Chapter 15: c15
The day after the wedding
-West. Northern Kingdom. winterfell
-Lord's Office-
Hariric was exhausted. Their wedding night had been what it had to be at least in his mind. He felt that it had to be as magical as possible. Of course things almost got out of hand when some jerk tried to strip his wife naked. The people first saw the new Lord Stark go for Ice on his back, which filled many with dread. The legendary sword was terrifying in everyone's eyes and no one wanted to fuck with it. After that Hariric grabbed her wife and took her away like a princess. They all watched as he took her to what was her personal suite. What was clear to everyone is that the screams were heard until midnight and later that day many women from the north (and the south) were determined to ask for notes so their partners could be just as capable.
Hariric smiled. Ashara obviously remembered a lot from his time as Tonks but he still had command over the magical sexual quality of him. He could still remember when Arcthurus took him to experience that magic. In his own words it was to make sure he never fell for the magic in question knowing that there could be several people who could try to get their hands on him somehow and that was one method. Later in his will he read that it was a Black custom to give such education to his members to ensure that there were no later bedroom problems. This was not told to him before of course as no Black wanted to be in the crosshairs of a magical boy scientist.
Hariric had used all the tricks of the trade to make his wife happy in what was in his mind an absolute necessity. A happy wife equals a happy day for him. So he had completely surprised Ashara again, making her reach nirvana. She only knew that she could feel the stares this morning from the servants when she went to training. Many of the women were giving him looks of pure desire which made him very amused. Anyway after her two hour workout routine she went for breakfast and now here she was.
His father was now entirely happy to get the whole Lord Stark and Lord of the North thing out of the way. This was due to the amount of work he had. He couldn't blame him. The amount of paperwork was great. Unfortunately for his father, Hariric had long since found a solution to the paperwork. It was an artifact that I call Diamond of Knowledge. With this diamond in hand he was able to find out what was on each piece of paper and that meant he didn't have to read giant reports but rather summaries of said reports which he was grateful for. He would also have to think about selecting a secretary and placing a bunch of spells on him to be able to order his work as well as possible.
As Hariric watched, he took in the reports. The first report was from the night watch. They were happy with him. And he had been granted control of both the New Gift and Brandon's Gift in lands. His reason for it is that right now there were no workers. He was also informed that some members of the night's watch had suggested that he remove wildlings to work there. Hariric had been about to kill someone when he read that information knowing what a very bad idea it was to do such a thing. He frankly preferred to kill the savages than deal with them in any friendly way.
Some might think that he was exaggerating in some way. Heck some might say this was overkill. But hariric did not have much sympathy for them. If the average Northerner was xenophobic to the south then the savages were even worse. At least the northerners' reason was because they had to deal with their shit. Almost three hundred years of fucking rule and reign. Whereas for the savages it was the simple matter that they believed you either lived their way or were less than nothing. So no. He didn't want any savages south of the wall. Even if the white walkers were coming and much more. He preferred to end all human life north of the wall.
Cruel? Yeah. But first of all hariric had to worry about his subordinates and his vassals. It was just a big no in hariric's mind to deal with the wildlings. He didn't want to adjust. If they were brought south there was too good a chance they would try to follow their rules. That's why he was happy to put an entire legion there. His mission was not only to rescue the wall in case of need, but on top of that was the mission that any wild incursions would be treated with extreme prejudice. It was hard to do indeed but to Hariric he could still remember finding a village that was raided by wildlings. He didn't give him the best opinion of them if he had to be blunt.
Another report that came was of potential houses to take control of said lands. Hariric saw that there were many small houses that could clearly be good but after thinking twice he chose the Cassels. The reason for this was an extremely loyal family almost on a fanatic level. If he had to entrust the north gate to someone who wasn't his family it would be the Cassels. Besides that although the cassels could certainly benefit, he still had to choose a new lord for Skagos. They had been using the island as an eastern shipyard for the time being certainly but he had yet to choose a lord for said island and he refused to put both Dareon and Tykren on it. He had two territories for each of them in mind. As the biggest allies of his with a cell at least he wanted them in good standing
Other reports were complaints and requests made to the Staark family. They wanted to expand the farmlands throughout the North and Hariric saw that it was because now that it was about to be opened to trade from the South it would be beneficial. Giving it as an agreement immediately he began to use his magic to write letters to each of the lords for permission and that he would send his men to prepare the different fields. Luckily winter hadn't come yet which was good. He also preferred things like that if he had to be frank. This would allow more workers and increase the population level of the north
Another report was from the mountain clans. He had sent them a letter with an agreement. He would build three places where they could live well and in peace as well as see their towns flourish if in exchange they gave him permission to build a fortress in the mountains to mine gold, iron and silver in them. Of course being a monstrous mountain range he would have to build several fortresses but he decided to start with one. The only thing is that he did not intend to put any noble in them, but it would be the lords of the mountains themselves who would be directing the exploitation since the lords of the northern mountains were much more civilized than those of the valley. although of course the valley had a gift for pissing on people
The report explained how the lords of the mountains gave him permission to do so and only asked in exchange for a good shelter for their people and food and water, although he could get better liquor. Hariric nodded. With this new amount of materials he could increase the funding of the Northern army and at the same time maintain a level of equipment. He would have to do the same as he had done with the other mines. There were times when magic could be incredibly unfair. He gave her a monstrous advantage over the other big players. Not that Hariric had a problem with it.
At that point Varyn Waters walked through the door. The girl had been a young magical girl that she encountered years ago in King's Landing. He made her his personal assistant and shadow bodyguard. She was one of the many people who had received magical combat training only instead of how her brothers and sisters belonged to the wolves of war she had placed her as her secretary and protector. Some would have bad thoughts about it but it was not for anything special. Only the girl had less of a disposition than most wolves and she had suffered more than a little from the fair treatment. The town could be full of morons really. So she was bringing him vital information of the day.
''My lord, I have the agenda for you as well as I bring you the information you wanted about the expenses of the wedding celebrated and how much they have affected the coffers of the Stark family''. Varyn was proud of her work. She was the shield in the shadow of her lord. While her comrades were the swords and daggers she was the shield and she knew that now that her lord had married she would soon have more. Also her brothers would possibly gain shields. It was normal if she had to say so. Any self-respecting lord would look above all else to enjoy great protection against any possible enemy. It made her very happy to know that her lady counted so highly of her. Especially given its origin
''thank you Varyn. Please start with the expense report. I want to know more or less how much food and drink has been taken as well as how much the guests are costing us as well as how much money they are leaving in the city''. Hariric sighed. This had the earmarks of becoming one of those sovereign headaches that he actually feared so much. He couldn't weaken now though so taking a look at the woman saw her pull out several different reports. Another item that many treasured was paper. Paper was much more useful than parchment in people's minds as well as easy to work with. It also had a higher level of production. Of course with their use of magic it meant they didn't run out of trees. Once again magic was very useful
''Of course my lord. Nearly two thirds of the liquor has been consumed. It must be taken into account that in addition to the wedding guests there is the celebration of the soldiers and guards of these as well as ours. In the matter of food, we have only been affected by the loss of a third, my lord. As for whether there have been higher expenses, well, no, but there have been some complaints, my lord.'' Varyn read the report before him. This was done almost daily by what were the people who basically worked in the administrative help department. Her lord was wise to create said department since he allowed her to keep track of things
''alcohol consumption is not something that worries me too much. I doubt we are going to have many celebrations for at least a year. Food is a bit of a concern but hey we can always reinforce food stores when time passes. Thanks to the glass gardens we have food not really based on meat or fish but what is that about a varyn event?''. Hariric gave Varyn a look as if he couldn't believe it. An event on her wedding day? The noble who did it must already have balls if he had to say it and he could only see some idiots behind it.
