I Become Farmer in My Anime World

Chapter 22: Pine Forest

Sure enough, Jay's luck immediately struck as he walked into the pine forest.

A few meters away, Jay discovered a plethora of brown mushrooms sprouting around the roots of a large pine tree.

Seeing this, Jay's eyes lit up… "I knew my luck was back again…hahaha, aren't these matsutake mushrooms!?" He picked up a brown mushroom with a white stem.

Matsutake mushrooms have various health benefits, including helping lower cholesterol, maintaining heart health, boosting the immune system, and potentially fighting bacterial infections. Furthermore, they are rich in fiber, which is good for digestion.

Furthermore, their chewy and crunchy texture makes them incredibly delicious when cooked.

"Okay… okay… I'll definitely get a lot…" Jay, without being polite, began harvesting the matsutake mushrooms and placed them in his space.

Using his 5-meter-long retrieval ability, Jay skillfully combed the area around the pine tree roots.

From there, at least 1-2 kg of mushrooms could be harvested.

"Let's continue!!!!" Jay happily moved on to another pine tree.

And it seemed he was in a good situation, with matsutake mushrooms of various sizes growing abundantly there.

So, in almost half an hour, Jay had harvested dozens of pine trees bearing matsutake mushrooms growing around their roots.

What made Jay even happier was that he had harvested at least tens of kilograms of mushrooms.

Upon seeing this, Jay was surprised and suspected he might be dreaming.

He knew it wasn't easy to harvest matsutake mushrooms in the wild.

Thinking about this, Jay could only conclude that this pine forest was suitable for their growth.

Perhaps it was the fertile nature or the right environment and temperature that allowed the matsutake mushrooms to grow well.

But whatever it was, Jay didn't want to worry and would simply continue harvesting as many mushrooms as he could. His space was secure and the stored goods would always be fresh, so why hesitate?

Finally, after a bountiful harvest, Jay rested under a pine tree.

"Huuuuu... I'm tired too... but the results are worth it... hahaha," he laughed happily, pleased with the results he had achieved.

Jay imagined the delicious mushrooms and the high price they would fetch when selling them, and he became even more excited.

"Tuk...tuk..." But while he was resting,

Suddenly, something fell on his head.

Curious, Jay picked up the object that had fallen on his head.

Seeing what he found above his head, Jay was a little confused.

"Why did this pine nut fall on my head? And on closer inspection, it looks like it's already been shelled.

Strange... how did it fall!!!" However, Jay's confusion grew even more when he noticed that more and more pine nuts were falling on him.

Seeing this, Jay became curious about who was behind it.

After observing for a while, Jay realized that a brownish tail appeared to be sticking out from the top of a pine tree hole.

Judging by its color and shape, an animal immediately came to Jay's mind.

"Isn't this a squirrel!!!" Jay became excited, his eyes sparkling.

"Hahaha...you're reckless, and look, you'll be the first squirrel I bring home!!" Jay laughed happily.

He then estimated the distance between himself and the squirrel.

Jay found that there was a distance of 1-2 meters from the usable space.

So, Jay thought about climbing the tree.

"Ummm...slowly...don't make any big movements!!" Jay, who was currently climbing the pine tree, moved slowly, and eventually reached a distance within his space.

Using his space function again, Jay saw that the squirrel above him seemed quite plump, and judging by its movements, it seemed to be happily eating a bunch of pine nuts from the tree hole.

Seeing this, Jay was surprised, and vaguely guessed that this squirrel was a thief eating the food of other squirrels.

Judging by its greedy actions, Jay was certain of his guess.

"Oh, I thought only humans were greedy and thieving... I didn't expect squirrels to be the same... Hey... Just think of it as punishment for stealing."

Soon, the squirrel, which was happily eating, suddenly disappeared from the hole.

Looking inside, Jay was quite satisfied with the results, especially when he weighed the fat squirrel. Jay didn't expect it to weigh so much.

1.5 kg was a big and heavy squirrel. If he remembered, tree squirrels usually only weigh 500 to 900 grams, and it was rare for them to weigh so much.

1 kg, except for ground squirrels, which can grow to over 3 kg.

"This is clearly a corrupt squirrel!!! He's so greedy and can get so fat!!" Jay sighed, amazed by what he saw.

"Okay, now it's time to see how much food is stored in this hole!!" Jay then climbed up and reached the edge of the hole.

He found the hole was quite deep, and based on the room's detection, it was about 1 meter deep.

What a commendable piece of work, Jay thought as he imagined a squirrel hollowing out this pine tree.

Unfortunately, this abundant supply turned into a harvest for Jay, and he later found about 4 kg of various nuts, mostly pine nuts and hazelnuts.

After storing all his loot, Jay then climbed down and went back to look for more squirrels.

Now that he had caught one, he felt he could get another.

Moreover, hunting tree squirrels seemed to have its own advantages; if he was lucky, he could find additional nuts stored in tree holes.

Luckily, Jay didn't have to walk too far. In the distance, Jay spotted a squirrel perched on a tree about 20 meters away.

Seeing this, Jay became alert and quickly approached it, until they were about 15 meters away.

"This is the maximum, and if I keep getting closer, the squirrel might escape, so now it's time to use my master shooting skills!!" Jay smiled meaningfully.

Taking a small stone from his pocket, Jay then pulled hard on the slingshot he was holding.

Aiming at the squirrel, Jay felt a clearer vision, and the slingshot, which had previously felt a little inexperienced, now seemed familiar.

His breathing became calmer and slower, as if in rhythm with his heartbeat. Jay felt himself becoming one with the slingshot he was using.

So, confident in his hit on the squirrel, he fired the slingshot he had drawn.

And with a slight whistling sound, the stone shot towards the squirrel.

Within seconds, the squirrel, still standing in the tree, suddenly fell to the ground.

Jay was delighted to see this and immediately approached it.

When Jay reached the spot where the squirrel had fallen, he found its head bleeding and a rock embedded in it.

Seeing this, Jay nodded, realizing that his master's shooting skills lived up to its name. He weighed the squirrel and found it weighed less than 1 kg.

"Yes, quite a harvest... let's see if there's a hole in the tree!" After saving the squirrel, Jay looked up and saw that there was a hole in the tree.

Seeing this, Jay knew there would be another harvest.
