Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Blood of Chi Transforms (Part 2)
The familiar bark struck Yan Bang's mind like a bolt of lightning.
"Lillipup?!"
Yan Bang's heart skipped a beat, and he forced his eyes open with a surge of strength he didn't know he had.
It was Lillipup!
The small dog, which he had only ever treated as a tracking hound, now displayed strength that completely defied its size.
Its petite body pinned the evil Chi to the ground, and the terrifying force made it impossible for the beast to break free. Lillipup opened its mouth wide, aiming for the Chi's throat.
Sharp teeth glinted with dark, malevolent energy.
Dark-type move: Bite!
An alien energy, never before seen in Teyvat, corroded and tore into the Chi's body without restraint.
Roar!!!
The Chi struggled weakly, but it was useless.
The violent, insidious dark-type energy was like the deadliest poison to it.
The wails grew weaker and weaker until, finally, a crisp sound echoed through the cave.
The Chi's body exploded into a mist of water.
At the center of the mist was a drop of deep blue blood, writhing and absorbing the surrounding water vapor.
It wouldn't be long before it reformed into another Chi beast.
"Cough… cough… That drop of blood is the key to that Chi beast. Have any of you heard of something like this?"
The moment the Chi beast died, the floodwaters that had filled the cave receded. Yan Bang coughed a few times, spitting out the water in his mouth, and then looked at his comrades.
"Cough… No… no idea. Never heard of anything like this."
Fu Bin, who had been playing the hero earlier, now lay on the ground like a dead dog, his face serene.
"Cough… Hahaha… cough… cough… You little brat, trying to act tough. You don't even know your own limits. If you dare pull something like this again, I'll break your legs for your dad."
Fu Bin's state made Yan Bang laugh. He kicked Fu Bin's butt hard, scolding him with a smile.
"Bang, look at Lillipup! Something's wrong!"
At that moment, another Millelith soldier pointed at Lillipup and shouted.
Yan Bang's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately turned to look.
After this battle, he had come to see Lillipup as an incredibly important companion. If something was wrong with it, how could he not worry?
Lillipup's body was now enveloped in a white light, which stretched and expanded around it.
The group exchanged glances but could do nothing but watch anxiously.
The next moment, the white light dissipated, revealing a large dog that bore some resemblance to Lillipup.
This large dog had long black fur on its back, while its head, belly, and limbs were covered in brown fur. It looked as if it were wearing a black coat. Its mouth was adorned with white, beard-like fur, giving it an air of dignity.
"This is…"
Yan Bang was stunned for a moment but quickly pulled out his Pokédex and scanned the large dog.
Somehow, this thing was still working despite being submerged in water for so long.
Beep!
[Herdier]
Type: Normal
Level: 16
Ability: Sand Rush (Speed doubles in a sandstorm.)
The Loyal Dog Pokémon. Lillipup's evolved form. The black fur covering its body is as hard as a cloak, reducing damage taken.
Moves: Tackle, Leer, Bite, Work Up, Retaliate
"Herdier, Lillipup's evolved form?"
The information from the Pokédex left Yan Bang momentarily speechless.
"So this is what Boss Li meant by evolution? Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable."
Yan Bang hadn't understood why Li Pan had said Pokémon evolution was a transformation, but now he got it.
Good grief, Lillipup had only been as tall as his calf, but after evolving into Herdier, it had shot up to nearly a meter tall. And this growth had happened in an instant, completely defying the laws of nature!
"It's fine. My Lillipup has evolved. Now it's called Herdier."
Seeing the concerned looks from his comrades, Yan Bang proudly explained.
"Alright, let's not ask any more questions for now. Let's get out of here, take this blood back, and deal with the rest later."
Seeing that they still wanted to ask more questions, Yan Bang quickly cut them off. He found a bottle, scooped up the drop of blood floating in the air, and helped the others leave.
If he wasn't mistaken, this drop of blood was likely one of the reasons for the anomaly in Qingce Village.
…
Not long after they left, deep within the underground cave.
This was a hollow space.
Despite being underground and almost completely submerged in water, the area was bone-dry, the kind of dryness that could crack skin.
In the center of the hollow stood several massive stone pillars, engraved with intricate golden patterns. This was a seal, one laid down by a god.
At the center of the seal was a dried-up head.
The head was dragon-like but lacked horns. The wound on its neck was jagged, as if it had been torn off by some immense force. The severed end was now dried up, almost like jerky.
By all logic, this thing should have been long dead.
But the back half of the head had been stitched to an equally dried-up heart. The severed blood vessels between the heart and the head had been replaced with plastic tubes, with stitch marks at the connection points.
The dried-up heart was still beating, laboriously producing deep blue blood. If Yan Bang and the others had been here, they would have immediately recognized it.
This was Chi!
The real Chi, sealed here by the Geo Archon!
Chi possessed terrifying immortality. Even the Geo Archon couldn't completely kill it and had to resort to splitting and sealing it to suppress it beneath Qingce Village. But now, two of its severed body parts had been reunited.
This long-dried body had reignited the spark of life.
Suddenly, Chi's head twitched slightly, and its tired eyelids opened, revealing shriveled eyeballs.
"My blood has been taken out. Your plan can begin. Remember to keep your promise."
A hoarse voice echoed through the hollow. A Pyro Abyss Mage floated out of the darkness.
"Very well, respected Chi. We will keep our promise. We will find your body parts and bring them to you."
The Abyss Mage bowed, performing an ancient gesture of respect. But Chi didn't notice the insane smile on the mage's lowered face.
We will bring you your body, but… what we need is your loyalty.
