HOTD! Busujima's Step Brother

Chapter 105: Chapter 105 – Sewer Lab

The bullet hit its head and made a hole there. While the wound didn't seem to affect itself, it was also something that this mutant couldn't regenerate from.

Good thing was this mutant was a big target. Aiming at it wasn't hard, unlike the dogs.

Ratatata!

So I unloaded the magazine onto it.

"Graaar...!" The mutated let out an earth-shattering scream. Its entire body convulsed and shivered.

I kept firing, emptying the rest of the mag at its body, making sure I didn't miss any vital part of it. My shots were hitting their marks perfectly. And I didn't miss a single bullet.

It was a satisfying experience to shoot a target like this. Still, this was crazy. How could it still move even though it had been riddled with holes all over its body?

Suddenly, its body shrunk and then elongated in my direction. It leaped with a fast movement, trying to bite me with its mouth that opened to four parts. Like a blooming flower, the mouth was sharp, enough to cut my flesh.

But my reflex was better and faster.

I quickly dodged to the side, evading its attack. I then shot at it again.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three rounds hit its body, but it didn't slow down or stop. It continued to move toward me, undeterred by my attack.

However, it moved slower than me.

I ran away, evading its charge and moving around the tunnel.

The mutated creature stopped its attack, letting out an angry growl. Its red eyes looked at me fiercely. I could sense anger in its gaze.

"Fuck!"

It charged again. But this time it was even faster. The speed was faster than an animal that leaped toward its prey.

I immediately unsheathed my sword and dodged to the side, using the momentum of its attack against it. My blade sliced through its body easily.

Blood sprayed everywhere and it crashed against the sewer's wall.

I didn't waste my time and slashed at the mutated, trying to finish it off.

My first slash was successful. I had managed to cut some flesh off of its body. I continued to slash and hack at it until it stopped moving completely.

Breathing roughly, I wiped the sweat formed on my forehead.

"Fuck."

Even with high stamina, I was tired after all the actions I took. It felt like I had just finished a marathon or something similar. I took a deep breath to calm my beating heart.

This mutated monster was tough.

But at least it had stopped moving. It was no longer alive. I sheath my sword and turned my gaze back to the tunnel path that the mutant used to block.

Now the path had opened up. But there were still some obstacles blocking my way.

"Grr..."

Zombies.

A lot of them, standing still as if waiting for their next meal.

"Damn." I sighed and took out my rifle, reloading it.

I dealt with them fast to move forward, leaving the dead body of the blob of flesh monster. My hands never stopped moving, killing zombies that blocked the path. I killed them quickly and efficiently, not wasting a single shot.

After a few moments I arrived at the end of the path. The door to a storage area stood in front of me.

"Finally."

I opened the door, revealing a large room that was used for storing equipment and tools. There was nothing special about the place. Just some shelves and a few cabinets where people could store their stuff.

Still, this place was too clean for a room in the sewer. The floor was wet but there was a sign of human activity in the past 2 months.

"Let's look around for something useful."

I searched through the storage, hoping to find a weapon or two that I could use later on. Or maybe a hidden door that leads to Umbrella Corporation's underground laboratory.

However...

"..."

I was greeted by none of it. Instead, a corpse sat against the wall, seemingly sleeping. A handgun was lying on the ground near its right hand, and its face was pale from the loss of blood.

There were several holes in the corpse's body and it looked like it had been shot multiple times.

"Is it suicide?"

It seemed like this guy killed himself rather than getting killed by the monster.

The man was wearing white coat and pants. There were some documents scattered around the area. Some were soaked by water but most of them were still dry. Some of the papers had been crumbled into a ball while some had been ripped apart.

It seemed like this man tried to hide something.

And he did this to hide something from the monster. Maybe he tried to destroy it before any zombies or B.O.W found him.

Either that or he was found out by someone when he was working on the project.

I observed his body for a minute and found something hanging on his neck.

An identification card. Maybe the guy had access to the secret lab?

"..."

When I read it, I couldn't help but to sigh loudly. This guy, or I should call him doctor, was William Birkin.

Someone who was important to the Resident Evil franchise. This was also the guy that started the whole Raccoon City incident.

"Shit. I am too late, huh? I should've come earlier."

To think he would die in a place like this when his body wasn't even ravaged by a horde of zombies or mutated.

"Who could have done this?"

"I wonder who?"

A woman's voice rang from behind alongside a feeling of cold steel being pressed against the back of my head. A feeling of danger assaulted my senses. My whole body tensed.

But my expression remained neutral, even when a gun was pointed to the back of my head.

Why? Because the voice that spoke to me sounded familiar.

I could see her fair figure from the puddle on the floor.

Pale white skin, red-colored turtleneck with pistol strapped on the holster, beautiful figure that would charm any man, short silky smooth hair, and sharp, calculating eyes.

Ada Wong had threatened me at gunpoint.
