Chapter 11: 11
"Where are you going? I didn't give you permission to leave!" I say, starting to pull the Dark Lord's soul towards me. There's not much left, just two more seconds, and I'll be able to absorb his soul...
"I'll save you!" - I was knocked off my feet, and the soul took advantage of this and flew as far away as possible.
"You made it! Who knows what could have happened to you if it had caught you! Come on, we have to tell them what happened here.
I was overcome with rage... That red-haired spawn of Corus... she saw us in the forbidden corridor and followed us here?! He saved the Dark Lord's soul, but more importantly... he deprived me of my prey!
"Daphne... Knock him out and take him away! Another couple of seconds and there'll be two dead bodies here!
I was shaking, my fingers dug into the stone floor, breaking it. Daphne, without asking any questions, knocked out the idiot who dared to take the dragon's prey and, levitating him, headed for the exit.
I was about to start destroying the hall, but suddenly I felt warm, soft lips touch my cheek.
Daphne ran away, and I began to calm down quickly. Not enough for Weasley to survive if he stayed here. But now he would die quickly. After sitting for a while, I got up and went to the common room of my faculty. I had to gather my things and prepare for departure. As I made my way there, the students I encountered began to tremble with fear. Noticing this, I removed my aura and cast a cloak of invisibility.
Daphne had already taken Ron's body to the infirmary and was sitting by the fireplace. Her things were already packed and standing by the door. I approached the chair, fell to my knees in front of the girl and laid my head on her lap. Daphne began to run her fingers through my hair, calming me and making me forget about the failed hunt.
"I agree to find out who you are," said the girl. Looking at her thoughts, I was completely satisfied. My aura had done its job, piquing the girl's interest. When I tell her everything, and if I don't like her thoughts, I can erase her memory and end her story...
"I'll invite you to visit me in the summer. There you will learn the truth. And you won't be the only one with me." The girl's hand trembled, but then continued to stroke me.
"In the past, powerful magicians did not limit themselves to one or two brides. That is why there were up to a hundred wizards in the Ancient Families. There used to be more than eighty wizards in the Black Family. But the Ministry of Magic began to eradicate ancient traditions, which led to the extinction of the Families. I... I don't mind.
The girl said, hugging me and stroking my head. I purred... How embarrassing!
During the trip, Daphne and I locked ourselves in a compartment, shielding ourselves with spells, and rode in silence, holding hands. Peace, calm and warmth. That's what I felt at that moment.
At the station, the girl was met by her father, and I was met by Lily.
"Aldwin, Mrs. Potter, it's good to see you," Edward greeted us. Lily just nodded, letting me do the talking.
"Hello, Edward, I wanted to ask your permission to let Daphne stay with us for a week.
"If Daphne doesn't mind, I don't," Edward said, smiling at his daughter.
Agreeing that I would pick her up at Diagon Alley two weeks before the end of the holidays, Lily and I headed home.
The house greeted me with snow-capped mountains and a thick, green forest. I remembered flying in Skyrim, walking among the mountains and forests. I remembered hunting and battles.
Stepping away from the house, holding Lily's hand, I became my true self. A dragon whose scales absorbed the sunlight. Now I was four metres tall and ten metres long. A joyful Dai, the size of a dog, flew out of the forest. He greeted me by shooting a stream of fire into the sky.
I approached Lily, who was frozen in place, bowing my head and offering her my wing so she could sit on my neck. She approached me in disbelief, stepping on my wing and climbing onto my neck, sitting between my bony ridges. She clung tightly to me, and we took off. A frightened, then joyful cry escaped the girl's lips.
"Now I understand why you don't like broomsticks! It's a completely different feeling!" Lily shouted through the headwind. I roared in agreement with Day.
We flew over snow-covered mountains and forests, almost touching their tops. I enjoyed the feeling of freedom and Lily's happiness.
In the evening, we sat by the lake. I lay in a crescent shape, shielding Lily from the wind with my body. She sat by the fire, roasting a rabbit that Dai had caught. The little dragon tried to catch fish near the shore.
The sun was already setting when Lily decided to break the silence.
"Aldi... What will happen next?" - Did you see how the dragon raised his eyebrows questioningly? We can do that too.
"What will happen when you bring real magic back to this world? What will happen to us? Will you leave?" - The girl's voice was sad.
She brought her head closer to Lily's. She placed her hand on my snout, stroking my hot scales.
"No. My flock won't be left without me, just as I can't be left without my flock. For many centuries, I carried out the Father's orders, which prevented me from enjoying my family. Now that I know what it feels like, I can't live any other way. I can create my own plan for Oblivion, or domain, as you call it. I'm not the weakest creature in the world after all." I said, laughing at the end.
