Hogwarts: Legacy of the Necromancer

Chapter 202: Chapter 202: The Girl Collecting Seven Souls

Lucy Pidell didn't need to showcase all her skills—just the basics were enough. Once she demonstrated them, Regulus Black could naturally understand her capabilities through what she displayed.

As a necromancer, she practiced skills from the [Bones and Toxins] branch—six in the bone category, and four in toxins.

Lucy Pidell raised her hand and cast "Bone Fang."

Bone Fang: Summons the fang of the Tagao Dragon. After striking an enemy, it inflicts continuous damage. The wounded target cannot heal.

However, this Bone Fang wasn't launched. Instead, she held it in her hand. Then, it began to transform—the part she gripped remained the same, but the rest morphed into a twin-bladed dagger.

Immediately afterward, a green light flickered on the Bone Fang in her hand—Poisoned Dagger.

Poisoned Dagger: The necromancer coats a dagger with deadly poison, either magical or alchemical.

The originally pale-white bone dagger now emitted a faint green glow, turning into a deadly toxic weapon.

Her use of these two spells was so smooth and precise that Regulus Black silently gave her high marks in his mind.

"I hope you haven't only been practicing just those two skills."

Regulus Black didn't truly believe Lucy had neglected the others—he merely reminded her like a teacher would.

But it seemed his words displeased Lucy Pidell a little.

"I've used a dagger like this to kill off a few thugs before."

As she spoke, Lucy raised the dagger and placed it against Regulus Black's neck, slowly dragging it across his chest.

"But that doesn't matter to me now. It only gives me a reason to punish you."

Regulus Black glanced down at the dagger, then reached out and grabbed Lucy's waist, shaking her forcefully.

A bloodcurdling scream echoed through the office. After a while, the female assistant who had threatened Regulus Black with a blade was properly disciplined on the spot.

Fully dressed once more, Regulus Black picked up the dagger that had fallen to the floor. Its sharp green glow still flickered along the bone. Though it was originally a product of magic and should have vanished automatically, Regulus could feel that the dagger had become solid—no longer purely magical, but material. The magic now served only as a medium for transformation.

This meant Lucy Pidell, the former Squib from a pure-blood family, possessed an exceptional talent for transfiguration magic.

"Do you think this world is one of order—or chaos?"

Regulus Black idly asked the question while playing with the dagger. Behind him, a body limp like a snake leaned against his back.

"Where there's order, there's chaos. Chaos is just the process of creating order. And when one order transitions into another, that shift is inevitably accompanied by chaos."

Lucy Pidell was utterly drained and had used up all her strength just to cling to Regulus Black's back. But when her lover asked a question, she responded naturally—her education showing even in exhaustion.

"The Soul of Bone spell may be an offensive skill in your hands, but I can turn decay into wonder. How about I find you a servant? One that might not help with your work, but can still serve you—both as a shield and a weapon."

Soul of Bone: Though it only strikes one enemy at a time, it has a homing effect. Before the mana is exhausted, it can be set to target a new enemy.

Regulus Black cast Soul of Bone onto the dagger. A wailing soul was unwillingly sealed into it, wrapping the blade in an ethereal glow, making it shimmer as if it weren't quite real.

Finally, Regulus used Whispers of Confusion to communicate with the cursed dagger.

"Miss Lucy Pidell needs a handmaiden—someone completely loyal in body and soul, who will become both shield and weapon. But before that, collect seven wicked souls to build your strength."

As he finished, the dagger let out a low hum in response, as though answering. Regulus Black then used Apparition to send the dagger away.

"Wait—where did you send the dagger?"

Only then did Lucy Pidell react, realizing that her lover had just done something rather significant.

Based on what he just said, it sounds like he wants to bring a girl to his side after she's killed seven people! Is that really necessary? Does it have to involve murder?Placing someone who might have killed seven people right next to me—what kind of insanity is that?

"That... Why collect seven souls? Is it just to enhance the dagger bearer's power?"

Lucy Pidl didn't know whether she should object to Regulus Black's arrangement.

"If she has a strong urge to kill, assign her the dirty work. If she's less inclined to kill, assign her as a bodyguard."

Regulus Black set the tone for the situation before answering Lucy Pidl's question.

"No matter who ends up with the dagger, she will eventually become your attendant. And the fact that she managed to collect the souls would prove that she has some luck on her side."

With a wave of his wand, Lucy Pidl's body was "cleansed," her hair became "silky as water," her face was "radiant," and her clothes automatically dressed her. Within a few breaths, her entire appearance had been tidied up.

"After all, my command was to 'collect.' Killing evildoers counts as collecting. Watching evildoers die also counts. It depends on how the dagger bearer chooses. But regardless of who receives the dagger, until the seven sinful souls are gathered, they won't know about your existence."

"That's a relief. I was worried a serial killer might suddenly appear at my side. And I'd have to protect her too—don't you think that could cause trouble? That's why I asked."

Although Lucy Pidl knew that killing was illegal and wrong, she wasn't a child anymore. She had seen the dark side of society. People were dying all the time, and many of them were murdered. All she wanted was to keep her own hands clean.

After studying necromancy, Lucy Pidl had grown indifferent to death.

On the steps of a small-town church, a girl was leaning against the railing, dozing. This latest escape had left her mentally and physically exhausted. For hundreds of years, no matter how many families took her in, the outcome was always the same.

The temptation of immortality was like a devil's whisper. No matter how kind a family seemed, time would eventually wear them down. Looking at her eternally youthful face and body while they themselves aged filled them with resentment. That resentment would then turn into tension, suspicion, and eventually, invasions of her privacy.

The effects of immortality weren't permanent. She had to drink a specially prepared potion several times a year to maintain her young body and mind. But this also left her defenseless against threats.

Could a child fight back against an adult? Could a little girl resist a violent man?Over the centuries, she had experienced countless misfortunes—and countless moments of happiness.

This time, after 30 years of living together, the family that adopted her finally fell apart because the eldest "gentleman," the grandfather, was nearing death. That triggered the collapse. The "father" secretly followed her to where she hid her potions and had already tampered with them.

The potion, which should have remained buried for at least a month, had been exposed to sunlight and mutated. A third of it was missing. Clearly, the family had lost faith in her excuses.

She had told them from the start that the potion only worked on minors. If they wanted to see its effects, their now 30-something son could try it and remain youthful with her—become her companion.

But back then, they didn't believe her and didn't dare use their son to verify it.

Yet now, 30 years had passed.

They regretted their decision but stubbornly believed the potion couldn't be as limited as she claimed.

They stole the potion. But of course, the tests showed it was ineffective. The dying man's desperation turned into overwhelming malice.

Men in FBI-labeled uniforms appeared—she had been betrayed by another family.

She drank the remaining potion. The mutation and reduced dosage caused excruciating pain in her abdomen. But there was no time to make more.

Enduring the pain, she went three days without food or water, trying everything she could to switch cars and flee aimlessly across the country.

"If I get caught, I'll be imprisoned. If imprisoned, I'll surely die. And all of this... is because I have no power."

As that thought crossed her mind, a pale gray dagger suddenly appeared before her eyes.
