I Kill to Get All SSS Abilities: From Outcast to Awakened

Chapter 115: New Missions!

The Leader took a few steps closer.

Lukas didn't know what to expect, but he tried to accumulate his energy for his lightning strikes, just in case.

However, he realized that nothing happened.

There were no flickers of light, and when he tried to conjure up an ice wall, nothing happened either.

"Don't worry. I think it's better to speak with you here in my mind."

"Your mind?" Lukas mumbled, and he thought about the ability of assistant Sherry.

He figured the Leader's ability might be something similar.

"Why do you need to speak to me in here?" Lukas asked.

The Leader stopped and said, "I sense that your ability is something vastly different. In fact, it's something I've never seen before.

"I'm not one to like to dig into others' secrets, so I shall not dwell on this further.

"We all have secrets."

Lukas immediately thought about the photo he had seen earlier.

This revelation somewhat confirmed what he had thought about the Leader.

The Leader might have been one of the First Awakened.

Was it also one of the Leader's abilities to stay youthful forever? Lukas thought silently.

The Leader smiled and shook his head, as if he could know what Lukas was thinking in his mind.

He continued and said, "I need your help to go on a mission with other elite awakened teams to harvest the blood and core of an Apex demonic beast."

Lukas frowned and asked, "We could have discussed this normally?"

"Of course we could. But I need you to be going as an undercover for me."

The Leader stretched out his hands and said, "I need to go into my month-long slumber on and off.

"And as you had just seen with the chairman and Secretary Lawrence, some things were getting out of hand while I was in my sleep.

"When you get your hands on the blood and core of the Apex demonic beast, bring it back to me.

"Don't trust any of the other awakened teams."

"And why would you trust me?" Lukas asked.

Although the Leader didn't say it, Lukas picked up the hint that the Leader was wary of his teammates.

The Leader shook his head and said, "Don't be mistaken. I'm only trusting Rodney and Benson for now.

"And as for you, you are the most powerful among them.

"I'm just being pragmatic and making sure that I have the highest chances of succeeding.

"If you were in my position, I'm sure you'd be just as pragmatic as me."

Lukas frowned as he wasn't sure of his teammate's decision.

Going against an Apex demonic beast wasn't a walk in the park.

"The rewards will be worth the risk.

"The blood and core shall be used for research on a viable demonic beast genotoxin.

"It would lead to a long-lasting peace for us humans.

"And I promise you a personal bonus of $10 million for the success of the mission, while your teammates get $5 million," the Leader said, and Lukas's vision turned black.

The next moment, he was back in the living room again.

The Leader was talking with Riley and the rest as if what had happened earlier was a dream.

But it wasn't, as the Leader stood up and said, "I have a mission for your team."

He went on to say the same thing, briefing them on the details of the Apex demonic beasts.

They were to team up with nine elite awakened teams from the North, East, and West Battle Administration Areas.

Riley and the others frowned for a moment.

They had only taken on High Tiered demonic beasts so far together with Lukas.

An Apex Tiered demonic beast was several times stronger than a High Tiered demonic beast.

However, they were very tempted when they heard the reward of $5 million for each of them.

"Lukas, what's your decision?" Riley asked, and the other team members looked on with anticipation.

They knew their success would depend a lot on Lukas.

"Sure. Why not?" Lukas nodded and said.

$10 million was f*** you money.

And they could contribute in a small way to maybe salvage the world, so why not.

Riley turned over to the Leader and said, "We will be more than glad to take on the mission."

"Sherry will send you the details later on where and when to move out," the Leader said and paused.

He waited for Sherry to come into the living room with a tray of red wine.

Sherry passed each of them a cup of red wine and said, "But first, I need your team to come with me to the West Battle Administration Area to apprehend Peter Lim and the Governor.

"It's a $1 million reward."

Lukas and the other teammates nodded their heads and agreed to it.

It was time for payback to Peter Lim.

"Good. We leave immediately tomorrow morning.

"I've arranged lodging for you nearby.

"The Apex demonic beast that is to be hunted is near the vicinity of the West Battle Administration Area anyway, so it's not out of the way," Sherry said.

They left the Leader's Residence and had a long-deserved rest.

After landing in the airbase, they were constantly on the run and didn't have much of a breather.

The lodging's soft bed lulled them to sleep easily.

...

West Battle Administration Area.

Keane was in his office playing cards with some of his men.

He drew a huge puff from his cigarette.

Business was bad after Dr. Uwe left.

Those rich psychos had stopped calling him.

And even if he wanted to, the number of demonic beasts had suddenly dwindled rapidly.

There was no demonic beast meat to be harvested in the surroundings.

Knock.

"Go get the door," Keane said to his men.

One of them grumbled and stood up to open it.

He opened the door and stumbled a few steps back.

It was one of Keane's friends, Peter, dealing with smuggling like him.

His face was white, and blood dripped from his wound in the chest.

Peter rushed into the office and closed the door quickly.

"What the hell happened?" Keane stood up and asked.

His men drew out their weapons and stood on alert.

Peter glanced at Keane and said, "My men... they are all dead."
