Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 101: Courting Death

It was as if time stopped…

In a speed that was faster than light itself…

All the women shot forward toward the human, their faces twisted in ugly, hateful expressions, their eyes burning with malice.

As they advanced, their nails stretched unnaturally, transforming into razor-sharp claws, ready to tear into flesh.

However, Feng Shen's golden eyes gleamed with a fierce intensity.

In a swift motion, he reached out with both hands, seizing the necks of the two women charging at his sides:

"COURTING DEATH!"

With a powerful grip, Feng Shen snapped their necks, the sound echoing through the air.

As he stood tall, his foot lashed out, striking the woman in the center with such force that she flew upward, crashing into another woman and sending her slamming into the ceiling.

In the same fluid motion, Feng Shen performed a backflip, narrowly evading the woman who had come up behind him.

Mid-air, he grabbed her hair with a brutal yank, ripping it from her scalp.

Immediately, those still alive regained their balance.

With a collective snarl, they surged forward once more, but this time, a pink mist began to radiate from them, enveloping their bodies in a glowing, pulsating aura.

Using his own Qi to create a barrier that blocked the pink mist, Feng Shen grinned maniacally, his expression wild with confidence:

"You're all a joke!"

Without hesitation, Feng Shen launched himself forward, closing the distance in an instant.

As the women descended upon him, their claws slashing at his skin, he paid no mind to the impact.

The nails shattered against Feng Shen's flesh, unable to pierce his defenses, and he met their onslaught head-on, relentless and unscathed.

Seeing their attacks fail, the women let out shrill screams of pain.

Blood poured from their fingers, dripping onto the bed as they staggered back, trying to create distance.

But one by one, Feng Shen swiftly closed the gap, grabbing each woman with ruthless precision.

With a single, crushing motion, he twisted their necks, ending their struggles as their heads were shattered in his grip.

Soon enough, only one woman remained. In a final, desperate attempt to beg for mercy, she shifted back into her original form—an ugly, grotesque demon, her once-human features distorting into something monstrous.

She fell to her knees, kowtowing before the human, her eyes wide with fear and desperation:

"I beg that you spare me! I apolg—…"

Before the demon could fully apologize…

With a cold, disdainful look in his eyes, Feng Shen brought his foot down hard, crushing the demon's head beneath his heel.

As the creature's body crumpled, the pink mist around him began to dissipate, fading into nothingness.

Feng Shen's gaze swept around, and he found himself back on the ground, surrounded by the lifeless corpses of the demons.

"That was… quick…" he muttered to himself, shrugging his shoulders, genuinely surprised by how fast it had all happened.

Given it was a high floor, Feng Shen expected a more intense challenge.

However, he knew all too well that many young men and women would easily fall prey to lust and temptation, which explained why this floor was so high in the Tower:

'Unfortunately, young hearts are far more susceptible to corruption and deceit when it comes to lust than those of the experienced.'

Feng Shen shook his head, pushing aside the lingering thoughts as he made his way forward, ready to ascend to the next floor.

Reaching the top, he found himself standing before a massive, imposing entrance.

With a steady breath, Feng Shen stepped through.

Inside, he was greeted by an unexpected sight—the entire floor was submerged in water, stretching endlessly before him.

Feng Shen's golden eyes scanned the watery expanse, his gaze settling on several sea creatures, their forms sleek and fish-like, gliding silently through the depths.

Their eyes fixed directly on him.

Sighing, Feng Shen face palmed:

"Let's just get this over with…"

"Ah~ finally… The 100th Floor! It seems I'm first?" Feng Shen muttered with a sense of satisfaction, his boredom with the Tower clear in his voice.

His path up had been marked by a trail of slaughter, a relentless march of destruction he'd left in his wake.

Now, standing on the final floor, Feng Shen looked around the empty space around him.

There was nothing.

Feng Shen's patience began to wane as he stood in the silence, his frustration growing. With a flick of his wrist, he pointed his middle finger to the right, his eyes narrowing.

"Hey, you bastards!" he called out, his voice dripping with irritation:

"Are you gonna announce that I'm the winner or what? I'm bored out of my mind!"

Feng Shen was done playing along inside this Tower.

As the middle finger was broadcasted on the hologram screens, a wave of anger rippled through the crowd.

Students yelled in outrage, their faces flushed with indignation.

Some instructors even looked as though they had been slapped across the face, their expressions a mix of disbelief and disgust.

The boos grew louder, and curses filled the air.

It had seemed this brazen gesture had ignited a firestorm of fury, turning the crowd into a sea of seething contempt.

Equally annoyed, the Tournament Overseer's patience finally snapped.

He opened his mouth, his voice booming:

"Student Feng Shen, you still have to clear the 100th Floor! Stop being so arrogant and finish the damn race!"

Hearing those words, Feng Shen let out an exaggerated sigh.

"Fine… If you don't want to come out…" he muttered under his breath… "I'll force you out…"

Without another word, Feng Shen lifted his foot and brought it down with a force that shook the very ground.

The moment his foot made contact, a web of cracks spread across the floor, the sound of breaking stone resounding.

The entire floor began to tremble and shatter, fragments of rock and debris splintering as the structure itself seemed to collapse.

As the floor crumbled beneath him, Feng Shen's eyes finally landed on the final monster he had to kill.
