Chapter 117: The Raging Devils Team
Inside his mansion, Peter Lim was seated in his chair, looking down at his phone.
Secretary Lawrence hadn't replied to his message for a day.
He frowned and started to think about all the different possibilities.
Peter Lim then searched for news on Secretary Lawrence and there wasn't any.
"That's odd."
Secretary Lawrence had never taken so long to reply to his messages.
Something could have happened to him but not been publicized.
He opened another chat message thread, and it was the same.
The Shadow Lotus had not replied to him after what happened in his mansion.
A sense of being abandoned slowly crept into his mind.
"These bastards!" Peter Lim stood up and cursed.
They had promised him power and money.
He had delivered what they needed and now, they were nowhere to be seen.
A voice from outside the door suddenly disrupted his thoughts.
"Sir, get ready, we have to leave."
It was the voice of his new security detail.
After what had happened at his birthday party, he had found an awakened team, the Raging Devils, to take over the useless team he had had earlier.
The door opened and a few men and a woman dressed in red armor walked in.
"What's happening?" Peter Lim asked.
"Someone from the Center Battle Administration Area is here with a warrant for you. She says she's the assistant to the Leader." The leader of the Raging Devils, Henry, said.
Henry looked like a rock star with piercings and tattoos all over him.
Beside him was a lady, with her red armor barely able to contain her good figure.
Two other men who were bald and muscular like monks stood silently.
"Rose, help Mr. Peter Lim carry his belongings. Shi Long and Shi Tu, be the vanguard. Our teammate, Brian, can't hold them much longer."
Rose walked over and helped Peter Lim who was putting important items into his briefcase.
Shi Long and Shi Tu got out of the room on alert.
...
Meanwhile, out in the garden of the mansion.
Sherry stood on full alert with Riley and Rex beside her.
The garden had suddenly started growing vigorously when they entered the mansion.
It was now overgrown like a small forest instead of a garden.
Whip.
Vines started moving on their own and lashed at Sherry.
Riley quickly unleashed a lightning strike at the vines.
Wham.
The vines coming at Sherry were immediately turned into ash by the lightning strike.
Flowers that were now as big as an adult's head started to give off pollen into the air.
Seeing this, Riley wanted to unleash his lightning strikes at the flowers, but he suddenly felt a tug at his ankles.
"Riley!" Rex shouted and conjured a whip made of spiky rocks in both hands.
Boom!
Riley gave out a roar and an armor made of lightning engulfed his body, burning off the vines that had wrapped around his ankles.
However, it was not over.
More vines grew out of the surrounding plants and came at them.
With his lightning armor, Riley helped Sherry burn off the vines that came at her.
Whip.
Rex started whipping at the vines that came at him, ripping them apart.
On and off he had to unleash a volley of rock spikes from his body to get rid of the vines.
He was fending off the vines well, but after a while, Rex started feeling his breathing was going faster and faster.
His vision started to become blurred.
"Look at you, think a brute like you could ever get a girlfriend?"
When he glanced over at Riley and Sherry, Riley turned into a mix of a demonic beast and was laughing at him.
Sherry was looking like a lizard smirking at him.
"The pollen, they make you hallucinate!" Rex shouted.
Riley's situation wasn't any better as he shook his head and tried to clear it.
"Someone is controlling these vegetations with their ability. We have to find him and stop him."
Sherry was the only one not affected by the pollen.
Her ability made her immune to it.
Bang.
She fired her pistol in different directions, observing the movements of vines as she did so.
"Over there." Sherry pointed to her right when she saw the vines move towards that direction when she shot there.
Whoever was hiding there must have tried to protect himself.
A brown glow appeared in her hand, and it darted into Riley's head.
Riley's body moved under her control and raised his hands.
Flickers of lightning appeared and wham, two lightning strikes unleashed in that direction.
The plants were ripped apart and burnt as the lightning traveled along.
Finally, a man showed himself.
He was wearing red armor and had a flower hair clip on his brown hair.
"Ah, you found me so soon." Brian shrugged his shoulders.
The next moment, Riley lunged at him with his lightning armor.
Vines came at Riley trying to stop him but couldn't.
They were burnt into ash the moment they touched his lightning armor.
Riley raised his hands at Brian and before he could unleash his lightning strikes, huge fruits that were in the surroundings where Brian stood exploded.
The mushy and sticky contents from the fruits splattered onto the surroundings.
Portions of it that came into contact with Riley's lightning armor were burnt like the vines.
However, some of it managed to splatter onto Riley's face, sticking onto his nose and mouth.
Cutting him off from breathing.
Riley quickly held up his hand to his face and used the lightning on his lightning armor to burn through the mush that was on his face.
Brian had taken this opportunity and tried to make a run for it.
Thud.
He didn't get far before a whip made of spiky rock lashed onto his back.
The spikes on the whip crashed through his armor and tore out skin and flesh from his back.
The impact was also enough to cause Brian to fall onto the ground.
Riley came up to Brian and with his hands in front of Brian's head, unleashed a lightning strike at close range.
"Everyone be on high alert. Peter Lim might be getting away." Sherry said into her earbuds and sat down on the ground.
