Chapter 178: Goliath (2)
"What is this place?" I couldn't help asking in a stunned voice.
"I had the same reaction when I found this place, but I have no idea what it is either." Faust said with a sigh.
I looked at him with a strange look before asking, "Do you remember anything like this from the game?"
Faust just replied with a single shake of the head.
Since we were from a different world, one that knew about everything that was in this world that was based on a game, we should have known about this place.
But no matter how I searched our memories, I couldn't find a single thing about this place.
It was as if this place just didn't exist in the game…
Only that shouldn't be since this was a place that existed right in front of us.
"Was this some kind of hidden dungeon that no one ever discovered? Or was it a hidden area that the devs used and never released to the public?"
"It doesn't matter, what matters now is getting these bones."
"You say that, but I already know that your goal was to make me come here with you so we can explore this place." I said with a tone that was implying something, but Faust didn't respond this time.
After looking around, I said, "Since we're already here, there's no reason why we can't explore this place."
Faust just revealed another smile as if he had already been expecting me to say this.
There was a part of me that wasn't happy that he was just playing me like this, but still I couldn't hold myself back.
This place was an underground world, it was hard for me not to be excited about this.
It was like finding a hidden secret in a game.
Though after taking a moment to think about it, I calmed down.
There was a reason why there were goliath skeletons that were down here in the first place, so there was something that was hiding down here.
Since it was able to take down the goliaths, then it was certainly powerful.
"Follow me." While I was thinking about this, Faust suddenly said this as he started moving forward. By the time that I came back to my senses, I found that he had already moved quite a distance away.
So all I could do was follow behind him.
"Do you even know where you're going?" I couldn't help asking while following him.
"I can sense the energy of the living as a lich, so I can tell that there's a group of some kind of living being in that direction." Faust said in a casual voice.
But the moment that he said this, I couldn't help deeply knitting my brows.
"Do you really think that it's a good idea to be heading right for this group of living beings? There's no telling what they are or if they're dangerous or not."
"What's the point in wasting time thinking about this? We can hide ourselves if it does become dangerous, so there's no point in hesitating."
Faust didn't even stop for a single second as he said this.
I couldn't help shaking my head with a smile when I saw the confidence that he moved with, but it didn't seem like it was a bad thing for him to have this kind of confidence.
In fact, this kind of confidence was usually a good thing.
However, I couldn't help feeling that there was something off about all of this.
Even if Faust was confident, it felt that there was something that was strangely off…
"It's not like I can do anything if he's so determined. That's really the problem with avatars that have their own personalities, it's hard stopping one of us when we have an idea like this…"
After following Faust for a bit, we suddenly stopped when we heard a sound coming from the distance.
This sound wasn't that loud, but we could hear it with our sharpened senses.
"Is it coming from where you're sensing the group of living beings?" I asked Faust while we listened closely to see what this sound was.
Faust just gave a simple nod before raising his hand as if he was about to do something.
I wanted to stop him until I saw that it wasn't what I thought it was.
It wasn't actually some kind of attack, it was a skeletal bird that had been condensed in his hand.
After creating this skeletal bird, Faust just simply tossed it into the air and then closed his eyes.
I didn't know what he was doing at first until he said, "Share my eyesight."
I was even more confused when I heard this, but I did what he told me to do.
When I did, I found that his sight was strange.
What he was seeing wasn't what he normally saw, but rather what he was seeing was what the skeletal bird was seeing.
I was surprised to find that he could link his senses with the skeletal bird like this, but now wasn't the time to be impressed by this.
Instead, it was time to see what the skeletal bird was seeing.
"Is that a village?" I couldn't help asking when we saw what was in front of us.
Faust didn't say anything, he just had the skeletal bird come down closer to the village that was there.
When it did, we could see that this wasn't just a normal village.
It was a village that was filled with goliaths.
Slowly, I couldn't help saying, "I think that solves the mystery of how all those goliath skeletons appeared."
Faust gave a slow nod of agreement.
The goliath skeletons that were in that 'nest' weren't actually skeletons that came from goliaths that had been hunted by something. Rather, the skeletons that were there were all there because that place was a burial spot for this goliath village.
That was why there were all those bones there.