''I'm afraid that's how I reported my lord. Miss Cersei Lannister has been incredibly annoying. It seems that she drank too much yesterday and well she said some things. There has been the odd fight. Her room was destroyed my lord. On top of that it is said that she is the one responsible for some of the damage to the glassware in the tower. Varyn spoke coldly. Cersei Lannister reminded her too much of the typical southern bitch that she thought her name gave her more value than she really did. Frankly, the very idea that she thought she had any authority in the North of hers amused him. She was already seeing the anger in her lord's eyes.
''I see. It seems that the meeting he had planned with the Lannister lord is not going to start off on the right foot in the slightest. This is going to be a huge pain. My bannermen will expect me to punish her in some way. But she is the daughter of the lord hand of the kingdom. Simply doing this would mean turning against house Lannister.'' Of course she didn't care. If House Lannister started trouble he just had to send the wolves of war and hit where he knew Tywin would hurt the most and that was it. But that wasn't to say that he was exactly happy to be caught up in this shit storm. Frankly the girl is an idiot if she had to say so
''If you'll excuse me, my lord, my recommendation would be to simply make the Lannisters pay for the damage as well as write a ban that House Lannisters can send her back if she's not old enough to behave in the presence of other lords, then she I shouldn't be in the presence of northern nobles.'' Varyn knew her lord could find trouble but she had a lot of faith in her lord being able to solve problems. Plus it wasn't over the top. She could afford it. However, the dark smile of her lord promised something much worse. As always, he was not one to forgive any slight against him in any way.
''we'll see. Fine, but tell me, has there been any expense on the part of the visitors? Is there anything worth mentioning for all of us that will make the north see more business in the future of reporting?'' Varyn was possibly with the report in hand. He would like to know if they were going to have more of a redneck presence at home if he had to be honest. On top of that Hariric had to say with all the things the northern capital had he knew and could honestly say there was a good chance the North would see an increase in requests. Better that way too since he knew that the other northern lords had no love for dealing with southerners which was good news for him.
''Yeah. Lord Oberyn has been seen in our brothel houses quite often. It has also been reported that Lord Oberyn has taken a surprising interest in our apothecaries. He seemed enamored with the new meds and much more. I think the prince loves what medicine is my lord if only to know better ways to kill his targets my lord.'' The report talked about how Oberyn had been interested in medicines just as he had been interested in where the medicines came from and if. Knowing that the apothecary provided the medicines to all the citizens of the capital was good. But the man was now interested in visiting Isengard in order to see more of the place that was the source of northern knowledge.
''Prince Oberyn is more than anyone else really interested in knowledge. He is a man who treasures knowledge for what it is more than anything. However I will not deny that he is possibly one of the most notable assassins of all time. I wish I could have a chat with him before he goes back to Dorne. He talks a lot about the potential of him. From how Ashara had described it to Oberyn, Hariric could put him in a mix of Sirius Black for his love of fun and the expected ruthlessness of Regulus Black. He was certainly an interesting man. Yet he also counted on both men's flaws. Nearsightedness and a little too much pride and craving. Yet he still seemed like she would like him.
''I'll see if I can make room for you my lord. The next person to watch out for is Jaime Lannister. He has been looking mostly at the different armories in Wintertown to see the different equipment. From swords to armor my lord. He seemed excited to see our work with steel that is simply superior to any southerner. From what I can tell he has been talking about ordering himself an armor and sword my lord. Jaime was really a simple young man and a good boy. But too easy to sway just by how he behaved around her sister which was quite dangerous since her sister was greedy and much more to say about her in the whole thing.
''I see. Give him a fifteen percent discount. This will make more people see our weapons and think about acquiring them. Even if they are just mercenary companies. Not that at the end of the day it matters. They will be unable to replicate the process and over time their weapons and armor from so much conflict will lose their potential and they will have to buy more. As well as maintenance that they cannot apply''. Hariric found it funny. Some would think that buying equipment from him would make the north suffer but that was untrue in many ways. Without knowing exactly how to maintain his equipment, over time, said metal would be lost and it would be impossible to use it again. While the north had workers dedicated exactly to maintaining weapons and much more
''as commanded by my lord. The only other thing worth noting has been the constant attempts by Master Gomon to reach both the kitchens and to ask questions and wait for answers from the different artisans. He has been a complete stalker my lord." Varyn had been upset by the number of reports she'd received of the man from different observers. The thing about going to the kitchens already talked about how dangerous it was, but in addition to that there was the point that he did not stop harassing workers and had tried to break the laws regarding workers who were in the work area. None of the guild bosses were happy and were actually writing reports about the behavior of the guild.
''The maester's actions were predictable. Please make sure that he gets a wake-up call before he leaves. It doesn't have to be too serious just too painful. Something that serves as a message. And for God's sake make sure it's not too complex.'' If too complex a poison was used they would immediately be on the suspect list more than anything because they were the only ones who could have a real reason for it. It wasn't the most pleasant news of all, but at the end of the day what mattered was that the maestre knew that he had brought this on himself. It was the least that could be done for the man. He could tell that Varyn already had his own plans about it.
''It will be done as my lord commands. That's all of the observation reports that have reached my desk so far. Possibly there will be more at the end of the week. Just to also remind you my lord that you have three meetings today. The first is with gerion lannister. The second is that Olena Tyrell. And the last and final one is one with both Hoster Tully and Jon Arryn my lord''. At the mention of names Varyn had to force herself not to spit. He despised the last two. She, like many other magicians, knew of their disdain for what magic is and even on occasions the rumor had been heard that they wanted to reshape the North in some way.
''Okay Varyn. If Gerion lannistter is in the vicinity let him know that I can receive him whenever he wants since I am free at the moment. Be sure to let the other two groups know that he will be waiting patiently. Fuck so much to want to spend time with my wife.'' Hariric snarled with rage. If these people bothered him in any way, they were going to be in serious trouble. Hariric had no intention of allowing them to waste his time in the slightest. They may be gentlemen but if they somehow expect me to put up with the crap of the rednecks they were sorely mistaken. He saw Varyn also have a grimace on her face. You didn't have to be a genius to see the annoyance in her
''I will let Lady Stark know that her morning will be occupied by useless slots of time that do not seem to understand that they are not as valuable as the time devoted to her lady wife, my lord.'' Varyn laughed cruelly. The very idea of being able to mess with people in such a way made her really happy. Especially regarding the southerners. However she knew better than to say that on air. At the end of the day, she was just a bastard and she had heard of gentlemen who, just by telling them something they didn't like, were more than capable of sticking out someone's tongue. She didn't make her happy but she was sure her lord could see ways to deal with this.
''please go and tell that to my lady wife. Also let her know that this afternoon I am hers as much as she is mine. If anyone tries to set up a meeting or a date or whatever tell them I'm spending quality time with my wife and just picking on me is the worst idea anyone can think of these days.'' Hariric allowed himself to make the threat clear. His family first. He could be a lord. He could be a ruler. But at the same time he didn't intend to waste every five minutes on every person he thought had a fucking excuse to ask for his stuff. He could be a mediator but at the same time he expected people to have brains when it came to acting.
