Chapter 640: 640 Fairy Tail: Potions of Health and Magic, A Date with Juvia, Gajeen Redfox Returns and The Silent Wrath of Laxus.
"Then, it's time to get serious…" Allen said as a large chest appeared out of nowhere beside his mysterious potions.
Serious faces and tense gazes filled the entire place. Were they about to suffer the same cruel fate as Natsu? Was this guy with the unabashed smile actually a heartless bastard?
"What are you planning to do?!" Makarov exclaimed, visibly nervous.
"Hm? They're potions, not bombs. Relax, old man…"
"That's exactly what worries us!" Warren shouted.
"You guys have so little faith in me…" Allen chuckled under his breath. "This time, they're normal potions."
So you admit you were just messing with us before? Everyone thought collectively.
When Allen opened the chest, inside were neatly arranged potions—some red, others blue.
"During the war with Phantom, I realized that in this part of the world potion development has fallen way behind, so I decided to make them myself…"
"Mmm." Makarov relaxed slightly and jumped onto the table. He grabbed one of the blue bottles, opened it, and smelled a faintly familiar aroma. "Allen… is this…?"
"It's similar to the one Master drank, but lower quality…"
"Hey, is this the legendary Magic Power Restoration Elixir?!"
"That's right… Unfortunately, after many failures, I could only reach seventy percent purity, with an effect similar to one-tenth of the original."
The guild fell silent. Allen cleared his throat and explained further. If a full Magic Restoration Elixir could return a Wizard Saint to maximum power, then ten of these would achieve the same result. Five would fully restore an S-Class wizard, three an elite wizard, and one an average mage.
"That's… incredible!"
"Is that true?"
"How can there be anything so absurd!"
In this world, magical power is almost the same as a mage's life. A mage has to be careful not to exhaust his magical power to the extreme otherwise he could collapse or even die. Allen knew how valuable these potions would be, but he had to do it. During the war with Phantom, many Fairy Tail mages had been in danger of dying not because they were weaker than Phantom Lord's members, but because the enemy had greater numbers and their magic power eventually ran out.
"Allen… you…" Makarov looked at him nervously. If word spread that this kind of potion could be manufactured, the whole world would target Allen.
Whether it was the magic council, governments across the continent, and of course any guild, whether legal, mercenary, or dark, would point their fangs at Allen.
Everyone's expressions shifted from surprise to worry. Allen noticed and smiled faintly. These people weren't celebrating what he'd created—they were worried about him.
"I'll tell you one thing: do you really think I'd be in danger?" Allen declared with pride and confidence. Had they forgotten this was the same guy who had already taken down two of the Ten Wizard Saints?
"That's true…"
"Allen's a bastard, but a disgustingly strong one!"
"He's a man!"
"Haha! I dare anyone to try and take the formula for these potions from him!"
With the guild's mood improving, Laki curiously picked up the other bottle.
"Allen-kun, what does this other potion do…?"
Allen thought for a moment and decided it would be easier to show them.
"Erza, I need a knife…"
Erza responded almost on instinct, summoning a dagger and tossing it to him. But as it left her hand, she felt a bad premonition and tried to stop him. She was too slow. Allen grabbed the dagger and slashed his own palm, making a deep cut that bled heavily.
"What are you doing?!" Lucy screamed in fear.
"Allen-sama?!" Juvia ran to help him.
"Idiot!" Erza scolded him.
Mirajane ran for a first aid kit, and the rest of the guild broke into panic—until Allen frowned and released a wave of pressure that made them freeze.
"Relax…" Allen smiled again and gave Laki a playful look. "As you can see, I have a wound that makes it impossible to drink by myself. Would you mind giving me the potion, Laki?"
The violet-haired girl with glasses was stunned for a second before obeying, not realizing Allen could've easily used his other hand. Laki brought the bottle to Allen's lips, and he drank. For some reason, she felt embarrassed.
The rest of the guild's worried expressions instantly turned to disgust. Was this guy flirting with Laki while injured?!
