I can rewind time to prevent death

Chapter 485: Darkness Descends

Seeing this scene, Ito Yuko remained silent, her face filled with terror. However, the fear quickly gave way to a mixture of astonishment, contemplation, and hesitation.

The block-like corpse in the freezer was nothing more than a lifeless object, not a supernatural strangeness, so it did not move.

Daisuke Kitahara used his katana to pierce through the nearby ice chunks, isolating the corpse. Then, after exerting immense effort, he finally managed to haul the block-like corpse onto the storage room floor.

Yan Junze and Kurosawa Tsuyoshi were about to step closer for a detailed inspection when Ito Yuko suddenly brushed past them. She approached the corpse first, dropping to her knees swiftly.

The others froze in place. Yan Junze slightly adjusted the angle of his flashlight, lifting it to provide illumination that didn't directly shine on Yuko's face but still allowed them to see her expression clearly.

Yuko's expression was blank, her whole demeanor seeming out of sorts. She stared unblinkingly at the disfigured corpse, particularly the crooked, twisted head.

She leaned forward, bringing her face closer and closer.

All of a sudden, Yuko covered her mouth with her hand. A moment later, the sound of sobbing escaped her lips, and large, rolling tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Eki-kun!"

From the distorted and twisted facial features, Yuko seemed to have finally recognized the identity of the person who had been hidden in the freezer all this time.

And this person was clearly someone closely connected to her. Judging by her reaction, it was likely a relative.

Yet none of them could make sense of why Junichi Eki, after being killed, had been destroyed and hidden in the freezer, secretly preserved until now to avoid detection.

"I thought he abandoned me. It was... It was my father. It must have been my father who killed him!"

The storage room echoed with Yuko's cries and wails.

Half an hour later, Yan Junze and Kurosawa Tsuyoshi walked out of the storage room, one after the other.

They left Ito Yuko and Daisuke Kitahara inside. Kitahara was assisting Yuko in handling Junichi Eki's corpse, preparing to find a place for a proper burial.

Through Yuko's fragmented accounts, they had learned the truth about Junichi Eki's life.

Junichi Eki had been Ito Yuko's boyfriend, and the two had progressed to the point of discussing marriage. They had fallen in love during Yuko's venture outside to start her own business.

But the Ito family had always opposed their relationship and issued Yuko an ultimatum, demanding she return home immediately to inherit the family estate. Junichi Eki, on the other hand, was suspected by her family of approaching Yuko with ulterior motives for their wealth.

Yuko refused to go home, but Junichi Eki persistently counseled her to think it over, suggesting that perhaps her family simply misunderstood him and that their opposition to the marriage could stem from this misunderstanding.

Despite this, Yuko still wouldn't agree. Junichi Eki then went to the Ito family on his own, seeking to meet Yuko's parents and convey his true intentions and his heartfelt love for her.

Unexpectedly, Junichi Eki didn't return to Yuko after some days. Puzzled, Yuko finally went home, only to hear her father claim that they had uncovered Eki's true face and scolded him harshly.

Junichi Eki was depicted as shamed and unwilling to face Yuko again, leaving and never seeking her out again.

During that time, Yuko had an emotional breakdown. Choosing to believe her father's words, she could never have imagined the man she loved only saw her as a means to wealth.

Disillusioned with love, she lost all hope for romantic relationships and rejected all potential suitors her parents introduced to her.

Almost a decade passed, during which her parents contracted illnesses and passed away one after another.

The family's longstanding business was sold by Ito Yuko, leaving only Yuko herself alone to guard this mansion.

She never could have calculated that Junichi Eki hadn't left after all, but had been killed during that heated confrontation with her parents. Eki was murdered on the spot.

Afraid of exposure, Yuko's parents devised the wicked plan to secretly seal and preserve Junichi Eki's corpse.

The truth had come to light, revealing an origin far stranger than anyone anticipated for the Multi-limbed Being.

This revelation directly altered how Kurosawa Tsuyoshi and Daisuke Kitahara regarded Yan Junze.

Kurosawa Tsuyoshi appeared to have gained some understanding in that moment—it turned out this so-called Buddhist-style exorcism followed such a peculiar path!

The two stood outside the storage room under the narrow eaves near the pathway.

At this time, the downpour outside began to ease, as if signaling that the Multi-limbed Being's obsession had been dispelled. No longer a torrential downpour, the rain had softened into a gentle drizzle.

Yan Junze and Kurosawa Tsuyoshi stood shoulder to shoulder. After a pause, Junze spoke: "If the information I, the Huaying Exorcist, have is accurate, then at this very moment, the True Word Demon Sylvanus in the far-off Olay Great Capital might already have planted a True Word Barrier on you."

Kurosawa Tsuyoshi froze abruptly and turned his head to look at him, abandoning his original intent to further inquire about the Buddhist-style Exorcism Method from Yan Junze.

"If that's the case, this is truly bizarre!"

Yan Junze nodded and suggested, "So starting now, Mister Reaper, I advise you to remain vigilant about every unusual occurrence around you and ensure no danger touches you."

Kurosawa Tsuyoshi chuckled bitterly: "Although I have no idea whether what you're saying is true, what exactly is this True Word Barrier? I don't even know where to start defending myself against it!"

Yan Junze analyzed seriously: "For instance, you might suddenly feel cold, or you may experience an instinctive aversion and rejection toward certain objects. Perhaps your body starts developing abnormalities or ailments—basically, any and all irregularities."