''then I will let your lady wife know as it is. My lord I would also like to point out congratulations on his betrothal and may he have a long life``. At her words Varyn moved and left the room. He had to talk to gerion lannister first. That would upset the other two. The worthless harpy. The fish that conspires. The eagle that plans. From what she could tell she couldn't care less about these people. But if the threats in any way tried to screw with her lord she was sure she would jump right into it to keep them from causing trouble for her sire. They were just human beings after all.
Hariric watched as the Valyrian woman left and began taking out papers and documents. She had a lot of information on hand. In this information was what was basically the personal information gathered from the three houses. I only need a few moments to take a look at it to know more or less what to expect. This was not for nothing. With gerion lannister it could be more or less pleasant. With the others however he would pleasantly remind them that they had zero powers by any means. The queen of thorns would especially think that she could threaten him in any way. She would find herself receiving the worst lessons from her, that was more than clear from Hariric's point of view. He didn't have time to put the notes away when the Lannister lord arrived.
''Greetings and good day Lord Syark. I would like once again to congratulate you on his wedding... and also apologize. I have seen the state of the room that my niece has left and let me say right away that she will be disciplined for her immature attitude." Gerion had turned pale when she saw the state of the room. Broken glass. Destroyed furniture. Everything in bad shape. When he'd found the idiot brat he hadn't had any problem telling her in a few words that she was going to be paying for it. She had refused but he told her that if she didn't pay she would jeopardize any commercial treaty and her father would be furious about it.
''The state of Lord Gerion's room is not what concerns me. It's a piece of furniture. They are crystals. While it is certainly money that I will have to use to repair the damage, it is not what bothers me. What bothers me more than anything is your niece's attitude. Because if that's what she could expect from the Lannisters I'm afraid to make a treaty of any kind. Hariric could punish the Lannisters in many ways. More than anyone could imagine. Cersei's actions spoke of an immature child with airs of arrogance and zero respect for the other great houses. Honestly Hariric wanted to just put her in her place with a reminder and force the alliance to be beneficial but he could see that there was much more to it.
''That's a very different way of thinking. However, I must implore you not to have my family members on the same page with my niece. I have tried to let my brother know that she had an ill will but she has not paid much attention. But I'd like to drop that so we can discuss trade deals, Lord Stark.'' Frankly Gerion had warned her brother of Cersei's cruel streak and her cruelty in her. That if he didn't control her there was too much chance she would bite them. His only answer was always that a lion does not listen to sheep. But now it was a fucking dire wolf who said it and that was not a good thing
''Out of respect for him, I will agree. But I will inform you that I am obligated to take action. If I didn't do it, my standard-bearers would lose their faith in me and seeing that I am the one recently placed in this position, I am obliged to act accordingly. First we will discuss the specific issue of the alliance. Then I will decide the punishment.'' Hariric could see the acceptance of what the Lannister man was. He couldn't blame him too much if he had to be honest. Gerion Lannister was just a pawn. He was a good man sent to show the pretty face of said house. But if they waited for him to fall in love with what was the true family place, they would soon learn how wrong they were.
''thank you. I guess we have to start. As I believe Lord Stark knows, the lands of the West would be interested in his products. I know that he has prepared a caravan so that we can test a small amount of his products, but I would like to make a pre-agreement so that when the time comes, the western lands can negotiate for a larger one``. Gerion knew of her brother's loaves actually. He knew that he wanted to bring wives from the western lands into the North. He did not believe that he would work but that he would fail badly. Hence the deal. He hoped he could somehow protect them from the consequences of his brother's arrogance that would very possibly end up blowing up in the face of the entire West.
''First I would like to know exactly what the lawsuit is about. In order to make an offer, you need to know how many people are willing to buy and how many people have the money for it. I am aware that the Lannister house can afford it but I don't know if the other houses in the west can do the same.'' If there was a difference between the free cities and the kingdoms, it is that the free cities were much stronger economically. There were many more rich merchants than the Lannisters, hence there was a much larger market. But he doubted that only the Lannisters would be able to buy his products. If so then it was a sad shame on his part unfortunately. However, one more buying sun was very well worth it for what was its growing economy.
''It's understandable if I have to say so. I suppose the first thing I have to point out then Lord Stark is that there are a total of ten houses that could afford the Myr glass crystal which we both know is much more expensive than the one to the north. I have observed in this time the cost of the products of the North and I know that the lands of the West can afford enough of their trade. The truth is that only the Lannister house and the strongest allies on his side and that his sister had allowed to grow were in a position to afford what were drinks, silk, spices and glass. He hoped it would be enough if he had to be honest
''Ten houses. I guess it's good. Now let's move on to the next thing, will the Lannister house want the delivery to be made by the North or do you prefer that the Lannister fleet be the one to make the round trip? I notice that there is a difference between the two. In one, the expense of the northern fleet is not included.'' This would be good for his brother Benjen. Black Wolf Port would be in a few words in charge of selling the products of the north not only to the west but to the entire western coast as well as Dorne and free cities like Volantis. It would be good to start business right now if he had to say it in favor of his brother
''I would like to know more or less the difference between the lnister fleet and the North Western fleet. No offense but the newly forged lanister fleet is more capable of making the trips but if we can make this work somehow I'll be happy with it.'' Gerion knew that this is where the game came into play. As much as he could tell he was no less educated than the rest of his siblings in the arts of negotiation. If he saw that there might be a thing to exploit, he would take advantage of it with all his heart. However, he had serious doubts about it if he had to be honest since Lord Stark had so far controlled what the negotiation is.
''Well, the main difference is that you should pay for the use of the Northern fleet for what is a transport task. No offense but we would be crossing ironborn territory. And I don't know about you, but there's a good chance that the ironborn will try to do some shit against us at some point." The ironborn were a plague. He had the firm intention that if he was allowed he would kill them all. The culture was rotten. They were not travelers in search of navigation. No. They were the worst of the scum. They were muggers and rapists. So yes. He was exploiting that to his advantage to be able to get money from the Lannisters who, from what he could tell, the current one had common sense.
''I have to say…that in that sense I unfortunately agree. His ships would be running through dangerous waters with the ironborn there to pester and god knows what else they might do. However, I know my brother and he will refuse to pay so possibly he will leave it in the hands of the Lannister fleet. In fact he could see his brother saying that if the North was afraid to send their ships then they would gladly take advantage of it. Gerion honestly doubted that detail just from the view of the Northern force. But if he couldn't do much more he would say that House Stark would only agree to save their own fleet from danger.
''it is your decision in the end Lord Gerion and I will not be against it. Now if we go to that we will have to see the cost of what is the docking of the ships in Black Wolf Port for it. That is the only thing that would be added to the charge in terms of spending when it comes to gold since in this case it is his own fleet that is making this trip. The next thing to mention is the products to buy. If Hariric had to be honest, he preferred it that way. He wanted to keep the advanced northern ships secret for as long as possible. He preferred it this way to prevent the south from knowing that his so-called fleets were just wood compared to the northern fleets.
''I suppose it would be cheaper to buy in large quantities than in small ones. He couldn't establish exactly how much we can buy. Not until I take the products home and my brother decides. Possibly after that I sent my older brother Kevan to discuss what is the prices and the size of Lord Stark's wares''. Gerion knew that this is what his brother would do. Of course, his brother would also try to make a little attack on him at that moment, but he didn't have to know. Gerion was pleased with how things had turned out though if he had to be blunt. They had turned out much better than he was expecting seeing the animosity from the North to the South
''you're right. The larger the order, the cheaper the individual product actually is. I would also recommend that you take this with you. It is a complete price report. It not only includes an individual price but also includes quantities and little else. With that, Hariric passed him a folder. The folder contained sheets with each of the Northern products. Over time this information would grow. Hariric had already created what were the two lines of drinks: those of high class and medium and low class. It would only be in time that he would do the same for everything else in life. He was sure that the lord of the western lands as well as any other lord of the seven kingdoms would be interested in the information in question. He saw that Gerion was pleased with it.
