Chapter 12: 12
On the first of September, we stood on the platform, preparing for departure. The signal to board was given. Daphne, Astoria and I began to look for a free compartment, which we found quite quickly.
After taking our seats and, from experience, locking the door and casting a spell of silence, I looked at Astoria. Dark hair, brown eyes and, unlike her older sister, a lively smile that never faded. Now I had to make sure she got into my faculty.
Daphne, without hesitation, sat down next to me and took my hand. I squeezed Daphne's hand even tighter. Astoria didn't pay any attention to this.
The trip went without incident. We took our seats and waited to be assigned. When the hat was brought out, I sent her a mental message with my request.
While the first-years were still entering, I scanned the students. Weasley was actively trying to prove that he had saved my life, but naturally, no one believed him. Hermione was sitting not far from him, wearing a white mask. She had been absent for the entire second half of last year. The wizards at Mungo's tried to rid her of the curse, but to no avail. The ulcers on the girl's face had to be surgically removed, leaving scars that refused to fade.
Many would think I'm cruel. But I don't care! I saved her life, she should have come to me, but she played around with boys, taking advantage of the beauty I gave her. Or was I supposed to run after her? Pff...
The first-year students entered the hall. Astoria was already dressed in Black Wing, indicating where she was preparing to enrol.
"Colin Cree." McGonagall called out to the boy with the camera.
"Hmm... You won't survive there! Don't even ask! Gryffindor!" - The boy walked to the designated table, looking confused.
"Ginny Weasley.
The red-haired girl approached the stool and sat down. I'm getting inside her head, so this is what you're like... Maybe we should just bury her right away? She's got nothing but potions and needles in her coat, just like at Christmas, and she won't stop there...
"You? Don't make me laugh, girl. You've got nothing to catch. Gryffindor!" - said the hat, sending Ginny to the red and gold table.
"Polly Lovegood.
"Ooo... Yeah, I get it. Dova!" - A blonde girl with blue eyes, which turned brown for a moment and then back again, smiled and sat down at my table.
Looking at her, I was shocked. Such magical power in a human being! "That's amazing!" But something about her bothered me. More precisely, her gaze, filled with love and mischief. But then it all disappeared.
"Astoria Green Grass.
Astoria came out and sat down on a stool. The hood from the Black Wing was removed, revealing her head, which was covered with a hat.
"Dova!" Astoria ran happily towards us and sat down at the table.
I wasn't interested in what happened next. The feast continued, the students ate, Luna no longer looked at me, Dumbledore looked at Lockhart. Everything was fine.
After the feast, I took the girls, under the invisibility spell, to the eighth floor to our living room. Astoria and Daphne decided to live in the same room. The sisters had already discussed some issues concerning our faculty. Luna got a separate room.
The girl stood watching her sisters go into their room, and then...
"Aldee! I missed you! You're growing up to be so handsome! All the girls will be yours!
A blonde whirlwind rushed at me, and I couldn't understand what was happening. Looking at the girl, I noticed her eyes again, they had turned brown again. Those eyes, that behaviour and similar appearance, it was...
"Mum..." I whispered silently, moving only my lips. Was this fate?
I hugged the girl, pressing her as tightly as I could. How I missed them...
"Yeah! Can you imagine! In this world, I found my disciple, who can keep me here for a while! How Magic and Death must envy me! This is so rare, they wanted to visit you too! But I'm lucky! Let them sit there and envy me! They're losers! They... They... They left me without sweets for this! But I can visit you sometimes. Are you happy?
I just held her in my arms, kissing her on the top of her head. Fate finally stopped talking and sat silently, pressing her head against my chest.
"Don't hurt this girl. She's still very young and can't keep me here for long. She knows about you and us, she'll be loyal and help in any way she can. It's time for me to go.
Her brown eyes began to lighten until they were sky blue. I didn't let go of Luna's hands, and she didn't try to pull away...
The days began to pass slowly but surely. I made Luna a costume for our faculty and gave her an amulet. The girl herself was not of this world, immediately making it clear that she was unique and the most unpredictable of the three sisters. She loved to say strange things and stare into space.
"I can see destinies... It's hard to know that people can lose their lives or what is dear to them. But I don't see the destinies of those who are close to you. That makes it easier for me." That's what she said once.
A guy from Gryffindor was always trying to follow me around, trying to film me with his camera, but he was no match for me.
Ginny Weasley was also annoying. I could see in her eyes that she was obsessed with me. And the way she looked at Daphne, Astoria and Luna... I was ready to throw a fireball at her right then and there.
The teachers continued to teach and force us to take off our headphones during their lessons, but they didn't get anywhere. Snape was furious, assigning us the most complicated potions to brew, which I did, and then put my headphones back on. Professor Stubble began teaching us how to grow mandrakes.
When we arrived at Lockhart's first lesson, Daphne and I sat down at the same desk. The writer stood at his desk, smiling, his hand on a cage covered with a cloth.
"This is me! And this is me! Yes, you are lucky to be learning from someone who walked in the mountains with the snowman. You can find out more in the book "The Yeti and I: Best Friends." Read about the one who was in the vampire castle in "My Bloody Child." But let's not talk about that now! First, I'll give you a test to check how well you've read and understood the material from my books. Let's get started!
