Chapter 21: New Skills
A week has passed quickly, and Jay has accomplished his task admirably.
Within a week, Jay delighted Deli by providing excellent livestock feed.
Jay consistently provided Deli with elephant grass, which naturally delighted Deli.
However, there was another surprise that is currently being widely discussed by the villagers of Adam.
This is due to Jay's efforts during this period.
He consistently achieved his targets for completing livestock feed tasks and was widely praised by the villagers for his ability to provide good food for the livestock.
Don't underestimate Jay's contribution; while livestock feed may seem trivial, it's truly crucial in these difficult times.
Whether cows, buffalo, or even donkeys, they are incredibly resilient workers for the entire village.
With their strength, plowing, grinding, hauling, and pushing become much easier.
Imagine, one cow can equal the labor of three to four average adult humans.
With such strength, work can be done quickly.
So, in some cases, livestock care is even better than that of the average villager.
And Jay's behavior is similar to caring for these livestock well, such as providing sumptuous meals for the workers who have worked all day.
This naturally makes them happy and enthusiastic.
Furthermore, the response from Deli, as the person in charge of the village livestock, greatly enhances Jay's reputation.
He can prove that by providing livestock feed like elephant grass, which Jay brings, it improves the livestock's mood and makes them more diligent in their work.
All of this automatically boosts Jay's prestige in the village.
If that alone makes Jay's parents happy and pleased, as their son receives much praise.
So, Jay's next action surprises and amazes them even more.
This is based on the fact that for almost a week, Jay returns from foraging for livestock, always bringing small game like rabbits, ducks, and jungle fowl.
What made the villagers even more jealous was that Jay knew how to act, always sharing with his family and close friends.
With all of this, Jay could now be said to be the most promising teenager in his village.
Even his uncle, Ricky, a well-known hunter in the village, considered Jay a promising young hunter.
He was able to bring home games every time he traveled.
Deep in the eastern forest, quite far from the village, Jay, who had harvested a clump of elephant grass, was seen resting.
"I've been walking for almost four hours from the village, and I see that there's not much elephant grass left in the eastern forest area.
This only shows that the elephant grass resources in this area are almost exhausted, so I have to find another place to find elephant grass.
Furthermore, after seeing that the grassland in front of the village has become increasingly dry and rarely grows new grass, this shows that the drought seems to be getting worse.
There's not much time left to find fresh elephant grass again!!" Jay began to consider looking for elephant grass in other areas of the forest.
During his last harvest around his village, he discovered that the elephant grass he had harvested wasn't as good as the previous day.
The elephant grass he had collected was already starting to wilt.
This clearly wasn't a good sign for him, "the system displays my status."
Jay, feeling the need for more planning, asked the system to display his status.
[Status
Name: Jay William
Age: 15

Agility: 2/1 adult
Intelligence: 2/1 adult
Height: 167 cm

Properties: 7 ducks / 20 duck eggs / 3 kg fish / 230 kg wild boar / 2.1 kg elephant grass.]
Looking at his status, Jay felt quite satisfied, especially after seeing the addition of the Master Shooting skill he had just added yesterday.
As promised by the system, he had another chance to copy skills within a week, and yesterday he finally took the opportunity to copy Uncle Ricky's skill, "Master Shooting."
With this skill, Jay was confident that his slingshot would be much better than before.
However, looking at the amount of meat in his space, Jay began to feel that it had decreased significantly.
After consuming it himself, Jay also occasionally gave his prey some of his catch.
Yes, to his family and close friends.
This reduced the amount of feed in his enclosure.
On the other hand, he had collected approximately 2.1 tons of animal feed, meaning he could also complete 21 days of animal feed collection.
This was something Jay was grateful for, and he was happy with his decision to switch jobs to become an animal feed collector.
With 21 days of work saved, he could certainly earn additional income for his enclosure.
He immediately upgraded the enclosure to one that could house live animals.
"Since we can no longer find elephant grass in the eastern forest area, now is the time for us to hunt and enrich our meat inside the enclosure.
As for the pigs I've been keeping inside the enclosure for a few days, I'll store them until market day arrives, so I'll sell them on the black market." Jay had decided to upgrade his enclosure in about a week.
This was because he wanted to sell much of his catch on the black market during the market day.
A market day is a special time set aside by the sub-district for villagers in the area to buy and sell various commodities for a limited time.
This market day lasts only half a day and usually occurs once a month.
It usually occurs on the second or third Sunday of the calendar month.
(This is a special time granted by the government to remote farmers where they can conduct open transactions in a special area designated by the sub-district, as long as they are within reasonable limits and not excessive, and do not sell strategic materials.)
"It's decided, let's look for prey in the pine forest ahead." Jay decided to hunt for a few hours before returning.
If he was lucky, he might catch something good within an hour or two, but if he wasn't, he would only be able to return to the village in the afternoon with a basket of animal feed.
After walking for about five minutes, Jay finally arrived at the pine forest.
According to several villagers, this pine forest area stretches quite extensively, at least hundreds of hectares in size.
This marks the boundary between the eastern forest and the southern forest near Adam's village.
This was Jay's first time visiting this area. Due to the long distance and difficult access, this pine forest is rarely visited by villagers.
"Just looking at it is amazing. I feel like this pine forest is quite old," Jay looked at the towering pine trees before him.
"Since this is a rarely visited area, I should be able to find some good results!" Jay then enthusiastically began searching.