As soon as he finished drinking, something happened that left everyone speechless: Allen's wound closed almost instantly. It was surreal.
"It's a lie, an instant healing potion?!" Levy, who had returned, walked over to Allen and checked his hand.
Cana gasped, "This is just as impossible as the previous potion..."
"You fool! Was it necessary to cut off your hand for that?!" Erza scolded him.
"That's right!" Lucy scolded him as well.
Allen could only apologize to both of them. Juvia had a frightened and worried look on her face and he had to pat her head. Mirajane had a black aura surrounding her as she smiled, but she didn't find Allen's actions funny at all. The latter had to apologize to her as well.
"I'm sorry..."
Soon the concern of the entire guild increased.
Allen understood the significance. In this world, when mages are wounded, they have to be hospitalized, spending hours, days, or even weeks to recover. That's what happened to Jet and Droy, who had been hospitalized for days before being discharged. Even Makarov, despite regaining his magic, had to wrap his body in bandages after falling several stories.
Allen was a professional alchemist, and he found it outrageous that this world could build a magical death satellite that shoots from space but hadn't developed basic health potions. Health potions are the most essential, most basic of all.
But Allen also understood. There was a time when penicillin didn't exist, when people had no medicine, no knowledge of alcohol's properties, no modern operating rooms, no rabies vaccines. This world was simply moving at its own pace, and in the current era, the art of alchemy was still very young.
"Allen, this is dangerous… even for you. With just these two potions…"
"I know…" Allen was ready for that look. "But nothing is perfect. Like I said before, these potions are only seventy percent pure. To put it simply, the higher the potion's purity and quality, the easier it is for the human body to absorb. At seventy percent, you can't take more than one a day. So expecting these potions to heal all wounds and restore all magical power is difficult."
"What happens if you do?" Gray asked, wide-eyed.
"Have you ever heard the saying that every medicine becomes poison in excess?"
Makarov let out a sigh of relief. If these potions could be taken constantly, wouldn't that make a mage immortal with unlimited magic power?
"Even so, this is very serious. Everyone is forbidden from mentioning this outside the guild!" Makarov roared, leaving the guild in silence before they all nodded.
"Of course!"
"We'd never betray our comrade!"
"I owe Allen my life!"
Seeing everyone's reaction made Lucy's and Juvia's eyes light up. This was Fairy Tail, something they were still discovering.
Rebecca – Well, that's the expected reaction…
Albedo – Allen-sama looks happy, and that's all that matters!
Once again, Fairy Tail proved why it was the best guild of all. Allen handed the chest to Makarov, telling him to keep them for now and to only use them in a large-scale battle like with Phantom Lord while he worked on improving the formula.
With that, the uproar ended and everything returned to normal. Allen sat at a table with Erza, Juvia, and Lucy, planning their next mission.
Makarov stayed silent, watching Allen smile as Lucy pouted and Juvia grew jealous. Sensing the change in Allen, Makarov couldn't help but smile.
'I'm happy for you…'
…..
(One day later, Oak Town)
Allen stepped off the train into a city he hadn't expected to return to so soon. Behind him, a girl hopped off, without hesitation, grabbed Allen's arm.
"Allen-sama! Juvia is so happy for this chance to be alone together!" the girl said with a bright, joyful smile.
It was true that, unlike the other girls, Juvia hadn't had any alone time with Allen yet.
"I don't want to break your illusion, but we're supposed to have an important job to do…"
"Of course Juvia knows that~" Juvia leaned against Allen, feeling his warmth and breathing in that masculine scent that made her feel obsessed.
Allen chuckled. Out of all the girls he'd met in this world, Juvia was the one who showed her feelings the most openly—and almost aggressively. But that was fine. In the end, he thought it was cute.
"How about we take a walk before we start the mission?"
"Is that a date?!" Juvia exclaimed, her eyes sparkling.
"Yeah, it's a date," Allen said with a smile.
"…!"
Juvia froze at the direct answer. To be honest with herself, Juvia knew she couldn't compare to Lucy, Erza, or even Mirajane. She had spent the least amount of time with Allen, and as a result, her relationship with him was the weakest.
