Genshin Impact: Selling Pokemons in Teyvat

Chapter 20: Chapter 20

"Zhongli, Zhongli, come quick! Look at my new pet!"

Hu Tao shouted as she rushed into the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Litwick stood on top of her head, its tiny hands desperately clutching her hair to keep from falling off.

The employees of the funeral parlor watched their director's energetic antics and smiled helplessly, already accustomed to her lively personality.

As soon as she entered, Hu Tao saw a tall figure sitting in the courtyard, leisurely sipping tea.

This was Zhongli, the consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Despite his youthful appearance, he carried himself with the demeanor of an old man, as if he had aged prematurely. Because of his serious nature, Hu Tao loved to tease him, though she had yet to succeed.

The moment she saw Zhongli, Hu Tao's eyes curved into mischievous crescents. She quietly approached him and, seeing that he didn't react, slapped his shoulder hard.

"Ouch!"

But the pain made Hu Tao tear up as she clutched her hand. His shoulder was as hard as stone, and her hand was now red.

"Ah, Director Hu. What brings you here?"

Zhongli turned around and calmly looked at Hu Tao. Even though he was just sitting on a stool, his upright posture made him seem like an unshakable mountain.

"Zhongli, look! My new pet!"

The pain was like a passing thunderstorm—it came and went quickly. Soon, Hu Tao had completely recovered and was grinning as she pointed to the Litwick on her head.

Zhongli, however, simply picked up his teacup and took a sip, not particularly concerned.

After all, it wasn't strange for Hu Tao to do anything.

She had even once treated the two stone lions in front of the Ministry of Civil Affairs as pets, chatting with them and feeding them.

So, her having a burning candle as a pet wasn't too hard to accept.

Seeing that Zhongli remained unfazed, Hu Tao puffed out her cheeks in frustration and took Litwick off her head.

"Litwick, this is Zhongli. Go on, say hello!"

"Wick~"

Hearing this, Litwick obediently waved at Zhongli, letting out a soft, sweet cry.

At this sight, Zhongli's hand trembled slightly, nearly spilling the tea in his cup.

But he quickly regained his composure, his narrow phoenix eyes studying Litwick for a moment before looking away.

"Hmph, what do you think, Zhongli? You've never seen a Litwick before, have you?"

Seeing Zhongli's surprise, Hu Tao proudly put her hands on her hips.

Zhongli took another sip of tea.

"From a rational perspective, this creature does not seem to be native to Teyvat."

Zhongli wasn't entirely sure what Litwick was.

It could be considered a spirit, but it could also exist for a long time.

Yet, the aura of death around it was undeniable.

Such a contradictory creature was something he had never seen or heard of in his long life.

"Hmph, you're so clueless. Litwick is a Pokémon I bought from Pokémon Home. From now on, it's my companion, and I've decided to make it the mascot of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor! Every tombstone and coffin we sell from now on will have Litwick's image on it!"

The idea of a mascot came to Hu Tao after seeing the white and gold Arceus in Li Pan's shop. The more she thought about it, the more she felt it was a genius idea.

With Litwick's image on them, everyone would immediately recognize the coffins sold by the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. What great publicity!

Hearing Hu Tao's brilliant idea, Zhongli's eyebrow twitched. He wanted to stop her, but after some thought, he decided against it.

"But… Pokémon from Pokémon Home, huh…"

Muttering the name Hu Tao had just mentioned, Zhongli's eyes narrowed slightly.

Perhaps it's worth taking a look.

…

"Welcome! I'm Li Pan, the owner of Pokémon Home."

At that moment, in Pokémon Home, Li Pan smiled at the young man, or was it a young woman?—standing before him.

The visitor wore an elegant blue robe, with delicate, androgynous features.

They wore shorts, revealing long, fair legs, and a ancient sword hung at their waist, adding a touch of heroism to their delicate appearance.

Li Pan was no stranger to this person. This was Xingqiu, the second young master of the Feiyun Commerce Guild, known in the game as the "Six-Star Hydro Archon" for their ability to apply Hydro, reduce damage, heal, deal damage, and recharge energy—a true all-rounder.

Most importantly, this person was loaded. The Feiyun Commerce Guild was one of the top guilds in Liyue, and as the second young master, Mora was just a boring number to Xingqiu.

Xingqiu walked into the shop, curiously examining everything inside.

"What can I do for you?"

When Li Pan asked a second time, Xingqiu finally snapped out of their thoughts.

"Oh, Boss Li, hello. I'm Xingqiu. I was wondering if Lady Ningguang's… uh… that… uh…"

"Larvitar?"

"Yes, Larvitar! Was it bought from your shop?"

Xingqiu inquired.

As the Tianquan of Liyue, Ningguang was not only the embodiment of the law but also the embodiment of wealth. Her every move was closely watched by other merchants.

In their eyes, Ningguang was like a money-making machine that never made mistakes. As long as you followed her lead, even a fool could make money.

Even the slightest bit of information about her could cause a stir in the business world.

The fact that Ningguang had spent 100 million Mora at this shop to buy a small creature called Larvitar had already been discovered by well-informed merchants.

Over the years, Ningguang's image as someone who never lost money had become deeply ingrained in people's minds.

Now, merchants big and small were in an uproar, desperately trying to find out what Pokémon Home was all about.

But strangely, they couldn't find any useful information, not even what the shop sold.

In fact, it would've been strange if they could find anything.

Li Pan had only been in this world for less than a week, how could they possibly find anything about him?

Moreover, most of the Pokémon Li Pan had sold were in the Ministry of Civil Affairs, a place known for its tight-lipped nature. It wasn't going to be easy to get information from there.

"Yes, Mr. Xingqiu. Are you here to buy a Pokémon?"

Li Pan handed over the Pokédex.

"Pokémon? You mean Lady Ningguang's Larvitar?"

Xingqiu scratched his head, confused about how things had turned out this way.

He had only come here at his father's request to gather some information.

How had it turned into a discussion about buying Pokémon?

"No, Mr. Xingqiu. Larvitar is one type of Pokémon, but not all Pokémon are Larvitar. There are currently 905 known species of Pokémon, and Larvitar is just one of them."

Li Pan smiled, correcting the mistake in Xingqiu's words.
