Chapter 4: CH 4
A Mystery Unfolds – Kiba's Report
Despite Rias' calm response and the expectant gazes of the others, Kiba Yuuto didn't seem pleased. Instead, he looked hesitant, as if struggling to find the right words.
Sensing something was off, Koneko Toujou—normally quiet and indifferent—tilted her head and asked:
"Kiba-senpai… did the Fallen Angel escape?"
Rias, Akeno, and the rest turned to Kiba in surprise.
After all, as Rias' Knight, Kiba was an exceptional swordsman who wielded the Sacred Gear: Sword Birth. Even among mid-tier devils, he was considered highly skilled.
A low-class Fallen Angel shouldn't have been able to escape him.
So if the enemy hadn't fled, what was troubling him?
Kiba exhaled slowly and shook his head.
"No… the Fallen Angel didn't escape."
"But when I arrived, it had already been killed."
"Oh?"
Rias' crimson eyes gleamed with curiosity.
Rather than looking bothered or angry, she smirked slightly.
"So someone took our prey in my territory?"
"How interesting."
Akeno, mirroring Rias' amusement, smiled and sipped her tea.
Only Koneko remained emotionless.
Kiba, however, maintained a serious expression.
"From what I observed, it seems that the Fallen Angel was killed while feeding. The battle ended in an instant—there were barely any signs of struggle."
He paused, replaying the scene in his mind before continuing:
"The most disturbing part was the wound… The Fallen Angel's head was severed in one clean motion. The body remained standing for a moment before it even realized it was dead."
"There wasn't even a trace of pain in its expression."
"Whoever did it… was incredibly fast. Their swordsmanship was extraordinary."
Akeno's eyes narrowed at the revelation.
She turned to Kiba, speaking in a casual tone:
"A master swordsman? I wonder how they compare to Kiba-kun?"
After all, Kiba Yuuto was the strongest swordsman in their group.
If there was someone in Kuoh Town who outmatched him, it was worth investigating.
Kiba hesitated, then spoke honestly:
"Himejima-senpai… as much as I hate to admit it, if it's purely about swordsmanship…"
"I would be dead in an instant."
His words startled everyone.
Even Rias' fingers, which had been lightly tracing her teacup, paused for a moment.
Akeno also stopped midway through pouring tea.
Only Koneko remained still, though her golden eyes flickered briefly.
Kiba clenched his fists slightly, his expression serious.
"However…" he continued, "if I use my Sacred Gear, I'm confident I won't lose so easily."
He recalled the wound on the Fallen Angel's corpse—a cut so fast that the victim didn't even register its own death.
"The speed of the strike… was beyond human reaction time."
The room fell silent for a moment.
Clearly, the mystery swordsman had caught everyone's interest.
Su Hai's New Sword – But No Magic
Meanwhile, Su Hai had finally returned home.
Unable to contain his excitement, he immediately summoned the Sword of Oath Victory from his System Space.
Holding the legendary weapon, Su Hai could feel its immense power—but there was a problem.
He couldn't activate it.
The holy energy required to unleash Excalibur's full potential was completely absent in his body.
Even though he had gained the Breath of Thunder and had superhuman strength, he still lacked magic power.
"So I can use it as a normal sword… but I can't unleash Excalibur's true form?"
He sighed in frustration.
In order to fire the legendary energy wave from Excalibur, one needed mana or holy power—something Su Hai did not possess.
Still, there was some good news.
Even without its full power, the Sword of Oath Victory was still an incredibly powerful weapon.
More importantly, in this world, it was the natural enemy of demons and Fallen Angels.
"I guess I'll have to find a way to gain energy later…"
Shrugging off his concerns, Su Hai placed the sword away.
After all, today had been exhausting.
Even though his body wasn't tired, his mind was drained.
This was his first time killing someone, and even though the victim was a Fallen Angel, he couldn't deny the gravity of the situation.
Still, he was surprised—he didn't feel guilt or disgust.
Only a strange sense of tiredness.
"Maybe I'm already getting used to this world…"
With that thought, he closed his eyes and drifted into sleep.
A New Goal – Hunting for Golden Eggs
The next morning, Su Hai woke up to his alarm.
Stretching, he felt completely refreshed, but he also made a note to be more cautious in the future.
After washing up, grabbing a piece of bread, and drinking a glass of milk, he left for Kuoh Academy.
However, going to school wasn't just about attending classes today.
Last night, Su Hai had come up with a new plan.
Since Rias and Akeno had Golden Eggs, then surely other main characters from the original story would too.
"Kiba Yuuto… Koneko Toujou… and even Hyoudou Issei…"
They all had to be potential Golden Egg holders.
So today, Su Hai set himself a goal—to find all the Golden Egg carriers in Kuoh Academy and unlock their rewards as soon as possible.
"The stronger I get, the safer I'll be in this world."
With this in mind, Su Hai quickened his pace.
An Unexpected Encounter
By the time he arrived at Kuoh Academy, he noticed something unexpected.
At the school gates, Rias and Akeno had just arrived as well.
But they weren't alone.
Beside them stood a small, silver-haired girl with an expressionless face.
Her golden eyes were sharp, despite her otherwise cute appearance.
Su Hai immediately recognized her.
"Koneko Toujou…"
And what caught his attention even more—
Above Koneko's head, a Golden Egg hovered.
It wasn't as powerful as Rias' or Akeno's—only a two-star egg—but it was still far superior to the one-star egg from the Fallen Angel last night.
"Alright… Looks like today's hunt is already off to a good start."
Just as Su Hai was lost in thought, a sultry voice called out to him.
"Ara~? Are you trying to get me and Rias at the same time, Su Hai-kun?"
Looking up, he found Akeno smiling playfully at him.
Her violet eyes twinkled with amusement, her lips curving into a teasing smirk.
"…This woman is dangerous."
