Luo Huian stared at the mer in front of her. While Wei Yucheng stared right back. She thought that the mer would flinch and change his words under her glare but she had to admit that he was one tough guy. He simply smiled at her and repeated while looking her in the eye, "I said that if you give me a kiss, then I will push Miss You's application to the front. She will be admitted and accepted into the weapon-making department and you won't have to worry about anything."

Once he finished speaking, Luo Huian raised her head and gave him a glare. It was quite certainly clear that Wei Yucheng was not willing to step back, as even when she glared at him, the mer continued to look at her with a smile on his face.

Seeing this, Luo Huian rolled her eyes and snapped, "How about I wring your head off your shoulders?"

"It's not going to help you." Wei Yucheng shook his head and stated in a calm voice, "Do you think that you can just put a request forward and let Miss You be accepted in the weapon department? Then you are wrong. Miss Luo, the weapon department has one of the most crucial roles in the guild and there is no way that just a nobody would be allowed to enter that department."

"You Ruojin is not a nobody." Luo Huian narrowed her eyes. Even though You Ruojin had not spent much time with her, Luo Huian took that woman as her friend. It was quite disrespectful of Wei Yucheng to say that she was actually a nobody.

When Wei Yucheng heard her say those words, he curled his lips. He said to her in a quiet voice, "I understand that you are protective of her but is there a point in saying these things to me, Miss Luo? Like I said, people believe what they see. Miss You don't have those skills you are talking about. So I am afraid that this little request that you have put forth cannot be dealt with at the moment."

Luo Huian stared at Wei Yucheng. Though she would have loved to throw some really nice words at the mer, she knew that there was no point. The mer had more power than she would have liked to admit and it could be seen that if she didn't let him help You Ruojin, she was worried that the woman would never be given a chance to awaken her skills.

She pursed her lips and glared at the mer with a hint of anger in her eyes.

"So… what —"

Wei Yucheng had not even finished what he was going to say when suddenly Luo Huian reached out and grabbed him by his collar. She pulled him towards her and before he could understand what was going on, Luo Huian pressed her lips against his.

The second their lips met, Wei Yucheng felt as if his entire mind had exploded. All sorts and myriads of thoughts came to flash in his mind. He knew that Luo Huian's touch would be his end. But he never thought that it would be such a beautiful end.

As soon as her lips met his, Wei Yucheng felt that his world was two shades brighter.

The soft touch of her lips and the warm breath that brushed against his cheeks made Wei Yucheng curl his toes in desire and delight. Before he thought that taking birth as a mer was nothing but foolish, but now that he had Luo Huian—Wei Yucheng couldn't help but think that there was nothing wrong with being able to give birth.

If it was Luo Huian, he could give birth to an army of children.

"There." Luo Huian pulled away; she was glaring at him as she said to him, "Happy now? Is this enough of a bribe for you to let You Ruojin inside the weapon department now?" She had never once thought that she would have to one day stoop so low that she would have to sell her body. But then again, there was no point in trying to fight with Wei Yucheng.

Having lived in this place for more than just a few days, Luo Huian knew that this world was all about power play. "Of course," Wei Yucheng smiled at the woman with a hint of smugness. He said to her, "Since you are so sincere, how can I not help you?"

Luo Huian simply glared at the mer before turning around and heading out of the office. Once she was gone, Wei Yucheng smiled and touched his lips. He raised his hand and touched his lips. Those soft petals were gone but he could still feel the warmth against his lips.

The lingering warmth was enough to let him sleep with a grin for days.

Luo Huian, on the other hand, stormed past the corridor. Maybe her expression was too vividly furious but no one dared to come close to her and Luo Huian didn't blame them, she too knew that she was in no condition to talk with anyone.

She remained in the same stance till she reached home.

"Huian?"

Luo Huian paused and turned to look at the mer on the wheelchair. She smiled softly at him when she saw Qi Yongrui looking at her with a hint of confusion in his green eyes.

"Did something happen?" he asked while holding a little chick in his hands. A few days ago, the therapist who was now in charge of treating Qi Yongrui told them that the poor mer was suffering from bulimia. Luo Huian didn't grow up in the human world but from the twisted look in the eyes of her dad, she knew that it was nothing good.

A little research and Luo Huian found out that Qi Yongrui was suffering quite a lot.

He was still not willing to talk about what happened to him and the therapist let them know that even if he did, she would not tell anything to them. Something about it being a matter of secrecy and trust between the doctor and the patient.

Luo Huian didn't even want to start on it yet, fortunately, the therapist was willing to let them know how to help Qi Yongrui and asked them to bring a little pet for him. She asked them to keep him busy and move around a lot while making him feel happy.

Thus, she brought the little chick for Qi Yongrui to play with for a while.

"Nothing," she replied. She didn't want Qi Yongrui to feel upset when the mer was already battling enough struggles on his own. She said to him, "Did you eat today?"

When Qi Yongrui heard her question, he sighed heavily for this had become a norm for the two of them. He nodded and said, "I did eat a toast."

Luo Huian wanted to say that it was not much when he was all skin and bones but then she recalled what the therapist said to her and she swallowed her words down. She nodded and said to him, "I see. You have done a really good job."

Qi Yongrui flashed her a smile as he softly rubbed the head of the chick with his finger. He asked, "Are you free this sunday? My therapist asked me to go on a picnic. However, its a bit too troublesome for me to do it. So, if you don't mind—"

"Sure." Luo Huian felt guilty when she heard Qi Yongrui request her for something so small. If not for her careless confidence, he wouldn't have to rely on anyone. She took his free hand in hers and patted it lightly. "I will come with you. Where do you want to go?"

"Not too far from here," said Qi Yongrui with a smile on his face. "I have this small farmhouse which is in the countryside. It was something that I purchased after I saved enough money to buy a place for myself."

When Luo Huian saw the wistful and proud look on his face, she knew how much this little countryside house meant to Qi Yongrui. She nodded and said to him, "I see. Then we will prepare to go there this weekend."

"Where are you going?"

The two of them turned to look at Fan Meilin, who was sporting a black windbreaker, trousers and a matching shirt with silver earrings dangling from his ears. He looked like one of those bad mers whom Luo Huian had seen on the streets.

He walked over to where the two of them were standing and said to Luo Huian, "Where are you going?" he turned to look at Qi Yongrui and asked, "Can I come?"
