Slavery . A position no one wanted to be in.

They'd rather die than be slaves, entities whose decisions ,lives and choices were not their own.

Sanguine and Cimeris ,stared weakly at the Devil in obsidian clad armor who's hands firmly gripped their necks, sending cold chills crawling up their spines.

Looks of maliciousness flashed through their eyes.

One they thought Kailen could not perceive.

However they could have never been more wrong.

Kailen's perception had never been ordinary.

It was a fool's thought to think he wouldn't notice that subtle expression of mischief , and maliciousness that flashed through their eyes.

Also, aided by the detective Gimmicks skill, Kailen percieved an evil motivation ,hidden behind their expressions.

Quickly, he figured out what they wanted to do.

The bastards wanted to self detonate.

They were geniuses , having their own pride huh.

Admirable ,truly admirable.Kailen scoffed them inwardly.

They'd rather die than become the slaves of someone else huh.

Kailen watched them with calm indifference .

The moment they tried to trigger the mechanism of self detonation, extreme pain shot through their beings, so much so that they thought they were in the 18th chamber of hell.

" Fascinating isn't it?"

Kailen's cold voice rung in their ears,watching them scream, in extreme pain.

He furthered " Just a little bit of something I slipped into your blood to make sure you don't try anything stupid. Don't forget I'm an alchemist . I have my ways"

They understood his words, it's meaning ,daunting.

Whatever poison he had slipped in their blood , had given him complete power of them.

He could kill them at anytime he willed, and anything they did to defy his will, including killing themselves when he didn't even want them to, well... they had just seen the consequences.

Simply ,they couldn't act against Kailen or do anything to end their slavery, not even kill themselves.

Sanguine and Cimeris felt their whole world crumbling.

Even the freedom to take their own lives has been taken away from them?

Sigh.

But how could he anticipate they'd try something like this?

Was this guy not too crafty and savage for a seventeen year old?

" How does it feel to be powerless ,to be at the bottom of the food chain?"

Kailen asked them-mockingly, having tossed two healing pills ,products of his making, to them.

Consuming the healing pills ,their injuries healed at an astonishing pace.

They returned to their former appearance in the span of a few moments.

Cimeris had recovered her bountiful chest , a red cloth having materialised around her figure.

She felt utterly humiliated .

Everyone in the empire had surely seen her nakedness, her humiliation.

Yet,she could do nothing .

At this point , the only thing she felt was helplessness and...regret.

Regret for being a member of the Arcane Empowerment Sect ,which later led her to embark on an attempted path to invade earth,only to offend this brutal monster.

Sanguine has recovered his "dragon" and " sacred jewels,now clothed, fully healed and recovered.

Compared to Cimeris who seemed to be struggling with coming to terms with what had just transpired, although he was shocked and pained, he accepted it quickly.

He replied Kailen's question with a carefree expression ,courtesy of Kailen no longer gripping thier necks,floating some distance away from them.

" Strangely , demeaning,but what can we do?.

Before our trial that led us to earth, our sect used similar methods of invading smaller ranked planets ,to dominate the citizens ,even kill them , as a means of training us to be ruthless . Some of the citizens of these planets were even sold to be slaves. It's probably karma at work here . As long as we are cooperative ,we won't have to suffer right?"

Cimeris stared at Sanguine who had reacted to he whole situation with a calmer outlook than her.

" Right. He's always one to easily adapt"

Kailen chuckled lightly , one that made Sanguine regret asking the question.

Even Cimeris stared at him as though she wanted to curse Sanguine.

Were they even in a place to question Kailen?

However contrary to the beating and torment they had expected ,Kailen replied ,his voice calm,devoid of emotion.

" Frankly I have no use for you two. I just wanted to make your lives miserable . I've read about your sect. In the name of secret trials ,you invade worlds without the protection of a powerhouse in the universe and cause chaos ,kill citizens and even enslave some of them"

He paused for a moment ,then furthered

" Frankly I don't care about what your sect did or does to other planets,but your mistake was targeting my home planet, where my loved ones dwell. Just wanted you to experience what I could have probably experienced, were I to be in your shoes"

Cimeris sighed deeply ,grasping the meaning behind Kailen's words.

She probed though, inquisitive .

" So technically you don't have some purpose for us to serve. But you just made us your slaves , just because you wanted us to know the pain of being slaves- living our lives with the lingering fear that you can kill us at anytime you want , and that our choices ,even death, is no longer an option we can make for ourselves?"

Sanguine's gaze flashed between Kailen and Cimeris ,awaiting his confirmation of Cimeris' probe.

" Spot on. Now I will leave you be. Don't try anything funny. I have my ways of watching you. Yes, even privacy is not a luxury you can afford anymore . See you in the academy"

With that,Kailen chuckled lightly ,certainly pleased with their situation ,then dissapeared, leaving the duo stunned and helpless.

Arcane Empowerment Sect, Rivalous Peak.

Sect Leader's Residence.

" Are there some senior students from the sect in the Academy?"

A man with a bald head, clad in luxurious robes ,voiced ,his voice chilly as he stared at the holographic screen before him.

Several sect elders surrounding him felt a heavy pressure bear down on them when he spoke, his killing intent ,so palpable that they were barely standing ,several of them suffocating.

One of them , managing to maintain her composure, albeit slightly,replied with reverence .

" Yes ,Sect Leader "

The man replied,his voice calm,yet malicious ,full of raw ,palpable rage " Tell them to get rid of him when he enrolls in the academy. We cannot accept this humiliation . Two of our promising geniuses have just been utterly humiliated and made slaves . Also, he dared question our trial methods? How naive"

The sect leader dissapeared from the large hall the moment he spoke without waiting for a reply from the subordinate.

His words were absolute.

Yet, he didn't know that he had just signed a death warrant for his sect.

One he would come to realize in the no so distant future.
