Chapter 176: Secret conversation between the three
"God, they really know how to talk, don't they?"
"Tell me about it. I've heard them blabber on for days during the meetings."
"You think you have it bad, you should try listening to that elder when he's lecturing you."
While they were talking, the three of us had our own secret conversation that was bashing them.
It was all because the two of them who were talking for everyone took too long to discuss this matter.
They were talking about different things that needed to be discussed for the humans and elves to work together against the demons.
But during all of this…
"So what did Val Zahar have to say about this?"
"He has no idea."
"He tried looking into it, but it's clear that one of the strongest demon tribes was behind this as he wasn't able to find any information."
"As expected, but still…"
"Well, it's not like there's anything we can do since we can't use things that are considered taboo. If we do something like that, we'll be the ones that will be in trouble."
"Sir hero, what do you think about these elven friends of ours?"
When King Abel said this, Gran Jurad just simply said, "We don't know enough about each other yet, but it seems like we can get along."
Elder Arun gave a nod before saying, "That's right, it seems like the hero is quite the upstanding person."
Then after that, they continued talking about what they had been talking about the entire time.
It didn't seem like they were interested in letting the hero and the elves talk alone.
Or at least King Abel had no intention of doing that just yet until these terms were set.
Elder Arun just seemed to be on the fence on this matter.
While they were talking, we continued our small conference.
"Be honest, have you really not spent any alone time with these three? You can tell us, we're the same person after all."
"If we're the same person, couldn't you just figure that out yourself?" Aragon couldn't help complaining, but all that followed was laughter that came from the other two.
It would be easy for them to share their minds and find the information that they wanted, but there was no fun in that. If they were to do that, then there was no point in talking to each other like this.
So that was why they waited for Aragon to say something.
The other two were basically teasing him on this matter.
After a long silence, Aragon said with a sigh, "It's complicated. I'm not going to do anything just yet, but who knows what will happen in time?"
At this, Yulian asked, "What about you and those two following you?"
This question was naturally directed at Gran Jurad to which he fell silent.
Aragon started laughing and teasing Gran Jurad as well when he heard this.
Gran Jurad remained silent until, "I'm in a different situation compared to you two. You two don't have to worry about the consequences of being with someone since it's not serious. But you have to remember that they are the saintess and the third princess."
There was a trace of annoyance that was in his voice as he said this.
It wasn't just their identities that annoyed him, it was also the fact that he was constantly being watched as the hero. That meant that there were few things he was able to do.
The one time when he had been able to sneak off to invite the ice demons was one of the few free moments that he had.
Now that he was back, he was being treated as more of a hero and it was harder for him to find any time where he didn't have to act like a hero.
In the end, Aragon spoke up since he felt pity for Gran Jurad.
In a sense, he knew what Gran Jurad was feeling since he had to act like a proper high elf among the elves.
"What about you? You're still stuck under the thumb of that young miss from that noble family?"
Yulian felt a trace of bitterness when he heard this.
There was nothing that he could say about this since he was doing this for the sake of everyone, but he did feel a bit sad that he wasn't able to have fun every day like he had done in the past.
Because of what Debora Denoir did, he had no choice but to remain in the capital and work for the Land Surveying Department.
In the end, the three of them all stopped talking about this since there was nothing for them to gain from talking about this. The only thing that they were actually doing was just hurting each other.
But still, it was better for them to talk like this than to listen to the boring words of King Abel and Elder Arun.
Since everything had gone according to plan, there was only one way for things to go.
There was no reason for them to keep listening to them.
Well, there was the surprise that the demons were involved with the elven slave trace since that wasn't something that had happened before. So there was a bit of cause for concern on this matter.
But there was nothing that they could do about it.
The only thing that they could do was leave this matter to Val Zahar since he was the demon king and the one that would be able to find information on this the best.
All they could do now was continue acting out their roles and prepare for what was to come.
"Alright, then that's settled." King Abel suddenly said which brought their attention back to their conversation.
Elder Arun nodded in agreement and it seemed like he was satisfied with what had been discussed with King Abel.
Just like this, the elves and humans agreed to work together against the demons.
