Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 100: Illusion

With a small, confident smile tugging at the corners of his lips, Feng Shen placed his hands casually behind his back and began walking toward the creature.

His steps were slow, each one echoing softly on the now-silent floor.

The Peryton watched the human intently, its sharp, avian eyes narrowing as it tracked his every movement.

Its muscles tensed, the massive wings twitching slightly, as though readying to unleash another devastating attack at any moment.

Yet, Feng Shen showed no sign of concern.

His demeanor was as calm as if he were strolling through a garden rather than approaching a creature capable of annihilating the entire Tower.

"You're quite the sight," Feng Shen said, his tone light and almost playful. "But let's see how long you can keep that composure."

Without warning, he stopped in place, as his confident smile widened, and he opened his mouth, releasing Dragon's Roar.

The sound was deafening, a primal explosion of raw power that reverberated forward, shaking the very foundation of the Tower.

A surge of Qi burst forth, crackling with energy as it shot straight toward the Peryton.

The air around the attack shimmered and distorted, the sheer intensity of the Qi overwhelming everything in its path.

Dust and debris scattered in all directions as the shockwave expanded outward.

The Peryton, no longer passive, raised its wings defensively, the glowing feathers forming a radiant shield to absorb the brunt of the attack.

Sparks flew as the Dragon's Roar collided with the barrier, forcing the creature back several steps.

Despite the Peryton's size and power, the force of the Qi attack was enough to cause it to lose some balance.

Feng Shen let out a small chuckle, watching intently, his expression now tinged with a mix of amusement:

"Let's see if you're as tough as you look."

As the debris settled, the aftermath of the Dragon's Roar became clear.

The Peryton's radiant shield had been completely shattered, fragments of energy dispersing into the air like dying embers.

The creature let out a sharp, guttural roar—not of pain, but of irritation. Its annoyance was evident.

It stamped its powerful hooves onto the ground, each impact sending tremors through the floor.

However, rather than charging forward toward the human might…

The Peryton began to retreat.

Its movements were cautious, creating more distance between itself and the human before it.

Feng Shen arched an eyebrow at this display. "Backing off now? Really?" he said, his tone dripping with mockery:

"You're supposed to be a mighty creature, not a timid deer."

The Peryton didn't respond to the provocation.

Instead, its wings flared open slightly, the feathers shimmering faintly as it gathered energy.

"Interesting…" Feng Shen muttered, adjusting his stance. "Let's see what you've got, then."

A moment later, the Peryton's massive wings began to flap, each movement sending powerful gusts of wind rippling forward.

Then, without warning, bursts of concentrated Qi started firing as well, each pulse streaking through the air like beams of radiant energy.

Feng Shen sighed, his grin fading into an expression of boredom. "You really are weak," he muttered, lowering his hands to his sides.

Instead of dodging, he stood still, his arms outstretched as if inviting the attack.

The bursts struck Feng Shen head-on, one after another, each impact accompanied by a deafening explosion of energy.

The entire Tower shook violently, the walls and floor trembling under the force of the Peryton's relentless barrage.

When the assault finally ceased, the air cleared to reveal Feng Shen standing in the same spot, completely unscathed.

His clothes were pristine, and his calm demeanor hadn't wavered in the slightest.

Not even a scratch marred Feng Shen's figure.

He raised an eyebrow and let out a disappointed sigh. "Really? That's it? All that effort, and you didn't even singe my sleeves."

Feng Shen brushed imaginary dust off his shoulder, his tone dripping with disdain:

"You were supposed to be some legendary beast. This is just embarrassing."

The Peryton froze, its glowing eyes narrowing as it took even more cautious steps back, seemingly unnerved by the human's display of invulnerability.

Feng Shen tilted his head, his mocking grin returning:

"Your turn's over. Now, let me show you how it's done."

In an instant, Feng Shen used Cloudsurf, the technique manifesting just before him.

For a moment, it lingered, shielding him from view.

Then, without warning, Feng Shen directed it forward.

The Peryton hesitated, confusion etched across its features as it warily stepped back, its gaze fixed on the sluggish attack approaching.

Its retreat continued until its back pressed against the cold wall.

Suddenly, a jolt of alarm shot through the Peryton's body, its instincts screaming in warning.

Reacting in a panic, it's antlers glowed with energy as it frantically conjured a protective shield around itself, desperate to ward off the unseen threat.

