Chapter 20: Wild Boar
After searching for a while, Jay finally found a suitable place to make lunch.
And this time, Jay chose to make roast duck.
After removing a duck weighing about 1.5 kg, Jay quickly began skinning and gutting the duck.
As usual, Jay intended to collect the duck's internal organs for later use.
Next, just as he had done when roasting a wild boar, Jay skewered the duck with a stick about 1 meter long.
He then began roasting it over the fire he had lit.
While waiting for the duck to cook, Jay remained vigilant of his surroundings.
He knew that he was not in a safe place right now, and in other words, danger could always come his way.
So, several preparations were made, including several simple traps that served as alarms.
After waiting for almost half an hour, the duck was finally cooked to perfection, with a generous rub of salt and soy sauce.
Jay looked ready to devour the fragrant roast duck.
What Jay never expected was, just as he was about to enjoy his first bite of the duck,
A loud noise caught his attention.
Jay's gaze immediately became alert, shifting toward the sound.
Jay saw a large, black-furred figure emerge from behind a dense bush, a dozen meters away.
He stared at the figure, about half a meter tall, with a white horn protruding near its nose.
A sense of danger immediately enveloped Jay. He knew that a wild boar weighing around 200 kilograms was in front of him, staring right at him.
Or more precisely, it was staring at the roast duck he was holding.
"What bad luck!!! Why is there a wild boar at a time like this?!
Couldn't you have come after I finished lunch!!" Jay felt his luck was down, for just as he was about to enjoy his lunch, a wild boar suddenly appeared, attracted by the aroma of the roast duck.
But, as if struck by inspiration, Jay realized that behind this dangerous situation lay an opportunity.
"Wait a minute… isn't this the game I've been waiting for!!! With this boar, I'll definitely be able to meet the 100 kg standard of game meat, and my space will be even bigger!!" As if having found a good answer, Jay, who had been complaining, became excited.
On the other hand, the boar stared at Jay, its eyes red, and its nose clearly caught a whiff of a delicious aroma.
But then, when it searched for the source of the aroma and found it, the boar became furious, realizing that a strange creature was currently taking something it wanted.
Without further delay, the boar's anger immediately boiled over.
And it quickly began to charge towards Jay, with the short distance it was only a matter of seconds before it reached him.
On the other hand, when the boar, which had been quiet, became aggressive and rushed at him, Jay was left in a state of shock.
"Are you stupid or greedy?! At first, I was still thinking about how to catch you, but now you've brought yourself to me.
So don't blame me if you have to pay the appropriate price!!" Jay then focused his thoughts with a sarcastic tone.
He quickly commanded the space to store the pig within its storage range.
In an instant, the pig, which had been charging at him, suddenly disappeared a few meters from Jay's position.
Jay, looking at his harvest, felt both calm and pleased with this achievement.
"Stupid pig!!! Now you can just stay there and wait for the right time to take care of yourself!!" Not wanting to bother anymore.
Jay then began to devour the roast duck he had been holding for so long.
Tasting the tender and chewy texture of the roast duck, combined with the savory and sweet flavors of the soy sauce and salt.
Jay felt satisfied with his lunch.
After finishing his lunch, Jay, who was preparing to return to the village, immediately received a notification from the system.
[Congratulations, the space has increased to 1000 m³] and the system stopped beeping.
"Ohhhhh, I got more space! Now my space has reached 10 hectares. Now the 1000 kg target will soon be met.
And with that, a living space similar to a real farm space will soon be opened!!!" Jay excitedly imagined his brighter future.
It took a few more hours before Jay finally managed to… Iba returned to his village.
And this time he handed Deli another load of elephant grass, weighing over 100 kg.
"Wow, Jay, I thought you wouldn't be back until the afternoon, but you're back in the afternoon.
And look at your results today, they look just as good as yesterday," Deli said as he weighed the elephant grass Jay had brought.
The scale read 103 kg.
"So you've completed your task again, Jay, and did you get something good?" Deli, in a happy mood, initially thought about teasing Jay.
Because he remembered that Jay had brought back a rabbit yesterday.
"Wow, uncle, you're amazing! You guessed it, I did get another good thing, and this time I got a wild duck on my way back." Jay then showed him the wild duck he had separated before weighing it.
"Ohhhhh, you're amazing, Jay!!" Deli showered praise again as he saw the nearly 2 kg duck in Jay's hands.
He had to say that Jay seemed quite capable of catching small game.
If he had previously thought Jay was simply lucky, then this second time, he had to say that Jay definitely had some skills.
Curious, Deli asked, "What did you catch the duck with?" Deli asked.
"With this, Uncle," Jay pointed to the slingshot around his neck.
Luckily, he had anticipated this and cleverly used the slingshot as a way to catch the game.
"You're amazing, using a slingshot... that's not easy," Deli praised again.
"Okay then, Uncle Deli, I'll take my leave. I have to go home," Jay said goodbye to Deli.
"Okay, then, see you tomorrow, Jay." Deli watched Jay leave, feeling both happy and a little envious.
As for where that feeling of happiness came from, it came from the livestock that were greedily eating the elephant grass Jay had brought.
Seeing his beloved livestock eating so heartily naturally delighted Deli, but unfortunately, not all the livestock in the village were able to eat it due to the limited amount brought by Jay.
So Deli hoped that Jay would bring back elephant grass today, and his wish was granted.
Another pang of envy arose from Jay's good fortune in obtaining meat for the past two days, as everyone knows that food isn't easy these days, and meat can be considered a luxury.