''Thank you Lord Stark. This seems much more complete. I should better go. I will also inform my brother of Cersei's attitude. I know that if she is not punished there will be no efficient negotiations between the two kingdoms. Have a good morning Lord Stark``. Gerion looked at the paper which surprised him. He had also seen the fountain pen. He could only tell that his brother would be very interested in all of it if he had to be blunt. In addition to that, he also looked at the entire range of products. That included top-quality wood. Silk. The spices. In summary, the North had a lot to offer and he knew that his brother would not refuse to buy from them in any way.
Hariric watched Gerion leave and nodded to himself. He knew more or less the truth. Tywin Lannister would symbolically punish his daughter. However if that was what he he wanted to do then he he he would not be guilty of afterwards. However after that he started looking at new reports he had for farm expansion. The new Farm system will allow animals to survive the winter. Together with the large amount of food it would mean that the animals themselves would not die in winter and at the same time their population would be happy. Hariric was about to think about more when the door of her office opened and the queen of thorns herself entered with that attitude of hers of being on top.
''it was time. He didn't know the North had such low standards. See what to attend to that boy before anyone else even if he is the king's hand brother. That doesn't tell me much about you northerners.'' Olena Tyrell looked for flaws. She knew that most people took her attitude the wrong way. That many swallowed the amount of shit they wanted to tell him. But this man was different. When I glanced at him he didn't react. She just gave him a flat look. A look that she basically could honestly tell was that of a person just a little annoyed with her attitude.
''And I don't know what kind of upbringing you've been given in the South but I've heard that you southern women are only meant to be seen and not heard. Such an attitude is simply…how did you say it in the Dominion? So. The attitude of a Dornish whore with the fire of hers or the barbarian of the north that she is unable to understand when she is in the presence of the best of hers. She had gone in her time in oldtown of it. It was a well-known fact among the domain lords about how gratifying it was to fuck one of them to let them know what a real man was…oddly enough a northern woman wouldn't give the time to a jerk southerner and Dornish women they often taunted that domain men were more women than men
''Tch as if the women of your kingdoms are the only ones with fangs. I hope, Stark, that's not the kind of attitude you serve your guests with. You would expect a man in his position to know that he has to treat people in the ''civilized and proper'' manner. Olena liked the boy. She wasn't afraid of him. It was also true that unlike the other kingdoms the Dominion was basically the only one that didn't sell food to the Northerners. The Tullys used to have a tight grip on them by the balls. But she would admit that she was glad to know that it was over. She suited the fish house
''possibly. As for if I know my position, if I know it. I am Lord Hariric Stark. Lord of the North protector of the north Whereas you are just the mother of the southern lout ruler. The man who is a mockery to all the lords due to not only his utter incompetence but his inability to make sensible decisions. That's you''. Hariric enjoyed the look from the woman who was obviously annoyed at how she had sent her son away without further ado from her. Not that he cared too much how she felt anyway it wasn't her fault that her son had such a unique title in the seven kingdoms.
''Don't talk about my son like he's a jerk. He may be stupid and a bit of a burden but at the end of the day he is the lord of the South. He is also the lord of the second richest house in the seven kingdoms. While you northern barbarians were still wearing shitty furs at least my son could tell that he beasted himself and behaved properly.'' Olena felt some anger at the mention of her useless son and that everything she was could only be compared to her son. Honestly that bothered her a lot. Yet Lord Stark was not afraid of her. No, at all. He was just giving her a bored look like he didn't care too much what she had to say about her son. It was very annoying in his mind
''If all you've come here for is to complain in any way about your son and what he's capable of then I'll kindly ask you to go away and stop wasting my time. Unlike other bloody people I'm the lord of a house who has to help run a fucking business empire with everyone left and right waiting for my attention. If you've only come to waste my time, it seems stupid and pointless to me''. Hariric had grown tired of the game. If this woman expected him to simply accept what she was, her presence was about to discover how wrong she was. He had neither the time nor the desire to play with her
''tch talks about manners. Ok I'll go straight to the point. The Domain is possibly affected in the future by the sale of Winter Vine. I would like to know exactly what it would take to share winemaking techniques with the Dominion. I am willing to negotiate even a marriage contract with the North for the sake of such secrecy.'' The wine would be affected the most if she had to say so. Although there was more that she could use. Improved farming techniques. The best tools. The best armor She could see the Dominion do something for the benefit of it if she had to say so but first things first save the wine industry
''You have nothing to offer. The only thing you offer me is a marriage to a woman from the South who if what I have to hear is possibly an insufferable bitch who will complain every two seconds about how she doesn't like things in the North or of course complain that we are barbarians for not following their faith. You are not encouraging me to make the deal woman. Hariric could easily see the reason for this. She could get the secret by stealing it from the Martells in the future. But that would take a long time. Time when the power of Dominion wine would go for a ride. It was simply something that she could not tolerate in any way.
''Here I am offering you a marriage alliance with the second most powerful kingdom and you are rejecting it outright. I don't know what to think of you boy. I don't see that you are a capable person, isn't it hate that speaks? Isn't it the contempt for the faith of the seven that makes you contradict me, boy? If so, you will not be a good ruler. Olena Tyrell could count on one hand the number of times a person was able to treat her the way she did. But because the north had no need for its food and no need for its masters, the Dominion no longer had any power over the north. He openly cursed whatever led to the North having this troublesome heir.
''You are offering me an alliance from which I get nothing. From which you get something. From which I am harmed. And from which one of my vassals would have to put up with the crap of a spoiled Southern girl. We are the North. Where you southerners fall we stand. Where you southerners complain we stand straight. Do not compare a kingdom that has been united for more than six thousand years with yours of intrigues, woman. Hariric could see the woman try to give him a death glare and little else. She was possibly trying to burn a hole in his head. But she didn't care. However, just in case, it is better to place guards and protectors to watch over the food stores throughout the north
''tch. You want to talk about an alliance. Well, I'm willing to deduct twenty percent of the taxes taken from northern ships docking in oldtown in exchange for the Dominion getting as I've said advanced northern winemaking techniques' '. An empty proposal and she knew it. Leyton would refuse but she hoped to play on the honorable sense of the northerners. Once a pact was made they would honor it above all else. However, despite what she could feel, she could tell that she respected the northerner in front of her for the great amount of information and mastery that she had of business matters.
''That's an empty proposition. Lord lyeton is the lord of Oldtown not House Tyrell. Although it is true that the Tyrell house is associated by marriage to the lord of Oldtown, I am not such an idiot as to think that he would give in to what is the request of the great house. As you can see, your proposal is completely meaningless, are you going to stop wasting my time at once?''. Hariric smiled inwardly as he saw that the woman had been caught where she least expected it. It was pretty obvious that she wasn't happy about the loss. But she knew the southerners. She wouldn't accept it. She would seek any and all known means to gain
''Tch I'm trying to compromise with you boy. But instead you close every door on me. What would it take for the Dominion to have a solid alliance with the North?'' Olena couldn't believe it but she was the one in the bad situation right now. She was in the worst situation. She had nothing to offer. Food? They were self-sufficient. The only way would be to destroy her barns and much more but she doubted that she was a good idea. A wife? Impossible. Lord Stark was married. However, his other objective, which was to get an idea of the future Strk house, was done and did not promise anything good. This was not a puppy that he would obey if he was yelled at. This was a wild wolf that would rip your throat out if possible
''There is nothing that interests me, Lady Olena. The Dominion lacks elements. We have no need of anything it produces. It would be in their best interest to see that as something that means they should change. Being so dependent on what is a single resource has seriously weakened her kingdom if I have to say so. Not counting the fact that the Dominion had driven the mandlery out and they were important allies, there was also the point that they had nothing to offer. They could be buyers but nothing more. House Tyrell held nothing of interest to the north. So yes. Hariric wasn't going to budge unless they had something worthwhile on his mind, which at this point was non-existent.
