Chapter 104: Jewel Lake
Boom!
The huge snake's bite slammed into the ground, kicking up the snow and soil from the ground.
Lukas had leaped to the side, dodging the attack from the snake in the nick of time.
He raised his hands and pointed them at the huge snake's body.
Flickers of bright light appeared as he got ready to unleash lightning strikes at the huge snake.
Whoosh.
Before he could do so, the body of the huge snake glowed in an amber glow, and its scales lifted up.
Hot glowing lava then spurted out from the scales' openings.
Lukas quickly leaped back away from the lava.
Rex conjured up a rock wall.
The rock wall melted when the lava came into contact with it.
Emma then pulled Rex and leaped away from the huge snake.
The trees in the surroundings started burning and fell down when the lava latched onto the tree trunks.
The Lava Snake lifted its head again.
It looked down at Lukas.
Then it opened its mouth and shot out a mouthful of boiling hot lava at Lukas.
Wham.
Lukas unleashed lightning strikes at the lava coming at him.
The lightning strikes hit but couldn't get through the enormous volume of boiling hot lava.
They could only manage to create an explosion and made most of the lava splatter outwards away from Lukas.
Lukas felt a gust of wind coming at him from the ground.
The Lava Snake had swiped its tail at Lukas's feet, trying to make him fall onto the ground.
A rock wall rose from the ground, trying to block the Lava Snake's tail.
But it couldn't stop it.
Crack.
The rock wall broke into pieces and the Lava Snake's tail continued its trajectory.
Until it was stopped by Lukas.
Lukas took the opportunity and used his shadow and his hands to hold onto the Lava Snake's tail.
The Lava Snake tried to break free from Lukas's grip but couldn't.
Flickers of bright light appeared from Lukas's hands, and he unleashed his lightning strikes onto the tail of the Lava Snake.
Splatter.
The tail of the Lava Snake broke off from its body.
Its flesh splattered out onto the ground.
The Lava Snake raged and thrashed around.
It opened up its scales and hot boiling lava spurted out into the surroundings.
Lukas, Rex and Emma quickly leaped away.
Harianto also reversed the armored van to get further away from the lava.
Lukas focused on the openings in the scales from afar.
And when he saw that the lava stopped spurting out from the openings, he made his move.
Wham!
His lightning strikes aimed at the openings hit and blew off a huge chunk of flesh from the Lava Snake.
An ice spike then shot at the wound from above.
Splatter.
The ice spike penetrated the wound and plunged deep into the body of the Lava Snake.
Pain from the wound caused the Lava Snake to become angered.
It tried to lunge at Lukas with its huge mouth.
Boom.
The Lava Snake missed as its bite hit the ground.
Lukas had leaped away and lunged at its wound.
His hands held close to the wound and flickers of bright light appeared.
Wham.
The lightning strikes hit and this time, the body of the Lava Snake was blown into two halves.
Thrashing around uncontrollably, the two halves of the Lava Snake kicked up the snow and caused several trees to fall.
Lukas waited patiently.
And after a few moments, a familiar sound erupted in his mind.
[Ding!]
[Slaughter Points +800]
[Current Slaughter Points: 6500/20000]
[Host Level: 5]
[Current Abilities: 5]
The familiar surge of energy came into his body.
Lukas looked at the time and saw that another half hour had passed.
They had two more hours to go.
He quickly harvested the demonic core from the Lava Snake and walked towards the armored van.
"Hope there are no more surprises for us," Rex grumbled, as he gave Lukas a pat on his shoulder.
He was more than impressed with Lukas.
Lukas was not only powerful but was able to react to all the different conditions in battle.
Any sudden change or surprise was quickly nullified by his quick thinking.
The team would have been gone if it wasn't for Lukas.
Vroom.
The armored van roared as it traveled slowly towards them.
"Unless you like the cold out there, if not, get into the van," Harianto poked his head out of the driver's seat and said.
Lukas gave Harianto a smile and got into the back of the armored van.
Once he got inside the armored van, Dr. Uwe was looking at him curiously.
"I've got something on my face?" Lukas asked.
"Oh, I'm sorry. It's just that I've never seen someone with so many abilities before," Dr. Uwe exclaimed.
Lukas shrugged and said, "I'm not too sure myself."
Riley then interjected.
"Once we get out of this valley, we should be near the Jewel Lake," Riley said as he looked at the map from Rodney.
"Oh God. I miss my bed now," Rex said and tapped on the shoulder of Harianto. "Step on it, Harianto."
Harianto ignored him and drove slowly into the valley.
He saw shadows high up on both sides of the slopes.
Luckily, they didn't make a move on the armored van after witnessing the death of the Lava Snake.
The demonic beasts felt they had no chance since the Lava Snake was stronger than they were.
Slowly, the armored van moved through the valley.
There were some portions of the valley that were too steep, and Lukas had to alight and pull it to get across the ascent.
Other than that, it was relatively uneventful.
Finally, the surroundings opened up and they could see a huge patch of grassland in front of them.
Further away from the grassland was a huge body of water, reaching far out into the horizon.
The huge body of water was the Jewel Lake.
They had gotten through the valley and arrived at the clearing.
It took them one hour to pass through the valley.
Just one hour more for the plane to arrive.
Lukas, Rex and Emma got out from the armored van and surveyed the area.
Riley picked up his phone and made a call to Rodney.
"We've arrived," he said immediately when Rodney picked up the call.
"Plane is on the way," Rodney replied but stopped when he heard a trembling sound on the other side of the phone.