"You are immortal, it's a pity I can't be with you longer...
"I think... Mum won't mind forgetting about my family, and therefore hers. She's kind, you'll get along. And youth... The healing magic in the dragon's paws can work wonders..." I said, exhaling a golden cloud that rushed into Lily's lower abdomen. I turned half human, leaving my horns, taller stature and scales on my elbows. I approached and hugged the girl from behind, kissing her neck...
Time passed, and I began to teach Lily true magic, which required no formulas, magic wands, or other crutches. All she needed to know was the essence of the power and safety precautions. Lily was a talented student, mastering beginner-level spells with great speed. I also began to explain the meaning of dragon words to her. Only by understanding the essence, meaning, and inner power of a word could a person speak the language of dragons.
Dai trained under my supervision. He learned to fly and hunt properly. Unfortunately, until magic returns here completely, dragons are unable to cry out. It is impossible to explain the essence to them as you would to a human. Magic gives them understanding on its own.
It was time to pick up Daphne. I moved to Diagon Alley and headed for the bookshop.
"Come closer, don't be shy! I am glad to welcome you all! Be sure to pick up my new book, Dragon's Lair, in which I lived for six months in the nest of the Sea Demon! I remember it as if it were yesterday...
There was a huge crowd of people outside the shop, all waiting for their turn, and Daphne was standing nearby. I walk over to her.
"Hi, Daphne. We're just getting ready to go back to school and can leave soon. Where's your father?
"Hi, Alduin, he went with Astoria to Ollivander's to get a magic wand." Hearing this, I laughed, but quickly regained my composure.
"I see Lockhart is actually going to be teaching DADA at our school. Shall we go get his books?
"You really want to buy those books?" asked the surprised girl.
"Well, yes, where else would I find such a funny book?! Well, listen for yourself: "Bunip threw a spear at me, aiming straight for my heart, but I deflected his spear with a spell and counterattacked with a sekou! The blood of the monster who lost his arm splattered on me. Tasting his sweet blood, I approached and ended the agony of the monster who had been terrorising the local villagers!"
"What's so funny?
"The fact that these creatures' blood is extremely poisonous. It causes madness that lasts a week, after which the person dies. Their blood isn't sweet, by the way, it's bland." The girl looked at me in surprise, not understanding where I knew all this from. You can't very well tell her that the mountains where Lily and I live used to be infested with these creatures and that I exterminated them all.
When we reached the shop and waited for our turn, Daphne and I approached Lockhart.
"Ah, students? I'd be happy to teach you how to fight the darkest creatures. Autograph? Who should I write it for?
"Aldwin Potter, sir, how did you survive in the sea demon's lair? It lives a couple of kilometres deep in the sea.
"That's a very good question! Let's take a photo for The Daily Prophet! Our photo will be on the front page! I can already see the headline... 'The Dark Lord's Victor and the Victor of the Cornish Nightmare finally meet! Two legends!'"
A wizard with a camera ran up to us and took a photo. Lockhart put his arm around my shoulder and smiled, while Daphne stood next to me with a frozen expression on her face.
"Thank you, sir... I'm sure you have a lot to teach us..." I said, stuffing all the books into my bottomless bag, taking the girl's hand and leaving the shop.
"Of course, Alduin! Always at your service... And who else has read as much as I have...
Daphne and I left the bookshop. I had a smile on my face, I guessed why we would have Lockhart as a teacher, he was definitely Dumbledore's type. Well, you have to arrange a personal life for the old man...
"Weasley... Aren't you ashamed? A pure-blood wizard, running after Muggle things! Unable to provide for his family... What's this? Well-used and torn books..." I looked over and saw a tall blond man, about thirty-five years old, standing next to the red-haired family, putting the books he had taken back into the red-haired girl's bag. Well, it was clear.
"Malfoy, my family doesn't need anything! We have everything we need. Have you managed to get rid of the dark artefacts yet? I heard the inspection almost caught you?" - The red-haired man replied.
I quickly led Daphne away from that place, not wanting to catch the eye of those people. It would be problematic to hide the bodies if they came after me.
After buying everything we needed, Daphne and I sat in a café and ate ice cream. The girl was clearly embarrassed. I cast a silence spell.
"Are you sure? You might hate me after you find out everything, your whole worldview might collapse." I warned her one last time. Daphne looked at me blankly but nodded.
"Then." I touched her hand, causing her to flinch. I touched the ring, and we dissolved into the air, transporting ourselves to my house.