''Tch. So I've wasted my time. Nice wedding. You must treasure the moments with your partner. You can never know how long they can last.'' Olena allowed herself a dark smile, thinking that the northerner would have no idea how to respond to the threat against his wife's life. However, El Norteño only gave him a look. It was a look that did not promise anything good. She had seen that look on a few people. All of them people who were willing to put an entire family to the sword. She reminded him too much of Tywin Lannister when someone offended him in the worst possible way. She calmed down as best she could but she was still certainly nervous.
''It would be better to be very careful. Age has a tendency to affect people. You could have an accident at any time. Something sick. The possibilities are simply endless when you have to take into account unique factors like age. Have a nice day. If you come to a solid commercial contract one day you can come here and see what comes out of it.'' With his words, Hariric dismissed the woman. He could see the slightly frightened look on her face. Obviously he wasn't expecting such a response from him but threatening his wife was a big no. If anything happened to him even a hair he would make Tywin Lannister's actions look like the child's play he was. Although before leaving I give him a list of business assets
With Tyrell gone, he knew that there were only two more people left to attend to, and Hariric was not at all satisfied with that. If he had to be frank, he wanted to meet very little with the lord of the fishes and the one with the little birds. The one with the little birds was a long-term intriguer. The one with the fish was a climber. If he was the one he would treat them the old-fashioned way. Sighing at the inconvenience that was, she braced herself. It doesn't take me more than five minutes to have company. Both men walking through the door. The Tully had a cocky look with his auburn hair. Meanwhile the Arryn had an impassive calm with his ice blue eyes and pale blond hair. Neither was a good presence
''Lord Stark allow me to congratulate you on what is obviously your wedding. However I hope he agrees with me that affairs of state have a tendency to consume people's time. I know he might have wanted time to spend with his wife but at the same time there are matters that need to be taken care of. Jon looked at what he believed to be the problem of northern affairs. Hariric Stark. Not only did it revolutionize the North to insurmountable levels, but it was having far-reaching effects. He didn't like it. The North to flourish and be more independent was not in his plans at all. But for now it would have to be tolerated
''I wanted to take a look at the reports that my father reported were breaking news more valuable. However, a visit from two gentlemen is incredibly important. Fortunately with you two my morning will be completely over and I can get on with more things to do''. The dismissal was there. They were the last. Hariric smiled because the Tully was too proud. The man had swallowed the bait without realizing what the needle was in it. It was time to pick up the fishing rod. If he had been a shark he would have had more clever other types of weaponry but he was a mere trout of all things so he wasn't really that concerned.
''so we're the last to see all morning huh boy. Tell me, why are two lords of the seven great houses last? Don't think he doesn't get close to Mr. Hand's younger brother or the old Queen of Thorns. I find it insulting that they have placed themselves above two gentlemen like us." Hoster looked at the savage in front of him. A savage who the other day had prevented the humiliation of his wife's nakedness. Frankly, he was somewhat afraid of the boy. He felt like a wolf that was looking at his prey. The boy focused his gaze on him. The gray-green eyes gave him the impression that he wasn't too surprised to see it either way and it made him feel even more insulted if he had to be honest.
''First Lord Gerion came a week before the wedding to make an appointment for the day after my wedding to discuss the principles of a trade treaty with the western lands. He took an appointment. Which means he was ahead. I honestly don't know why you didn't get ahead of Tyrell. Frankly, that meeting was a waste of time. So if I have to say it this is silly. Don't think you can demand answers from me in any way.'' At no time did he raise his voice. Arcthurus had taught him long ago that when someone yells, he doesn't do it to make himself heard, but to affirm something he doesn't feel. A calm, emotionless voice is actually much more effective.
''please peace. I guess you're right. Anyway we are here for several reasons. Lord Hoster is an important ally of mine who has hinted at certain setbacks due to the loss of the north as a client to them. We are here to discuss a serious business alliance and possible marriage contract between his brother Eddard who was my ward and lady catlyn Tully. Jon saw the maneuver for what it was. The boy had studied Hoster. He understood it. He understood it. It wasn't too hard to know that this young man knew how to treat him somehow. It wasn't an emotion he could tell gave him a sense of ease. But there was more to do than scream
''a trade association huh. Tell me Lord Tully, do you know how many attacks there have been throughout history by lords of the riverlands to the northern swamp? There have been many. Thousands. All for being of a different understanding. An alliance would mean that some would feel strong enough to attack once more. I don't know if I can afford such a thing in any way.'' And it was true. If he had to choose who was his ally he preferred the swamp clans. Not just because they were the northern rice farmers. No. It was because of HIS loyalty to him. They had been loyal for a long time and he preferred someone loyal to someone who would completely stab you in the back like this man was.
''I can't believe you'd put an alliance with House Tully before your weakest lords. I honestly don't know what you think Stark. It's obvious that a child like you doesn't know what it means to be a lord.'' Hoster scoffed. He knew exactly what the Stark was talking about. But he also knew that in the last Frey raid all the Freys and his men, that is, more than a hundred, had died with their heads returned to what is Walder. The man had been enraged but there was little he could do against Asa Stark. The message was clear. Starting a fight of some kind would mean the annihilation of house Frey. Not that anyone missed them either
''They are my vassals. The mere fact that you tell me that I have to put before a house that for the last almost two hundred years has been exploiting the lords of the North for food by the mere position of vassals that have been loyal for the last six thousand years to House Stark Trust me when I say yes. It's clear to me who I will support, Lord Tully, so be careful how you talk about my men.'' Hariric shot him a deadly look. There was nothing he despised more than when a person spoke ill of his men. They were his soldiers. The vassals of him. He trusted them because they trusted him. For him to trust a man whose family had done a fucking business with his was a big no.
''Please let's calm down. I understand your annoyance Lord Stark. I really do. That is why we would like to put it in a simple way. We are aware that he intends to open up to trade from the south. It would be much easier for him to do it with the Tullys if there is an alliance involved than if they are all getting along badly, don't you think Lord Stark?''. The issue on Jon's mind is that Hoster had let it be known how badly he thought of House Stark which did not paint it in the best of ways. Hell if anything just made things more difficult for them in this whole thing anyway.
''I am perfectly calm Lord Arryn. What I have is the annoyance of knowing that there is a lord who seems to have gone to his head that he is. However for the sake of this discussion let's say that this alliance is expected more than anything. If we are expected to buy food again forget it. House Stark is self-sufficient." It was possibly one of the points that he could see happening from all things. Hariric could frankly say that the possibility of the lawsuit existed. Buying groceries could be a healthy source of income for the Tully house actually but he didn't need it. An alliance born of either a need or a common interest. But at this point there was neither one nor the other
''Tch idiot brat. In any case, what he was proposing more than anything is that the Tully house was willing to lower the price of passage through our lands for the caravans from the north. In exchange, a wedding with my daughter between her and Eddard Stark. While it kills me for my daughter to marry a second child she is still the child of one of the seven great houses. Hoster snarled in anger at what was his defeat. However, he knew that this was only a setback. In time they could find a way to kill him and eddard would become a high lord which would mean that through his daughter and his descendants the North would be controlled in some way. all win
''Even if I decided to do so, serious conditions would have to be met, Lord Tully. To begin with, all the laws of the north would be fulfilled. ALL. There would be no escape. The laws are there to be enforced and I won't take kindly to any bullshit that involves my brother's descendants being dragged south. They will be northerners.'' The school that had been founded in isengard was for a reason. On the one hand, a first-class education. Second was the factor of gathering all the sons and daughters of the north in one place to create alliances between them. It was the best. If one of the three Starks were seen to be non-compliant it would be bad because all the other houses would not actually look the same.