Juvia was painfully aware of this and had mentally prepared herself for a tough battle. She had prepared for Allen not wanting to spend much time with her, not wanting to hold her hand, hug her, or even be alone with her. Of course, Juvia wasn't going to give up. No matter how many rivals she had, no matter if Allen rejected her a thousand times, she wanted to stay by his side and planned to persist no matter what.
Her eyes welled up with tears and she bit her lip. Was it really that easy? So simple to get a date she had only ever imagined as a distant fantasy?
Allen stopped walking and gently patted her head. "I don't know what you think of me, but I wouldn't turn down an invitation from such a beautiful girl like you…"
"Allen-sama!" Juvia threw herself into Allen's arms, crying rivers. Of course, even if it seemed exaggerated, you have to understand that Juvia had been rejected her whole life. In such a short time, she had found a place to belong and what could be considered her first love. But realistically, the chances of that love blossoming were slim—especially with so many gorgeous women aiming for the same thing.
Juvia will not waste this chance! Juvia will make Allen fall in love with her!
The impromptu date began with a visit to an aquarium—or so Allen thought until he saw someone pull a fish from a tank and cut off its head, realizing it wasn't an aquarium at all but a restaurant.
Allen shrugged and took the opportunity to have lunch with Juvia. The girl went full "girlfriend mode" and even fed him bites. He, of course, didn't refuse, creating a lovely image of a happy couple—or it would have been if the entire restaurant wasn't staring at them in disbelief.
Remembering that Juvia had been an S-Class mage in the now-defunct Phantom Lord and was infamous for being cold and ruthless, seeing this same "Rain Woman" blushing with a big smile, feeding her boyfriend… it was downright unacceptable.
After the restaurant, they went shopping for clothes—mainly just an excuse for Juvia to show herself off in different outfits for Allen.
She tried on everything from bikinis to coats, from dresses to lingerie, all just to seek his praise. Allen didn't complain and always found something to compliment in each outfit—even the lingerie, which almost made Juvia faint twice.
The situation got awkward when they left the stores with a mountain of new clothes. This happened because Juvia insisted on buying every single piece Allen had praised. Allen couldn't stop her—after all, Juvia was already so beautiful that everything looked good on her.
In the end, the bill went over a million. Juvia couldn't pay it alone, so Allen did. At first, she tried to refuse, but then she got lost in fantasies, muttering things like, "What's mine is yours, and what's yours is mine," while smiling in a slightly terrifying way.
Allen stored the clothes in his inventory, and they proceeded to stroll through the city. They bought ice cream, cotton candy, visited a park, stopped by the pet shop, and lastly, even went to a library.
Before they knew it, the sun was already setting.
"It's time…" Allen said as Juvia walked beside him, holding onto his arm with her heart practically floating out of her head.
"This is the best day of Juvia's life! Juvia can die happy now!"
Allen flicked her forehead with his finger. "Hey, don't say that again. There'll be plenty more days like this…"
For a moment, Juvia panicked, thinking she had upset Allen, but hearing his words made a wave of happiness wash over her, and she smiled brightly.
"Yes! Juvia will work hard to be a good wife!"
Allen blinked in confusion, trying to remember if he had somehow proposed to her without realizing it, but before the answer came, they arrived at their destination.
....
"Well, this is it…" Juvia said softly, a mix of emotions in her voice.
"…"
Allen looked at what was once the massive Phantom Lord Guild building, now reduced to ruins with a collapsed roof and broken walls. This place that had once been home to a guild on par with Fairy Tail had ended up in this state—all because of the stupidity and ego of its master, Jose Porla.
Feeling the need to focus, Juvia let go of Allen's arm and waited for his order with a worried look.
"Let's go in…"
Allen didn't waste any more time and stepped inside. The interior was exactly what you'd expect: broken tables, overturned chairs, weeks of dust and garbage. But that wasn't the important part. In the center of the room was a pile of scrap metal and debris, with someone sitting on top, eating.
"What do you want?"
