Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 179: Goliath (3)

"What do you want to do about this village?" Then after a pause, I added what I really wanted to ask, "Do you really think that you'll be able to take those bones?"

Faust didn't say anything as he continued using the skeletal bird to watch over the village.

After a while, he finally said, "That depends on how we do this."

"What do you mean by that?" I couldn't help looking at Faust with a confused look when I heard this, but he didn't say anything in response.

He just continued looking at the village of goliaths that was in front of us, as if he was trying to figure something out.

Then there was another smile that appeared on Faust's face that sent a chill down my spine.

"Please stop smiling." I couldn't help saying.

This time, he narrowed his eyes…or rather his eye flames to look at me for a bit before saying with a sigh, "Please act seriously and stop playing around. I'll tell you my plan on how to subdue this village."

Then he couldn't help revealing another smile as he said, "If this works well, you might even be able to get a few goliath subordinates of your own."

"Are we the bad guys?" I couldn't help wondering when I saw that smile on his face.

"Where did these things come from?"

"No, it doesn't matter where these things came from…Those are clearly the skeletons of our ancestors. Someone dares to desecrate the sacred remains of our ancestors like this…"

"Who would dare to do such a heinous thing?"

The goliaths were shocked to find that there were these skeletal creatures that were marching on them.

In their lives, they had never seen such a thing before.

They couldn't even begin to imagine what it was that allowed such a foul thing to exist in this world.

But there was nothing that they could do.

"Those are the remains of our ancestors, what can we do to them?" That was the only thing that was on the minds of these goliaths when they saw all of these skeletons.

However, they could also tell that these skeletons were marching on their home.

If they didn't do something to stop them, then there was nothing that they could do to protect their homes and the people that they loved.

"Ancestors, please stop. We don't know how we've offended you, but please give us a chance to repent. We promise that we'll do our utmost to make up for our offense."

There were some people that started to bargain with these skeletons, but the skeletons didn't seem to hear them at all as they continued marching on the village. It was as if there was only one thing on the minds of the skeletons.

As they were griping over what to do about the remains of their ancestors, the skeletons were marching closer and closer towards them…until they were right in front of the village.

This was a village that had only ever known peace, so there had never been a need for them to build a wall or any form of fortification around their village.

These skeletons were marching right into their village without anything stopping them.

Even then, the goliaths still didn't do anything to stop them…

"Ah!"

There was a scream that rang out through the air.

It was the scream of one of the young female goliaths that had been caught by the skeletons marching on them.

Seeing this, they realized that they really had no choice.

But it was already too late for them to do anything as the skeleton was already brandishing a club that it was swinging down at the goliath girl. Even if they wanted to help her, there was nothing that they could do about it.

"Get down and cover yourself!"

As soon as this voice rang out, the goliath girl immediately put her hand on her head and curled herself up to protect herself.

"Shatter!"

When she opened her eyes again after hearing this sound, she found that there was someone standing over her. Only this was a person that she had never seen before, so she didn't know who her saviour was.

At the same time, it was clear that this person wasn't a goliath since he was too small to be one.

"Are you alright?"

The goliath girl slowly gave a nod to show that she was alright.

But before she could say anything else, that person had already turned around and was charging at the other skeletons.

Now that she wasn't in danger, she saw exactly how she had been saved.

"Smash!"

With a single swing of his arm, the skeleton shattered to pieces and fell to the ground.

When she looked down, she found that there were pieces of the skeleton that had attacked her that were scattered all over the floor.

"Stop…Stop that!"

It took a while for the goliaths to come back to their senses, but they immediately shouted at this person to stop. However, that person didn't stop as they had requested and continued to shatter the skeletons.

"What are you doing to the sacred remains of our ancestors!"

At this, there were some goliaths that pulled out their weapons.

Even though they were being attacked by these skeletons, it seemed like they were trying to protect them since they were the skeletons of their ancestors.

That person kept smashing them even though he was being threatened, but he added, "The remains of your ancestors are being controlled by an evil power, they are being forced to attack you, their descendants. Do they not deserve to be liberated and set free from this torture?"

The goliaths all froze when they heard this.

It didn't seem like they fully believed what this person said, but it was clear that they were swayed since they knew that it wasn't natural for the skeletons of their ancestors to move on their own like this.

There had to be something controlling them…
