Chapter 256. Ranking battle 3
" He is finally ready to use his affinities, huh. I suppose it's time to crush him with physical strength."
Kailen hovered calmly across the sea, staring at Esimo with a calm expression on his obsidian face.
" Elemental Synergy."
Esimo muttered underneath his breath.
Under the gazes of several individuals staring at the arena turned into a sea stretching as far as the eyes could see, atop which he and Kailen had been battling, the temperature of the region plummeted completely as the nearby regions of the sea surface turned into ice.
Then, the sky spawned flames, blanketing the sky in a canvas of blazing orange flames.
A tornado of lightning flickered to life, hovering around him.
The flames blanketing the skies, the ice covering the seas, and the tornado of lightning shot towards Ashton, weaving an extremely magnificent sight into existence—an elemental silhouette of a ginormous elemental titan, mirroring his appearance, appeared around him, illuminating the environs in an iridescent hue, courtesy of its color.
On closer look, one would realise the silhouette of the ginormous elemental titan looked exactly like Esimo.
A hammer suddenly appeared in Esimo's hand.
The moment the hammer appeared in his hand, one appeared in the hand of the titan too.
" He's finally using his strongest and signature move."
Everlong, alongside others who were familiar with the battles of Esimo, thought.
Esimo's figure flashed.
In the span of a second, with the silhouette of the ginormous elemental titan around him, he appeared before Kailen.
" Interesting."
Rather than the expression of fear many were expecting from Kailen, he was intrigued with the move Esimo had used.
So many ideas he had never considered sprung up in his mind.
He would need time to digest them later.
As for Esimo, he swung the hammer with lethal ferocity towards Kailen, the attack so ferocious that the void screamed in fear.
The silhouette of the ginormous elemental titan's hammer, covering Esimo's own hammer, pulsing with lethal ferocity, was swung towards Kailen at the same time.
The hammer of the silhouette of the elemental titan poured endless power into the attack, causing the air to tear apart like pieces of paper.
" This attack enhances my strength to the rank 1 intermediate stage Ascendant level. Even if I can't win, I should at least lose with some dignity," he mused to himself inwardly as he gritted his teeth, pouring all his universe energy reserves into the attack.
" This guy is a monster. He's able to execute power rivalling a rank 1 intermediate stage Ascendant level lifeform," Kailen couldn't help but mutter as the attack was closing in on him.
The spectators were all thinking the same thing.
This batch of first-year students were really full of freaks! Absolute freaks!
Kailen sighed.
" But he met me, too bad for him. It was a nice fight."
Kailen finally moved.
A simple, lethal, straightforward punch.
He no longer held back.
The monstrous strength of a rank 2 intermediate stage Ascendant level strength poured into the punch.
The two attacks met.
Silence.
For a breath moment.
A deafening clang.
A resounding boom.
Cataclysmic shockwaves spread outwards, causing the waves of the sea to rise and churn.
Kailen was bathed in the lethal elemental energy of Esimo, his whole being now completely submerged in the iridescent elemental energy of Esimo from the attack.
Just when everyone watching wanted to know who came out victorious from this blood-pumping, view-shattering exchange, a figure plummeted down, several kilometers from the point of impact towards the sea.
Shortly after that, the elemental energy covering Kailen disappeared, revealing his obsidian form to the onlookers.
Compared to his opponent, who had blood coming out of his mouth, barely managing to keep himself afloat on the sea surface, Kailen looked completely unharmed—as if the exchange that had occurred was just a walk in the park for him.
He stood calm, straight, confident, indomitable.
" So this is the strength of the first-year top-ranked? This guy is a monster."
Lian Yu sighed.
" That guy is also a monster in his own right. Inasmuch as he is no match for Kailen Darkhaven," Anaya voiced sincerely, " these first years are really monsters."
Several other senior students, instructors, and even first years who had come to spectate the match thought the same thing as they stared at Kailen with complicated expressions.
A rank 1 beginner stage Ascendant level lifeform able to skip levels and even best a rank 2 beginner stage Ascendant level—who had a tier 2 elemental mirroring, and could rival rank 1 intermediate stage Ascendant level lifeforms by going all out?
How strong will he be when he grows stronger?
Various factions in the academy were gleaming with desire to attempt to rope Kailen in.
Of course, inasmuch as Esimo had been defeated by Kailen, he was also a monster in his own right. Therefore, many factions had taken notice of him too.
With these two in any of their ranks, their factions would soar in the foreseeable future.
Henritha, amongst the spectators, stared at Kailen with a complicated expression.
" This guy is a monster? I offended someone like this?"
He may not have been strong like her at the moment, but given a short time, apart from his prowess in alchemy, even his combat prowess made it obvious that he would grow past her and become a renowned person in the Empire.
She had to make amends with him as soon as possible.
After the battle, she would search for him and apologize to him as soon as possible!
If this guy held a grudge against her, she might get into trouble in the near future when he had the strength to take revenge.
Also, her uncle and older cousin would be very disappointed to hear that she is on bad terms with their benefactor.
Cimeris and Sanguine were not faring well.
They had hoped that someone would teach the person who had enslaved them a lesson.
However, they had been delirious.
This guy was simply a monster.
They did not notice a senior student looking at them from behind.
" You win. It was a nice fight. Let's spar when we have the time."
Esimo voiced loudly to Kailen with a slight smile, not in the least bit offended that he lost to Kailen.
Kailen's eyes widened slightly in surprise.
Turns out this guy was quite open-minded.
He was not an arrogant young master. He hated those people.
Also, he noticed the guy had no evil intention behind his words, even confirmed with his detective gimmick skill.
Kailen replied with a slight smile, " I look forward to sparring with you."
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.
Since the gentleman showed no evil intention and had not acted like a snob, he didn't mind being open-minded and free with him. After all, connections were necessary, and this fellow seemed pretty reasonable from their short exchange.
He had read many cliché novels from Earth where many opponents would refuse to admit defeat after battles and unreasonably say their opponents cheated during the battle and all that.
Kailen had been prepared to torture this guy, thinking he'd resort to such nonsense.
But it seemed it wasn't necessary.
" I guess not everyone is like those guys from those novels, and not everyone is like Hugh Ass."
With that, the duo left the range of the arena.
Their original bodies appeared, unharmed, as the battlefield disappeared, causing the normal surroundings to appear again.
However, Esimo looked extremely tired.
After all, a battle with their consciousness was still a battle, so it affected him in one way or the other, although it wasn't anything worth worrying about—he'd be fine after some rest.
Everlong waved to Kailen, who nodded, slightly more receptive than usual.
Kailen turned into a streak of light and disappeared after that.
" We forgot to exchange contacts with him. Let's follow him."
The duo disappeared, heading towards Kailen's direction.
Henrita too followed along.
She didn't know where he stayed, so this was the perfect chance to find out. It was possible that those two were following after Kailen.
She had to apologise to this guy as soon as possible.