''The foster system has clearly proven efficient, Lord Stark. You honestly aren't saying that Eddard's children couldn't be taken in by some southern lords. In the south, honor is highly prized. Our honor is what characterizes us.'' If Eddard's sons didn't spend time in the south they wouldn't feel like changing things about the north when the time came. That was not in his plans in the slightest. Hariric Stark was not affected by his words in fact he just raised his eyebrows as if he found no meaning in his own words which was a great insult in the Arryn's mind
''That method is inefficient at best. How do you expect your son to follow the path that your family or kingdom excels at when he is educated elsewhere without what is known as contact with the kingdom where you were born? What's more, people would see you as an intruder. bred out. That's not what I want. They are Northerners more than anything and Lord Arryn will stay that way. Also, I never said that they would not breed. But the northern method is different from the southern method.'' In a certain sense the southern method was far inferior. The southerners with their bloody game had fractured their kingdoms. He had no intention of allowing such a thing. Even if you don't like him, being able to work with another in a good way is the best.
''How dare you? Those children will be raised in the south and there is nothing else. Accept or else we leave. There will be no alliance. There will be nothing. If your caravans set foot in the rivers then they will not be welcomed.'' Hoster growled that wasn't what it was supposed to be. If Hoster had had more control of himself he would have questioned why he was exploding so much. Too bad he didn't realize hariric's magic was a simple compulsion spell. Such a simple thing. This not only made Hoster Tully look bad but also made him look like he had less than pleasant intentions for the north.
''Then there is no alliance. I have no interest in giving in to anyone's demands, Lord Hoster. If that's all you had in mind and wanted to discuss frankly, you can go. I've only had one good meeting this morning and that was with Gerion lnnister's. I don't like to be wasted my time in any way gentlemen.'' Hariric smiled. It was so funny when people fell for the simplest traps. It was also a joy for him to be able to get rid of them if he had to be blunt. With them out of his face, he was one hundred percent sure that he could get to work on many other things than wasting his time like this.
''Haster calm down. We're at a meeting of lords, you can't just explode like that. Lord Stark, I apologize for Hoster's attitude, but you know the Tully family creed: Family, Duty and Honor. They are very careful with his family and well, the hoster does not want to be separated from his eldest daughter or from the children of his family. I hope it doesn't bother you too much.'' Jon completely cursed Hoster. He had completely let it be seen what his intention was. The Tully was making a fool of them both and the fucking Stark was thoroughly enjoying it from what he could tell. The man found it satisfying to see a southerner act less than a jerk. He cursed him for making his existence too complicated.
''If it is then I should live by my family motto: winter is coming. The question you should ask yourself is for you or for me? I'm not a man to let these things blow up in his face. Go away Lord Arryn and if you ever want to discuss this I hope it's in a more controlled environment.'' With his final words, it was known that it was a complete dismissal. He had no intention of wasting any more time with the two gentlemen. The two lords got up and left without further ado. But hariric was sure that this was far from over. Anyway, if Eddard eventually married Catlyn, it would be on his rules, not theirs.
Outside both lords were arguing. Jon attacking Hoster for getting carried away. Hoster speaking softly in a bad way about House Stark. None of them knew but his words and partly his ambitions had been heard by Varyn who frowned would have to report it to her lord. These men were planning to kill her lord so she would plan how to do them a lot of harm. Some would say that she was brutal, but she and the others gifted with her were indebted to Lord Stark for taking them in and giving them a chance to learn magic. So they were very protective. No one knew, but it was on that day that the foundations for the destruction of the power of the Tully and Arryn houses were laid for a suffice, neither more nor less.
-Spa-
Ashara came to the spas quite a bit with a goofy smile. These were the spas of the Lord of Winterfell. Hariric had put several spas so that more than one person could have the pleasure of enjoying them. The reason that there were some for the gentleman was not classism of any kind. But for the lord's protection. After all, if there was one thing that Hariric knew how to do, it was to ensure protection. He could have done that with all the spas but he would feel it was strange that he went to any spa and they were so in favor of what was the law of the north. Not that it mattered. She found it better. He was of course the smallest of the five spas but that meant nothing.
This spa had three pools unlike the others. As well as a couple of saunas and also two massage rooms. Say what you want about her husband but she knew how to plan. In addition to being an excellent source of income, she also knew that it was more than anything an action designed to care for her people and give them privileges that made them feel better with the ruling house. You could say many things about her husband but she had to be the one to say that she knew how to charm people. It didn't matter what anyone thought about it. But she also had to admit that all this would not be possible without magic, which her husband took advantage of in a monstrous way.
Not that she was complaining. She actually felt very comfortable with it. He found what it was to do this was fine. Magic is a gift. You are born with it. They bless you with it. And you must use it. He had noticed that there were many magical children. Not all of them were of northern origin with their dark hair and pale complexions. There were many children of what she had to say Valyrian ancestry as well as some children she was sure were Rhoynar. She honestly found it fine. She knew the maesters' order would have killed them given the chance so here was a chance to grow. It didn't help that she herself had to say that the system used by her husband was really good for the prosperity of the kingdom.
All thanks to magic. He wouldn't be surprised if he's found out and called the Wizard Wolf. That would be funny. Although there was a good chance that he once found out about his fellow animals the maesters would do three things. The first is that along with faith they denounce him as a magician trying to turn people against him. No proof. Just saying what they thought. Possibly with the intention of making him look bad. She would laugh. Knowing her husband, only she would raise an eyebrow at it and respond with a simple show or fuck you morons. He was that special. Not that he feared what his power was. In fact he would possibly love to fuck their minds very much
Another thing is that they would ask or rather demand their animal companions. A phoenix was a very magical animal. The horned snake that can change its size more of the same. And what her husband had was a mixture of Direwolf with Helldog. She wouldn't be surprised if she, too, would be asked to somehow put a hand on top of hers in hers. Ashara shuddered. Her husband was black. When something was his it was his nothing and no one could get in the way of it and anyone who did would walk right into death. The maesters didn't have the faintest idea what it meant to piss off their lord husband and when they learned it it would be really bad for them.
The last thing they would possibly do is hire someone to take them away. She winced at it. She felt that it was an incredibly idiotic action on the part of the maesters but the order was too used to getting its way. She didn't think it was any good for them to try that but she didn't care much if she had to be blunt. If the order of maesters thought she could move with such ease, it was sheer arrogance on the one hand. On the other hand, they believed they had the law on her side. She didn't care what they thought but if they dared to do something like this it is possible that they would do more things that could be bad for the entire order.