Moments later, Dragon's Roar emerged from within the cloud, now immense and far wider than before.

Its sheer size and brilliance illuminated everything, blinding the surroundings as it barreled toward the creature with unstoppable force.

The impact was catastrophic—its overwhelming power shattered the hastily constructed shield in an instant and struck the Peryton directly.

A piercing scream echoed through the air as its body was slammed against the wall with such force that the wall crumbled, sending the creature hurtling out of the Tower.

However, its fall was abruptly halted as it collided with a shimmering barrier outside.

In that moment, the Peryton dissolved into pure energy, its form disintegrating into a radiant glow.

As the remnants faded, the surroundings began to rebuild themselves.

Feng Shen yawned, clearly unimpressed. "That was pretty lame…"

He had expected the Peryton to at least manage to block one of his attacks, but it seemed he had overestimated the creature.

It was nothing more than a foolish beast, unworthy of its so-called legendary status.

In frustration, Feng Shen spat toward the hole in the wall, watching as it began to repair itself.

A deep sense of shame washed over him; such a creature had no business being called legendary.

"Well~ onto the next floor…" Feng Shen murmured.

He continued upward, moving toward the next floor with a casual pace.

As Feng Shen stepped through the entrance, his eyes quickly swept across the vast, empty space:

"Hello~? Anybody here~?"

There was nothing—no movement, no sound, nothing to suggest life or activity.

A curious glint sparked in Feng Shen's golden eyes as he scanned every corner, his sharp senses reaching out for any trace of presence.

But there was nothing.

"This can't be…" Feng Shen said, scratching his chin thoughtfully.

He took a step forward, but the moment his foot touched the ground, a pink powder filled the air, swirling like a delicate mist.

It enveloped the floor in an instant, and Feng Shen's senses began to blur.

A strange heaviness clouded his mind as the powder seeped into his nose and mouth, its sweet, alluring scent impossible to resist.

Before Feng Shen could react, the world around him shifted.

Suddenly, he found himself lying on a grand, luxurious red bed, its silk sheets cool against his skin.

Surrounding Feng Shen were dozens of breathtakingly beautiful women, each radiating a cold, ethereal charm.

Some had the elegance of empresses, while others exuded the delicate grace of fairies, their beauty almost otherworldly.

"Second Young Master, your Qi is so powerful; just being near you makes my heart race. Won't you teach me the secret to your strength?"

"Ah~ your gaze pierces deeper than any sword. I can't help but feel drawn to the warmth of your presence."

"Your cultivation is unparalleled, Second Young Master. If you held me in your arms, perhaps I could reach the heavens with you."

"Oh my~ your touch must hold the power of the heavens. Let me stay by your side and bask in your brilliance."

"Second Young Master, they say dual cultivation can enhance one's power greatly. Shall we test the limits of our potential together?"

Having heard all the women's words, Feng Shen's lips curled into a smile, revealing a flash of his teeth. Without a word, he reached out to the nearest woman.

His fingers brushed against her delicate chin, tilting her head gently as he drew her closer.

"How could I refuse a request from someone as enchanting as yourself? Your beauty is a treasure worthy of the heavens."

Feng Shen leaned in, closing the distance until the woman's lips hovered just a breath away from his.

"Ah~ the Second Young Master is so manly~."

Just as their lips were about to meet, Feng Shen's expression shifted, his golden eyes flashing with a predatory gleam.

In an instant, he lunged forward, sinking his teeth into the woman's neck like a wild beast.

The woman's pale skin gave way under Feng Shen's bite as he tore into her throat with savage force, his teeth ripping through flesh.

Blood flowed freely, staining his lips and chin as he held her in an unrelenting grip.

The woman's lifeless body slumped in Feng Shen's grasp, and in that moment, her radiant beauty began to fade.

Her once flawless skin darkened and shriveled, revealing the hideous form beneath—a grotesque demon covered in scars, oozing pimples, and cracked, leathery skin.

Her figure deflated like a withered husk as she collapsed to the ground, the illusion of her allure shattered in an instant.

Silence…

All the other "women" hadn't expected this.

Wiping the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand, Feng Shen's lips curled into a gentle yet chilling smile:

"What's the matter? Aren't you going to try and seduce me? Go ahead—I don't mind. But fair warning, I like things a bit… hardcore. And, well… I can be a little sadistic. Hope that's not a problem!"
