HP: Hogwart's Journey

Chapter 26: CHAPTER 26 - Quidditch!

One day after class, Robert was surrounded by the Weasley twins. Their faces wore smug expressions, as if they had some big news. However, Robert's mind was still occupied with the "Werewolf Code of Conduct" that Professor Binns had introduced in class. It was a document issued by the Ministry of Magic in 1637, designed to regulate werewolf behavior, which included the rule that werewolves should lock themselves up during the full moon to avoid harming others. Naturally, since no one wanted to admit to being a werewolf, this regulation was thoroughly ignored. After all, werewolves were severely discriminated against in the wizarding world, even more so than Muggle-born wizards. Purebloods showed more disdain for werewolves than for Muggles.

As Robert thought about this, he remembered Professor Lupin, the good-natured teacher who eventually ended up with Tonks. Robert had a decent relationship with Tonks, and if possible, he would like to help them within his capacity. The "Werewolf Code of Conduct" also mentioned a potion known as Wolfsbane, which was the only known remedy for werewolves. The potion helped them retain their sanity when transformed, though it didn't cure the condition. The ingredients for this potion were expensive, and a skilled potion master was needed to brew it. Werewolves, living in poverty for various reasons, couldn't afford the cost or obtain it without revealing their identities. Moreover, the potion's shelf life was short and it tasted awful.

However, Robert recalled a scam artist he had read about in a book titled [Wandering with Werewolves]. The book mentioned a complex spell that could turn werewolves back into humans. If given the chance, Robert wouldn't mind trying it out.

The twins chattered on for a while, but realized their friend seemed lost in thought.

"Hey, Robert, are you even listening to us?" Fred said with an expressionless face.

"We were the first to share this great news with you, our best friend, and you're ignoring us?" George added, equally deadpan.

"Oh, this is truly heartbreaking," they both said in unison, clutching their chests in mock distress. "We haven't even told Percy or Mum yet."

Robert snapped back to reality and looked at them in confusion, before suddenly realizing what they were talking about.

"You mean...?" Robert's mind clicked. "You were selected for the Gryffindor Quidditch team?"

The twins beamed with wide smiles, each putting an arm around Robert's shoulders as they joyfully said, "Exactly! We're the beaters!"

"We'll be training alongside the official members, but we won't get to play until next year."

"We can't wait!" they added enthusiastically.

As they turned the corner of the staircase, they spotted Charlie, the Gryffindor Quidditch team captain, who was overjoyed about his younger brothers being chosen as substitutes. He was spinning in circles in front of the Fat Lady's portrait, frustrating her to no end as she scolded him to stop.

Robert just thought, "You're celebrating too early."

The Weasley family was clearly very talented when it came to Quidditch. Charlie, the twins, Ron, and Ginny had all made the Gryffindor team. As for Bill and Percy… well, Robert found another excuse to distance himself from Quidditch—"studying makes me happy" and all that.

Charlie noticed the trio approaching and jogged over, shaking Robert's hand warmly. "Thanks again, Robert, for helping Fred and George with their homework. I mean, them making it onto the Gryffindor Quidditch team is a huge deal. I'll write to Mum right now; she'll be thrilled!"

It seemed the Weasley siblings had all but filled their heads with thoughts of Quidditch.

The final match of the year was once again Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. As a friend, Robert made sure to find some time to attend.

Hogwarts' Quidditch League used a point accumulation system, with each house playing against the other three houses once. The matches took place on weekends in November, February, March, and May. Hufflepuff was currently leading the scoreboards, followed by Ravenclaw—because their matches were already finished.

The Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws were now fully in celebration mode, nestled in their respective stands cheering for their friends. The Hufflepuffs even had banners up, while the Ravenclaws, in a slightly more subdued manner, had swapped their hats for red ones.

Soon enough, the two teams took to the field. The Gryffindor players looked grim, as they hadn't won a championship in years. With the referee's whistle, Charlie, the seeker and captain, soared into the air, starting to direct his teammates.

To be honest, Robert couldn't understand their formations. Though he had read plenty of books, Quidditch just didn't excite him. However, if the game involved just riding brooms and throwing mud, Robert would have been all in.

Lost in such thoughts, Robert turned his attention to the field. The seven Gryffindor players got into position, waiting for the whistle. The keeper, Oliver Wood, a tall and determined-looking player, was reliable. Robert didn't know the rest of the team, but when the Slytherins moved, they charged forward without hesitation.

At the commentary table sat a small girl who was not yet the Quidditch match's main commentator. Professor McGonagall sat beside her, her stern expression suggesting she was ready to have the nervous girl replaced.

As Oliver sent a Bludger flying, the Slytherin Beater swung his bat and sent the ball flying toward Oliver, striking him square in the face. The ball's impact left Oliver bruised and bloody, and another Slytherin quickly scored a goal with the Quaffle.

Cheers erupted from the Slytherin stands as they earned another 10 points. The score was now 110 to 200, and unless Gryffindor caught the Golden Snitch soon, they were headed for defeat! Even if they caught it now, they could only reach 260 points. Before the match, they had all agreed that if Gryffindor didn't score at least 320 points, they would once again lose the championship.

Seeing Oliver's condition, Charlie grimly assessed the situation. It was time to go after the Golden Snitch, even if it meant they wouldn't win the championship.
