Chapter 116: Necromancer Virus
"What do you mean they are dead?" Keane asked as he motioned for someone to find a healer.
Peter pulled a chair and sat on it, and Keane passed him a lit cigarette.
"Ah, that feels so good." Peter, with his trembling hands, took a puff from the cigarette and said, "I took a job to smuggle some boxes back into the city, you know, the usual.
"But it turns out what was inside wasn't flesh of demonic beasts or anything like that.
"There were dead men inside."
"Dead men?" Keane asked.
"Yes, dead until we opened the boxes, thinking that we could scavenge something from within.
"They... they moved.
"All of them stood up suddenly and took a bite out of everyone alive."
Knock.
Before Peter could speak again, the door was knocked.
Keane's men saw that it was the healer and didn't think much of it.
He opened the door, and the healer suddenly lunged at him, biting onto his neck and tearing out his flesh.
Other men came rushing into the office.
Bang.
Keane's men opened fire.
The bullets hit but couldn't stop these men.
They felt no pain, continued rushing at Keane's men, and lunged onto them.
Whoosh.
One of them lunged at Keane, and he swiped his hands at him.
A wind blade shot at the man, decapitating him in an instant.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Peter lunging at him from his side.
Keane quickly leaped back and glanced at the window of his office.
Smash.
He ran towards the window and leaped through it.
Luckily for him, his strength as an awakened enabled him to knock the rusty window grilles off.
Keane knew he had to find help, and he ran towards the security checkpoint.
"Looks like fun is about to begin. That SSS Level Necromancer Virus ability is awesome, Hassan." Leeroy gleamed with joy from afar at the chaos that was happening inside Keane's office.
Ashen and Risa stood silently beside him.
And there was someone else with them.
It was Hassan, an old man with a hunchback.
He stroked his beard as he marveled at his masterpiece.
His ability was deemed one of the most impractical and useless against demonic beasts.
There weren't that many men alive willing to be infected with the Necromancer Virus, and those infected only lusted for flesh to spread it.
However, when it was used against fellow men...
Hassan had agreed to join the Shadow Lotus to show those who had belittled him all these years how wrong they were.
This time around, Peter Lim couldn't provide them with any more devices to create a beast horde attack.
So, Ashen decided to start from within to force the First Awakened of the West Battle Administration Area to wake up.
The lax and ill-disciplined nature of the soldiers had made their job relatively easy.
They watched and waited for the chaos to spread with the necromancer virus.
...
As their plane descended, Lukas glanced at the familiar sight of snow and glamorous buildings.
They had woken up and immediately made their way to the West Battle Administration Area with assistant Sherry.
Lukas was with the team, and Margaret had joined them on this trip.
Dr. Uwe said that it was for helping him escape from Peter Lim.
Whirl.
The back of the plane opened, and Lukas walked down from the platform.
He immediately felt the chills from the wind blowing at him.
Sherry then led them to the checkpoint counter.
"Queue up and show us your ID," the soldier at the checkpoint counter shouted.
But Sherry didn't bother, and she went over to the checkpoint counter and passed the soldier a document.
The soldier read the document and did a double take.
He turned around and glanced over at his superior.
"What's the delay?" his superior asked in an impatient voice.
"I think you need to look at this."
"This better be good," the superior said and snatched the document from the soldier.
The superior was just as shocked when he read the document.
Thoughts went through his mind on what he should do.
The document was a warrant for the arrest of Peter Lim and the Governor.
A thought went through his mind.
If he warned Peter Lim and the Governor about it, maybe he would be handsomely rewarded.
His thoughts didn't last long as he felt someone coming into his mind.
There were screams and imagery of him dying in every possible manner flashing through his mind.
"Let them through." He heard a voice command him next, and he followed the instruction.
Sherry snatched the document back from the superior, and she waved at Lukas and the other members to follow her.
After getting out of the airbase, an armored car was already waiting for them.
They got on, and Sherry briefed them on the plan.
First, they would go and capture Peter Lim and then the Governor.
Both had been under surveillance ever since the order was made in the council hall.
It should be a swift and decisive mission if everything goes well.
She also handed them earbuds so that they could communicate with each other.
Lukas looked at the billboards along the way, and this time there weren't any Zak posters anywhere.
Someone new had taken his place.
There were always willing victims to believe in the next one.
"Hey, take a look at this." Rex was watching a live stream on his phone.
Emma took a look and shook her head.
People inside were screaming while they ran away from other men.
Many in the comments were commenting on how realistic the effects were.
Everyone here was desensitized after all these years of entertainment, and they didn't suspect a thing.
Lukas took a look and frowned at what he saw.
Screech.
However, the armored car stopped as they had arrived at Peter Lim's mansion.
Lukas and the other team members got out of the car.
He glanced at the mansion, and everything was now as good as new.
A man dressed in black came over and said, "Assistant Sherry, Peter Lim hasn't left the mansion. All comms that we've intercepted indicate that he isn't aware of your arrival."
"Good." Sherry nodded at the man, and she walked towards the mansion.
Lukas and Harianto proceeded to move into their allocated area.
They ran, getting through obstacles, and got to the back of the mansion.
