Chapter 275: Too Strong
Su Yan held Kagura's scabbard in one hand and smiled lightly.
Announcer: "Is Fairy Tail's Su Yan really planning to duel Kagura with her own scabbard?!"
In the magical world, the mightiest wizards seldom wield weapons—magic itself is all the armament they need. Everyone wondered: Su Yan is already fearsome with bare hands, but can he truly fight with a sword? And why use only the scabbard, while Kagura wields a genuine blade?
Kagura's eyes narrowed. "You intend to fight me with nothing but a scabbard?"
Su Yan shrugged. "It's simply more convenient."
"Very well," Kagura replied, drawing her blade.
"Behold the Heavenly Slash Form!" she roared, unleashing a blistering arc of energy that cleaved through nearby lamp-posts.
Su Yan raised the scabbard and met her attack.
Boom—boom!
Kagura's slash shattered against the scabbard as if it were steel.
Spectator: "Kagura's Heavenly Slash has been split in two—by a mere scabbard!"
Onlookers murmured in astonishment, but Fairy Tail knew Su Yan's strength well. As the dust settled, Kagura noticed a faint black sheen coating the scabbard—almost invisible against its dark surface.
Su Yan gripped it a moment, then said, "It feels… oddly comfortable."
He launched himself at Kagura, scabbard sweeping in a vicious arc. She countered, their clashing energies carving deep creases into the surrounding buildings.
All across the arena, other matches ignited:
Natsu vs. Leon: Old rivals from Galuna Island clashed in a battle of fire and ice—each eager to test whose element would triumph.
Erza vs. Sherry: Though Sherry once healed Lucy, here they fought without mercy, each hungry for points.
Laxus vs. Jura: Taking Su Yan's strategy to heart, Laxus freely chose his opponent—no guild politics, just raw strength.
Gajeel vs. Rogue: Gajeel raged, "Where are all these bastards?!" only for Rogue to appear at his side. "Ready when you are," Rogue smirked.
Announcer: "Now everyone has found their opponents… except the four members of Sabertooth. Their magic-crystal cameras can't even find them!"
Meanwhile, hidden in a backstreet, the four Tiger members gathered.
"Rogue's off looking for Gajeel again," Orga observed.
"Some things never change," Rufus sighed.
Minerva smiled. "It's just the four of us—and everything's going according to plan. Sting, do you understand what's at stake?"
Sting raised his head, grave. "I will win. Please keep your promise."
"Of course," Minerva whispered.
They remembered two nights ago, when the guild's kitten Lector disappeared. Sting, enraged, challenged Jiemma and won. Minerva then banished Jiemma from Sabertooth and revealed Lector was safe—in her own secret space. But she warned Sting: if he failed to secure the final victory in the Great Demon Fight, he would never see Lector again.
Back in the arena, Kagura pressed her assault. "Feel the Cross Slash of Heavenly Judgment!" she cried, sweeping a cross-shaped wave of energy at Su Yan.
Su Yan spun the scabbard, shattering every blade of magic.
"Gravity Suppression!" Kagura shouted, summoning a violet magic circle overhead that pressed down on Su Yan with crushing force. The earth around him cracked under the weight.
Yet Su Yan's aura flared even brighter. He swept the scabbard in a single decisive strike toward the sky.
Crack!
Red-black lightning cleaved the magic circle in two.
Kagura staggered back, eyes wide. "How… how is that possible?!"
She had been warned by Millianna that Su Yan was a monster of power—but to overcome her greatest techniques so utterly…
And still, the outcome remained undecided. Yet all who watched knew one thing for certain: Su Yan's strength had shattered every expectation.