He also thought about his gift. In addition to a crazy night of sex, she had received two gifts. The first was a shadow kitty. It was so small. Hariric explained to him that he found him more dead than anything and saved him. After that he thought it would be good for her to have it. She never told him where she found it but from the look on her face she knew one thing and that was that she must have been courtesy of some animal dealer. She really was afraid of what that could mean but she didn't care. What she did care about was that her husband had saved it and had given it to her. She could practically feel the poor animal join her. How could he not treasure such a gift? Her husband really knew how to choose
The second gift was a spear. The spear he had was made of metal as black as night with red lines resembling the growth of a vine in Celtic patterns. It was beautiful. However when she took one look at the gun he knew it wasn't normal. Her husband, as nice as he was, had melted two fucking concepts into the gun when he made it for her. The first was the open concept which meant that any wound could never be closed and would act like a poison. The next concept is breaking. This meant that she could practically throw the weapon and as long as she had strength she would go through anything that got in her way. There was no defense. And the weapon was made of the black heart of her house and Valyrian steel. It was an unprecedented weapon
So yes. It had been a great wedding where she had begun to join the people who were there. On top of that she had had two wonderful gifts and several more from various lords. She didn't care. Her day was good. Unfortunately with her husband being a man now he had many things to do. Fortunately, she had built a well-developed system in order to ease her workload. Excellent news if she had to say so herself. But if she also had to be honest, it made her a little sad to know that her husband had a lot of work, which is why she had made it clear that she would do the part of the bank herself despite her complaints.
With a sigh she began to put on what were her clothes to maintain her modesty and she bathed in the hot water. Another point is that hariric through Isengard was selling relaxing oils to everyone and his mother. They were great at making a person feel more comfortable especially in water like this. He could feel the scent of the oil in the water making him relax. He was pretty good and I enjoy. It was also around this time that Elia arrived accompanied by Ellaria. The two looked entertained at her appearance and wasted no time in bathing. The moans that she received as a result were something that she told him how much they enjoyed it.
''You know, Ashara, I think you are the luckiest woman in the seven kingdoms. Most of us are lucky if we marry a half-decent man. You go and hit the jackpot. This makes me want to kill your father even more since I almost screwed up what your marriage was.'' Elia couldn't help but say that if this is what her friend had for getting married then honestly she would have killed for the same but she could also honestly say that she knew that it could only work if there were reasons for it. Only the insult of that idiot man could have made Rickard Stark refuse to have anything to do with what is the lords of Dorne.
''My father is going to make a gigantic jerk once word gets out that I almost screwed up big time trying to ruin what is basically a wedding that is so beneficial to Dorne. I frankly find the thought of that happening to him a pretty good thing.'' Ashara added with a touch of vengeance. She would only recognize one man as her father and that is Ted Tonks. The good brother of him only got along with Allyria. If someone else tried to tell her that how she felt with her brothers, she was clear that it would not be a pleasant answer for people, but she was not her problem in that regard.
''more like an idiot than an incompetent. Oby is in seventh heaven with that spear that I gave you. He says something of a true work of art and that it must be a divine gift. He says that just shaping Valyrian steel costs thousands of dragons. He likes the spear a lot, by any chance wouldn't you be able to convince your husband to make another one, wouldn't you?''. Ellaria laughed in amusement. Hers and hers was a boy at heart man if she had to say so. But she liked it. However when it was time for seriousness he was. Only Ashara's spear was simply too unique a weapon. Now she could tell that her man wanted to know much more as well as order something similar for him.
''Possibly actually one day he will. Hariric took a liking to Oberyn. Something about how despite being like a snake there is a sincerity to who he is and therefore you can come to respect him for who he is. My husband holds Oberyn in very high regard and says that if he is able to calm down that will be great. Hariric's opinion of each family member of him was unique. Allyria said that she was a good girl. Oberyn who was a snake. But when it was time for Doran, he said that he preferred to keep an eye on him than with any other lord of the south, including Tywin Lannister himself, which said a lot about his opinion of the man in question.
''hahaha it's good. He'll get rid of it. The truth is that I like how the North has evolved. However, I can also see the reason for the annoyance in your lord husband. For what reason should he of all things say how he has achieved all his advances to the people of the south? They haven't exactly been very kind to the North.'' Ella made a face. The south had spat, beaten and much more to the Stark house. She was not surprised that now that they had the upper hand they would not abandon her in any way. Even if they could somehow peer pressure she seriously doubted he would succeed in any way against the man in question.
''Hariric says the south has been stagnant for too long. If the maesters hadn't been looking at their rear collectives a long time ago they would have been better off than they are at the moment. At least that's what he tells me and considering that he has such a unique way of thinking I have to wholeheartedly agree with him. She had to admit that if the so-called masters were the most advanced people and were not capable of doing the same as her husband, then they deserved what was happening to them. Complacency is what led to what was stagnation anyway. Besides, she didn't like teachers. She reminded him too much of a rat
''And instead of trying to evolve themselves they've been trying to put pressure on your husband to give up what he possibly knows. I don't see or understand how the masters could think that they would get away with it but seeing the king's madness I honestly prefer not to bet on it''. Ellaria had a great deal of distrust of the maesters. When people take the knowledge and are the gatekeepers it makes them a force to be reckoned with. Added to that was also the point that the maesters were too proud. And they could tell of getting the king into this shit which wouldn't end well for them either way. It was a real disaster waiting to happen
''Yeah. That's more or less how I feel. I'm not going to say anything more about it but I agree with my husband that teachers should get a good kick in the ass. If my husband who is not a scholar has been able to discover so many things for himself, what does that say about an order that is financed by several lords? It makes them look like fools and idiots.'' Which amused him. She had long ago confirmed to Melania her distrust of her masters. It didn't take a genius to see that each maester who was stationed had a reason for it and a little more. It was more of a nuisance than anything but it was easy to discover that they were from families that either had ties to the Domain or something else.
''You won't see any good coming from me. If the maesters are so fucking idiotic as to draw upon themselves what is the problem is not my problem. My problem is that mother still insists on me marrying the prince something that I am not yet very comfortable with.'' Despite his intelligence and other traits about him, Elia wanted nothing to do with the game. Especially since he was practically entering hostile territory where he wasn't in control of anything. It's like entering a guard of what is a death trap and hoping to get out of there alive if more. He was so stupid that he didn't make sense
''I pity you. Hariric wants nothing to do with the capital. In his own words he had enough with northern business affairs. Head north. And keep the North safe from any potential threat both internal and external. Add in the bloody game of politics where everyone is trying to stab each other in the back, I think I have to say even myself would be against it.'' The North as a whole was not ready for it. Most of the current lords lacked subtlety and skill for that field. That was what the academy had been built for as well. For no lord to be taken with his pants down which was an incredibly important thing to do.
''don't pity me. get me out of there The mother and Doran seem obsessed. They almost seem to think it's like me being queen would mean something. They are forgetting that in the south except Dorne women are only seen as breeding machines and to look good in the man's hand. Ugh the amount of crap I have to take for that.'' Elia would honestly prefer not to have anything to do with southern politics. She agreed with it. She was more interested in improving Dorne. The North had shown to be capable of evolving on its own. Why couldn't they do the same the hell? Why not focus on improving itself as a kingdom? Instead they had their sights set on what was outside
''Harry often says that the best course of action is always to look inside. Find where you need support. Where do you need help? Where you need to do a few tweaks here and there. So that will be what you will have to touch. It's the most important thing to do really. As you can see there's a reason he doesn't like you southerners.'' Except for Tywin Lannister and even then she doubted that she was getting the full potential of her hariric lands she believed that the other lands were focused on a single important point for her economy. She and he had seen the long-term effects of it. The effect she would have on people and the damage she could do without a doubt. They were nothing more than people making her opinion clear about it
''Your man is very smart. Tell me, Ashara, do you think you could convince him that the girls come to study in this city of your husband's knowledge? Little Obara has character and Nymeria is also seen to grow up to look a lot like her father. A place where they're able to be put under a bit of pressure wouldn't be a bad idea actually.'' The two daughters outside of what their relationship was, although as good as such, were three and two-year-old girls who even as infants showed a resemblance to their father. It goes without saying that Oberyn was brilliant, only she lacked what was the reason to shine more than anyone
''I can speak it. And in reality it is very possible that she will agree with it. My husband…treasures education. In his words, the difference between animals and human beings is not only the rules of behavior but also our ability to learn. Oberyn's girls if they are anything like her father are possibly more than capable of learning than anyone else in this family if I have to be honest. Ashara had met the two girls, and her opinion of both was that they were two girls who would one day grow up to be great Dornish women. To her delight, Ellaria actually took it well. Not that she could blame her. Ellaria loved them like her own daughters in any case.