"Gajeel-kun…" Juvia said with a look of pity.
"Seems you refuse to leave this place. Were you really that attached to Jose?" Allen said, narrowing his eyes.
The Phantom Lord guild had been dissolved. This carried a lot of weight when you realized it had been a crucial guild for the country, led by a Wizard Saint, and once home to a member of the Magic Council. But there had been no mercy due to the severity of their crimes.
Of course, all the blame had fallen on the "disappeared" Jose Porla, allowing mages like Juvia and Gajeel to continue their lives. Nothing prevented them from still being mages, so most joined other guilds, some left the magical world entirely, and others vanished without a trace. But only Gajeel had remained here.
"Allen Walker, did you come back to finish the job?" Gajeel stood and turned. His body bore several scars left by Allen in the past. However, there was no hatred in his eyes. In the end, it was the law of the strong, and Gajeel had accepted it without flinching.
Allen stayed silent. Juvia panicked, not knowing what was about to happen.
"No. I'm here to recruit you…"
Allen finally answered, shocking Gajeel.
"What did you just say?! Are you insane?!"
Had Allen forgotten what Gajeel did to the guild, to Jet and Droy, what he tried to do to Levy?
"You're right. Back then, I planned to kill you." Allen's gaze softened before he smiled, as if staring into the distance. "But now… I don't feel like it anymore."
Gajeel stayed silent before scoffing. "Tsk. You've gone soft. Don't screw with me!"
"Soft?" Allen smiled, his eyes glowing. Gajeel suddenly felt immense pressure that forced him to his knees. "On the contrary, Gajeel Redfox. I'm stronger than ever…"
"Monster…" Gajeel muttered, but then he smirked. "Honestly, I hate the very idea of being in Fairy Tail. Everyone there is way too soft. But you… I like you. So I wouldn't mind being part of that place."
"Before that, you should know it won't be easy for others to accept you, unlike Juvia…" Allen narrowed his eyes. "Master Makarov wanted to come in person. He believes deep down everyone can change."
"And you?" Gajeel smirked. "Do you believe the same thing?"
Allen shrugged. "If I were my old self, my solution would've been far less peaceful. But lately, I've been in a good mood. So, Gajeel, join Fairy Tail…" Allen gave a mysterious smile that made Gajeel's eyes widen. "Don't worry. You'll like it there… I can see it."
Gajeel spat on the floor. "I doubt it. But whatever. Take me to that cotton-candy-smelling place!"
Juvia clasped her hands together, her heart in her eyes. "Allen-sama is so amazing❤️~!"
Gajeel almost tripped when he saw this Juvia. She was nothing like the emotionless girl he remembered. Did Fairy Tail brainwash her, or did she just fall in love so hard her brain melted?
Allen wrapped an arm around Juvia's waist.
"Allen-sama?!~" Even Juvia, who constantly fantasized about being swept up in his arms, couldn't react in time.
"I'm not taking the train back…" Allen grabbed Gajeel's shoulder and used "Apparition."
When they arrived in Magnolia, Gajeel collapsed and immediately started vomiting, while Juvia had fainted in Allen's arms, though for a different reason than Gajeel.
Seeing the situation, Allen thought it was a good idea not to appear in the guild hall directly.
Still, I should talk to Levy before introducing Gajeel…
…
Laxus walked back toward Magnolia Town with a cold look in his eyes. For days now, guild news had been hitting him one after another.
– Fairy Tail's new strongest mage: Allen Walker.
– A young man capable of defeating a Wizard Saint.
– The rising star…
– The strongest S-Class mage…
– Makarov Dreyar's successor…
– The mage who has Titania and Mirajane in love…
One headline after another did nothing but irritate Laxus. It was as if the whole world had forgotten he existed. As if, ever since Allen appeared, no other male mage mattered in Fairy Tail.
Laxus felt fury boiling inside him. He was the true successor. He was supposed to take the guild master's seat when Makarov retired.
"I'VE HAD ENOUGH! IT'S TIME FOR FAIRY TAIL TO BE MINE!"
