Chapter 177: Goliath (1)
"I need you to come with me for something."
I couldn't help revealing a bitter smile when I heard what Faust said.
He had suddenly called me out early in the morning and then said this without even explaining why he had called me out like this.
Of course I wouldn't agree to this without knowing what he wanted.
So I said, "I mean, you have to explain what you mean by this first. If you want me to come with you, I need to know at least what you want to do."
"You can find out whenever you want." Faust said in response.
However, I didn't budge as I waited for him to explain.
So in the end, Faust said, "I've discovered something interesting lately and I need your help in excavating it."
"Interesting?" I couldn't help asking with one brow raised.
Faust nodded before walking over to one of the tables on the side.
When I followed him over, I was surprised by the giant bone that was there.
But I also recognized what this bone was the moment that I saw it.
"A goliath bone? Where did you find something like this?"
For once, there was a smile that appeared on Faust's face when he heard this. Though the moment that I saw this smile, I couldn't help feeling a chill run down my spine.
A smile on his skeletal face really was a terrifying thing to behold.
If a child were to see this, there was no doubt that they would have nightmares for months.
But Faust didn't care how I felt as he said, "I've been sending my minions down into the ground to dig for bones since this wilderness is filled with the bones of many different things. This was one of the things that they stumbled upon when they were digging."
"Then what do you need me for? If you could get this bone back by yourself, then you should be able to get the entire skeleton as well."
Faust said with the same smile, "If there's a goliath skeleton, then there should be something there that's strong enough to take down a goliath. So that's why it's better to be safe than sorry."
I slowly nodded in agreement since what he said made sense, but…
"I'll give you one to guard your town with."
Once he made that offer, there was no reason for me to hesitate.
Especially since he was implying that there was more than a single goliath skeleton in this place.
"Just how many did you find?"
"At least five according to the different bones that I've found." But then it looked like he knitted his brows even though there were no brows for him to knit as he added, "The problem is that I'm not certain that they'll be complete skeletons since there were bone shards found nearby."
"How big of a problem is it?" I couldn't help asking.
Faust said with a shrug, "I can always replace the missing bones with bones from other creatures, but it will make the skeleton that I create a bit weaker since it'll lack the synchronicity that comes with having a complete skeleton."
"How much weaker?" I still asked.
"Still much stronger than your average skeleton since it's a goliath skeleton, so you don't have to worry about that."
I gave a nod after hearing this before asking, "When do we set out."
With a wave of his hand, Faust suddenly summoned two skeletal horses before saying, "We leave now. Get on."
I couldn't help shaking my head seeing this, but I still got on the horse that he summoned for me.
With this, the two of us headed out across the barren land without telling anyone where we were going.
At least I had told the others not to wait up for me since I had a feeling that Faust had been up to something.
It didn't take us long to arrive at the place where he said the goliath skeleton was buried.
But I couldn't help feeling that this place was strange since it didn't seem like there was anything here. It certainly didn't feel like there was something that would be able to take down a goliath here.
"Are you sure that this is the right place?" I couldn't help asking in the end.
Faust just gave a nod before summoning out his minions to start digging.
Since he was already digging into the ground, there was nothing that I could do to stop him.
All I could do was keep watch and see what would appear.
But there was nothing that appeared in the end.
In fact, it turned out that he hadn't told me everything…
"Now, let's go in." Faust said after the undead had finished digging the hole.
I looked down at it with one brow raised before asking, "Where does this lead?"
However, Faust didn't say anything as he directly jumped into the hole.
I couldn't help shaking my head with a sigh when I saw him like this, but I jumped into the hole as well. After all, we were the same person, so it wasn't as if he would actually do anything to harm me.
When we landed, he waved his hand and released a few fireballs to light up the area around us.
With this light, I could see that we were in some kind of nest.
With how many bones were scattered around here, it really seemed like whatever had made its nest in this place wasn't weak.
I couldn't help raising my fists as if I was prepared for a fight when I saw this, but Faust just said, "It's not here, it's further in."
I looked at him with a confused look, but I still followed him as he headed off in a certain direction.
Once we walked for a bit, I saw that there was light that was coming from in front of us.
It seemed like we were stepping out into a place that was lit up.
But it certainly wasn't what I had expected to see.