''You have an amazing husband. The fact that he looks at me and has no opinion is pretty cool. Actually, what do you know about the kamasutra? It was a strange book that Oby told me he found in the library. Something of a guide to living life well and that he is the author actually… is he as good as the book makes him out to be?''. Ellaria couldn't help but laugh. It was quite funny. According to Oberyn Hariric Stark had books on many things. He had not been able to take a look but the book caught his attention. According to him it was the book of sex. Decidedly that caught the attention of both her and her lover. Ashara's resigned look amused the sand woman but she was still satisfied.
''Yeah. It's fucking good. In addition to the fucking size you have to count the resistance. And that it has more tricks than anyone can imagine. I have heard that this book will soon be available to many people. If you really want I can get you a copy of the book if you're that interested.'' When he found out that Hariric brought that book in question, it caught his attention. According to him it was just a book. When I look at him upon discovering the book I quote that the book was a funny joke in his mind just to think about the face of every possible person who thought of it. He was very amused that possibly the sex industry was going to see major changes. In fact, the prostitutes of the north under the command of the queen of the whores of the North had made her girls and boys learn the book well.
''That book Ashara…what exactly is it about please? Because the way Ellaria is putting it and the way you're acting I can almost imagine this is a book best kept away from younger minds. Elia knew Ellaria. Like her brother, Oberyn, Ellaria had a sincere love for what sex was. They were both that. And honestly knowing that there was a book that basically treated sex as literature worth learning she didn't know what to think about it. Though she wouldn't deny that if that book was as good as she said she was, Ellaria she could see every noble in Dorne looking to get a copy of said book actually.
''Well my husband is a bit like he wanted to know more or less how pleasurable sex can be. So before he married me he apparently met several women who didn't seem afraid of discovering multiple positions with him and seeing which one is more pleasurable than another. Needless to say, that's why the book in question is good. He still felt some shame about it but Hariric hadn't cared too much. In his own word the book was neither more nor less than something he thought would be fun to introduce into Westeros. The truth is, he could see the fun shining into the mind of every fucking lord and person in the kingdom. That man of hers could be so cruel
''from what Oby told me and these are his exact words just so you know the book is basically a 100 percent guarantee of many ways to end up fucking your partner and make them consumed by pleasure. Oby wants the book. The only reason why he hasn't taken it is because in his own words he was the only one in the library and he would be the main culprit.'' The straight face with which Ellaria said things made it clear how she felt about it. To begin with, said book was quite funny if she had to be honest and that she would have to study it further.
''I will talk with him. The truth is that according to him, most of the poses were things that occurred to him just like that. I just hope the summer islanders don't find out that he has said book or anything like that. I'm 100 percent sure they would worship him as some kind of god.'' Ashara couldn't avoid what it was like to have fun just in front of her husband's gaze, what it would be like to have to endure what was the devotion of the faithful for writing the damned book. At least only merchants and upper-class people as well as the military could buy the book once it was released. If not, she might consider that the book would sell like foam.
''I'm surprised he's not ashamed of it. From what I understand, northerners are very uptight. At least that's the opinion I've heard many people describe their contact with every northerner they've met. It's a refreshing change if I have to say so. Elia had to admit that the idea of meeting the northerners hadn't appealed to her, thinking for a while that they were a rather uptight and serious bunch but now she realized that they weren't so much. Although it could be due more than anything to the fact that unlike before the North could now afford to be more relaxed about it.
''Harry explained to me that the Norteños have to be strong. Although they live on good land with serious difficulties. On top of that he has to endure and endure. They are the toughest and most resistant people. Where we see the game as something worthy they just think it's a waste of time. Harry is the most laid-back of all, believing that life is meant to be enjoyed but still to have an iron grip on it.'' Ashara rightly guessed that Harry had actually wanted his masters to be much more capable and competent to relax a little at least in regards to life. She couldn't blame him for it. Life wasn't just a vale of tears
''That's actually something I can toast to. Your husband is a man who wants the best for his people. Life is much more than just hoping to survive tomorrow. It's pretty obvious. I have to say that I think it's a bad thing that the rest of the kingdoms haven't done a little bit of help. It makes me feel bad if I have to be blunt.'' Ellaria couldn't help but make the comment. Truth be told it was a bit embarrassing not to have realized it. Of screwing up so big if she had to be blunt. House Stark had actually been in need of help and it was only when one of its members stood up that anything could be done. he was worthy of respect
''you won't see any northerner saying they needed help of any kind. That is something that will always be with them. They are fucking proud. But you will never hear of a group that is as hard-working as they are. It's that work ethic that my husband says gives them a huge advantage over the other kingdoms and I have to agree with him on that.'' Her husband had made one important thing clear to her. He will never see the northerners with sorrow. They neither wanted nor needed it. Just respect you. Just respect them for lasting. For persevering. For being a mountain you could bring hell down on them didn't give a shit
''I have to agree with you Ashara. The truth is that what Southerners see as stupid Northerners see as important. The North is his Home. The mere mention that they would have to leave the north, no wonder they see the people of the south in reality.'' It's like someone told the Dornishmen that Dorne was too hot and they should leave. Why? Just because someone else said so? Whole shit. For that alone she could respect the northerners even more. She wouldn't like in any way what it's like to get on the bad side. Before they could gather forty thousand strong soldiers. What will it be now? And now they would also be better equipped. May the gods have mercy on them
''Yeah. That's what it is ma'am. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have a good massage. As incredibly relaxed as I am, I would like to have a good time to unload my muscles. I must say that I feel very comfortable with the way things are``. With her words spoken of her, Ashara got up from the pool and began to leave, putting on a towel so she could leave. She could hear them thanking her for giving her a good conversation and she went straight to the place. I never expect to meet Catlyn Tully of all people. Especially with people outside of Dorne being so uptight about showing her body. It was pretty funny if she had to say so. But instead of being on guard, he approached just as she also received permission to lie down on the masseur's table.
''Greetings Lady Stark. Congratulations on the wedding. I also have to say that it was nice to see a man who wouldn't let his wife be looked at as a piece of meat for a change. Catlyn had come more than anything because she had not stopped hearing on more than one occasion about how this place or rather her brother's places were so claimed. Spas. Honestly, the very idea of being naked and being massaged made her nervous until she realized that this was at best something that Lord Stark himself promoted and therefore if someone got out of control he would pay with money. you grow for it
''thank you. It's good to know that I have a husband who cares just enough for me, however I have to admit that it's incredibly strange to see you here, Lady Tully. It's just out is there anything I should know?``. Ashara knew that this looked strange.
Little did he know how right he was in his words
