away, I had finally had enough.

“I’m actually flying abroad tomorrow, so perhaps another time.”

I made sure to decline politely to avoid unnecessary friction, then attempted to pay my bill.

To my dismay, she insisted on paying.

God, please let this end, I thought to myself.

“Well, if you insist, I’ll graciously accept.”

While she was settling the bill, I kept a pleasant smile on my face and swiftly made my way back to my room.

Little did she know, my tab had easily exceeded one million yen.

Caught up in the incredible selection of rare domestic whiskeys, I had indulged quite a bit.

Sensing my distress, the bartender discreetly led me through the hotel’s back passage, which was a huge relief.

As soon as I stepped into my room, I muttered, “That was exhausting…”

I took a quick shower, wrapped myself in a bathrobe, and collapsed onto the bed.

Whether it was the fatigue from dealing with that woman or the effects of the whiskey, I fell asleep almost immediately.