The girl looked in amazement at the large, well-built house decorated with carvings. The golden tiles on the roof glistened in the sun. On either side of the house stood three small towers with gazebos on top.
"Welcome to my home. First, I must show you something.
We went into the forest, and Dai jumped out with a roar. He ran first to me, then to Daphne, licking her and waving his large tail. Daphne was surprised but smiled, stroking the little dragon.
I stepped back and, without a word, began to slowly transform into a dragon. Daphne watched in shock as my body grew larger and longer. My skin was replaced by black scales, my arms became paws and grew wings. My pupils narrowed and became even redder. A minute later, a mighty and powerful dragon stood before Daphne. The King of All Dragons.
The girl remained silent, not taking her eyes off me. I decided to test her stress level. I raised my head and exhaled an icy whirlwind. The girl cowered in fear when a magical ice storm swept four metres above her head. Snowflakes began to fall on her, but they melted before reaching her.
"I am Alduin! Devourer of Worlds, Scourge of Gods, Harbinger of War and Misfortune. Are you ready, Miss Green Grass, to live in the house of a dragon for two weeks?
"ALDUIN JAMES POTTER! Why are you scaring the girl? I didn't teach you that!" - Lily ran out of the house, waving a rolling pin sternly. It seemed she had decided to bake something for our guest.
"Ouch! That hurts!" - I said, rubbing the tip of my nose, which had been hit by the rolling pin held by a fragile female hand.
"You should have let me explain everything to her first, but the Ancient Dragon knows better, now I have to calm the girl down!
"RrrrRr Ouch! I understand, I understand!" - I admitted defeat, receiving another blow to the nose with the rolling pin! My scales had never been pierced by catapults, arrows or swords, but here, strangely, I could feel the pain from this piece of wood! Where is the logic in this, Mother?
Lily took Daphne by the hand and led her into the house. I didn't see horror in the girl's eyes, but rather confusion and... anticipation?
POV Daphne
I sat and listened to what Alduin's mother was telling me. At first, I thought she was a dragon too, but she said she was human. Then she explained how they had lived here all this time and that Alduin was the reincarnated soul of the Ancient Dragon. I felt like something was missing, but this information was enough for me. Now I understood why Al had asked me so often and so insistently if I wanted to know who he was.
I was in shock; it's not every day that the guy you like turns out to be the Dragonborn. Yes, I admitted to myself that I liked Alduin. Now that feeling had even grown stronger. What girl hasn't dreamed of being kidnapped by a dragon and then rescued by a prince? And here I had both a dragon and a prince in one person. The novels I borrowed from my mother described similar situations, but not quite the same.
I was surprised by Lily's confession that she was with Alduin... But he had warned her, and it's hard to call her the mother of such a creature. Lily just laughed and agreed with my thoughts.
Despite everything, I was drawn to Alduin, even though I knew his true nature. I remembered how Al had helped me and my family, how he had stood in the way of the Dark Lord's avada, which was flying at me. Feeling protected by the Dragon was nice, but I also understood that I couldn't tell anyone about Alduin, not even my father. If Al decided to, he would tell them himself.
When Lily and I were drinking tea, Alduin entered the room. I felt myself blushing and lowered my face, covering it with my hair.
"Hmm, I'm glad I wasn't wrong about you." Alduin came over and hugged me. I breathed in his scent: honey, blood, and the smell of ash and soot. It was pleasant.
The next two weeks were the best of my life. Alduin, transforming into a dragon, allowed me to climb onto his back, and we flew through the sky. I had never experienced such excitement and freedom. And knowing and feeling that you are sitting on a mighty creature is indescribable. I saw and felt his muscles move, his scales rub against each other, and I felt his breath.
Alduin taught me magic every day and trained me in it. He told me about the Dragon Language, which can change the laws of the world to suit you. He made me a bracelet that protects my mind and reacts to poisons. I understood why he wasn't stingy with money. He can just create tons of it! And it's real gold, not magical!
Every time he took my hand, I felt a rush of heat, and when he hugged me during training, I started to feel embarrassed. Tomorrow we're leaving for school, and I've been thinking a lot about what happened. I don't regret it, I'm happy. I couldn't sleep because of my thoughts and memories. Getting up, I went to Alduin's room.
He was lying in a huge bed, hugging Lily. They were covered with a blue silk blanket. Embarrassed, I lay down uncertainly on the bed, and before I could understand what was happening, Alduin confidently pulled me into his arms and kissed me on the forehead.
"You are part of my pack, which is like family. Be loyal to your family, and your family will never abandon you.
Warmth, peace and security, I fell asleep with a smile on the shoulder of the Dragon King...
