High School DxD: “The future Harem King”

Chapter 5: CH 5

Akeno's Mischief – Public Embarrassment for Su Hai

Akeno Himejima deliberately raised her voice, ensuring that everyone nearby could hear her words.

Immediately, whispers erupted around them.

"Damn it! This guy…!"

"B*d! Why couldn't it be me…?"

Every student in the vicinity—both male and female—turned to stare at Su Hai with resentment.

If glares could kill, he would have been obliterated on the spot.

Su Hai let out a strained smile, sensing the murderous aura directed at him.

"Shino-san, if I recall correctly, I didn't do anything improper to you or Rias-san, did I?"

He chose his words carefully, but he knew one thing for sure—

People who smile while squinting their eyes are terrifying.

And Akeno… was the worst of them all.

Unfortunately for him, cultural differences worked against him.

Since Japanese students were unused to being addressed by their first names, Su Hai's informal way of speaking only made things worse.

Now, everyone around them was even more convinced that he had a close relationship with both Rias and Akeno.

Akeno, still playing along, sighed dramatically, placing a delicate hand near her eyes as if wiping away invisible tears.

"Su Hai-kun, how could you forget what you did to me and Rias yesterday…?"

She sniffled twice, pretending to be heartbroken.

Meanwhile, out of everyone's view, the corners of her lips curled into a smirk.

She was clearly teasing him—all because he had dared to touch her hair the day before.

"Human scum!"

"Disgraceful beast!"

"This is unforgivable!"

The crowd exploded with outrage, their hostility towards Su Hai intensifying.

He immediately understood what was happening.

"If I stay here any longer, I'm going to be burned at the stake."

Without hesitation, Su Hai turned to Rias and Akeno.

"I have class, so I'll be going first!"

Then, he spun around and ran—escaping the scene before things got any worse.

Akeno's Suspicion – Is Su Hai More Than He Seems?

Watching Su Hai flee, Rias looked at Akeno with curiosity.

"Akeno, you seem quite interested in him."

Among all of Rias' peerage, Akeno had been the first to join.

Because of this, Rias knew her better than anyone.

Akeno might enjoy pranking people, but she only teased those she found interesting.

Akeno gave a small smile.

"As expected, I can't hide anything from you, Rias."

Her eyes followed Su Hai's retreating figure before she continued:

"It's not that I care about him—"

"But don't you think Su Hai-kun is… different?"

"And more importantly…"

"The place where the Fallen Angel was killed last night…"

"Wasn't it right along the path Su Hai-kun took home?"

Akeno's voice was calm, but her eyes glowed with intrigue.

Hearing this, Rias' expression changed slightly.

If Su Hai had left school late last night, then the timing matched perfectly.

"Are you saying… he was the one who killed that Fallen Angel?"

Rias furrowed her brows slightly.

"But that doesn't make sense. When he enrolled, he was tested as a normal human. There's no way he could have killed a Fallen Angel."

A moment later, a realization struck her.

"Wait… are you suggesting he's a human Sacred Gear user?"

For the first time, Rias looked genuinely intrigued.

If Su Hai possessed a Sacred Gear, it would explain everything.

Koneko, who had been silently observing, finally spoke.

"If that's the case… why don't we just test him?"

Rias' eyes brightened at the suggestion.

"Good idea."

If Su Hai really was a Sacred Gear wielder, they could simply verify it firsthand.

And if they were wrong—

They could just erase his memory with magic.

Either way, it wouldn't be a problem.

With her decision made, Rias smiled and led the way to the classroom.

A Trap is Set – Su Hai is Targeted

Once Rias and Akeno arrived at the classroom, they immediately locked eyes with Su Hai.

Their gazes lingered.

Su Hai, who was completely unaware of their plans, suddenly felt a shiver run down his spine.

"Why do I feel like I'm in trouble…?"

But before he could think too deeply about it, the morning bell rang.

With the teacher arriving, Su Hai dismissed his unease and focused on class.

However—

The morning lessons were absolute torture for him.

His mind kept drifting back to the Golden Eggs.

"I need to increase my strength as soon as possible…"

Yet, he couldn't just leave class.

If he skipped school too much, it would draw attention.

So he had no choice but to sit through the entire morning.

Finally, lunchtime arrived.

As soon as the bell rang, Su Hai sprang to his feet, eager to continue his Golden Egg search.

But—

"Su Hai-kun, we have something to ask you. Can we speak to you alone?"

Rias suddenly stepped forward, blocking his path.

A smile played on her lips, but there was a hidden sharpness in her eyes.

Beside her, Akeno stood with her arms crossed, watching him closely.

Su Hai immediately knew something was wrong.

"…Do I have the right to refuse?"

Rias and Akeno simply smiled in response.

Their expressions gave him the answer.

"…Yeah, I figured."

Letting out a small sigh, Su Hai resigned himself to his fate.

"Fine… lead the way."

With that, Rias and Akeno turned and walked away—and Su Hai reluctantly followed.

An Isolated Confrontation

Their destination was the Occult Research Club's headquarters.

Specifically—

The secluded clearing in the woods, where Su Hai had confessed to Rias the day before.

Once they arrived, Rias and Akeno stopped and turned to face him.

Su Hai, looking around, realized—

They had brought him somewhere completely isolated.

He narrowed his eyes.

"Yeah… I really don't like where this is going."