We were given tests with questions. This is definitely going to be my favourite lesson. After answering the questions, I handed in my answer sheet.
"No, no, and no... Mr. Potter, I clearly said that my favourite colour is lilac, not purple with green polka dots. And the colour of my eyes is not 'black as night', but blue! And my secret dream is world peace, although I wouldn't say no to a hundred-metre-tall statue made of gold..." He whispered the last words.
"I'll check the rest of the answers later. Today! I'll show you dangerous creatures! The embodiment of horror! But don't be afraid, as long as I'm here, you're safe. Try not to scream, you might provoke them!" With these words, he pulled the cloth off the cage, revealing...
"Cornish pixies!?" One Gryffindor noticed, and the class burst into laughter. Daphne and I remained silent, watching everything, and I even took off my headphones.
"These are freshly caught Cornish pixies. Laugh all you want, but their antics can cause a lot of trouble. Let's see how you deal with them!" With these words, Lockhart opened the cage.
Two dozen small blue humanoid creatures flew out, destroying everything in their path. A satisfied Lockhart wanted to cast a spell, but the pixies took his magic wand and started shooting golden sparks at the professor, who had crawled under the table.
One of the students was hung from the chandelier, while the others tried to fight them off with books.
I released some of my aura to scare away the small creatures, took Daphne by the hand and led her to the exit. It was strange that we were the only ones to leave the classroom. On the way, I fired a stinging spell at Lockhart's private parts, which were sticking out from under the table. He squealed from my charge, jumped up, hit his head on the tabletop, and fell unconscious.
Leaving the classroom unnoticed, I locked the doors with a spell and went to our living room.
"Why didn't we help?" Daphne asked.
"Why? Young wizards must learn how to fight such terrible creatures!" I mimicked Lockhart.
Daphne smiled and followed me.
A month passed, during which I continued to teach Daphne magic. Luna and Astoria joined us. As it turned out, Luna could keep Destiny's mind for five minutes a month. It wasn't much for me, but even so, I was glad to talk to my mother.
One day, returning from training in the forbidden forest, where the girls and I had been practising a couple of spells on large spiders, I heard a quiet voice...
"Come to me! Come to me... Blood, I need your blood..." The voice was quiet, and I could only tell that it was moving.
"Girls, did you hear that? A voice, quiet and predatory.
"What voice?" - Astoria asked. Daphne and Luna just tensed up, pulling out their magic wands. I listened carefully.
"It seems to have gone, but be careful, I don't like this. Give me the amulets in the living room, I'll improve them.
All my instincts were telling me there was danger. Not for me, but for the girls, and I couldn't let that happen.
As we went up to my room, we passed through the third floor.
"Kill! Let me kill myself! I need blood!" - That voice again! The girls calmly followed me, paying no attention.
Using a life detection spell, I managed to see something large and long hiding in the walls, then disappearing. There was a faint flicker of another life nearby.
"Be ready to use invisibility, keep your wands ready for battle.
All the girls except Astoria became serious and ready to attack. Astoria was confused and stayed behind everyone else.
I went forward. Turning the corner, I walked across the floor and heard the sound of water, water was spilled on the floor.
"Ah... Alduin..." Astoria pointed to the wall.
Looking there, I saw that same faint source of life. It was Filch, the castle caretaker's cat. She was hanging by her tail from a torch that illuminated an inscription written in blood.
"The secret room is open, enemies of the heir, tremble..." Nice, but I would have written it differently. How about: "An ancient evil has been awakened... Those who dare to look into the eyes of the heir will burn in agony." Although it's long, this inscription will do.
We heard a crowd of people approaching. Were they... waiting for someone's signal? Let's use our invisibility and get out of here.
So, what can I say... the cat was under a paralysis spell, and judging by the traces of the curse, it must have been several times stronger. It should have stopped everything, including the heart, which is death. Such a curse is cast through the eyes, and there was water on the floor. Perhaps a reflection? Let's take that as a working theory.
That night, I improved the girls' amulets. Now they slightly distort vision, imperceptibly to the owners, but enough to weaken the curse.
What should I do with that creature? Finding it is not a problem; I am interested in its goals. We will wait, but if my loved ones are threatened, I will destroy that creature no matter what.
The next day, the whole school was talking about the Chamber of Secrets. In class, after Hermione asked a question, the teacher told us a legend that one of the school's founders had built a secret room during construction and kept a beast there. The founder was Salazar Slytherin. Well, now only Weasley won't guess what kind of beast is sitting there. With these thoughts in mind, I went to the headmaster.
"Yes, sir, Slytherin's mascot is a snake. The founder himself was a snake charmer. Most likely, it's a basilisk.
"Do you know where the secret room is?
"No, I'm sorry...
Well, that's no problem, I'll use the path search and find out where the snake's nest is, even if it's far away, it's still family. King of Snakes, you may have a conversation with the King of Dragons."I need your blood... Let me kill you...
Hearing this, I smiled.
