Chapter 273: The Last Day
Erza surveyed the arena and announced, "The score is sitting at ninety points. The organizers may raise it to give the last-place guild a fighting chance, but if we want to lock in our victory, we'll need another twenty points at least. Don't expect the other guilds to stand idly by."
Su Yan gave a confident smile. "Relax. Spread out, find an opponent, and leave the scoring to me."
Gajeel grinned. "With you on the job, I'm not worried."
Natsu's eyes sparkled as he bounded forward. "Okay! I'm off to challenge the strongest!"
"Fire Dragon, you bastard! Let's see which of us racks up more points!" called his rival.
"Bring it on!" Natsu shot back, and the rest of Fairy Tail fanned out across the field.
Meanwhile, Yuka and Toby of the Scales of the Serpent moved together to corner Nobarly, who'd been left alone by Quatro Cerberus.
"Quick—seal his magic!" Yuka cried.
With a flick of her hand, he blocked Nobarly's spell, and Toby charged in, knocking him to the ground.
"Duo attack!" the announcer cried. "Scales of the Serpent gain two points—tied with Blue Pegasus at thirty-two."
Up on the scoreboard, Hibiki saw that Blue Pegasus's trio had clashed with Beth and Araña of Mermaid Heel. Under the assault of Ivan and Lian, Blue Pegasus netted four points, climbing to thirty-six and overtaking Sabertooth into third place.
But Leon and Ra of Quatro Cerberus each toppled a Blue Pegasus member, pulling their guild back into a three-way tie for third—Sabertooth dropping to fourth.
"Even if we can't catch Fairy Tail, let's take every point we can from the others and claim the Grand Demon Fighting crown!" one Cerberus member roared.
"Let's go!" Yuka and Toby sprinted off in search of their next targets.
From above, Sting dropped in—fists first—flattening Bacchus of Quatro Cerberus into the ground and shattering the surrounding rock.
"It's Sting!" came the shout.
Announcer: "Defeat the Cerberus captain and earn ten points—you jump to second place instantly!"
Sabertooth's score leapt from thirty-five to forty-five, vaulting past Mermaid Heel.
"Finish him! It's two-on-one—we'll take him down together!" Yuka and Toby charged, but before they could land a blow, Kagura of Mermaid Heel appeared behind them and incapacitated them both with a single strike.
Announcer: "Kagura appears—Mermaid Heel gains four points, now at forty-four, just below Sword-Biting Tiger."
Millianna then felled Quatro Cerberus's last Rocker, pushing Mermaid Heel to forty-six and reclaiming third place.
Jabaddi, the commentator, exclaimed, "Whether it's mermaids or snake-girls, everyone's giving it their all to catch up!"
Yakima replied, "Can Quatro Cerberus really fall apart like this?"
Jabaddi sighed, "But hasn't Fairy Tail scored yet?"
Yakima huffed, "Bad luck—nobody's crossed their path so far."
In Fairy Tail's corner, Makarov was furious. "What exactly is that stinky kid Su Yan doing? Turn every opponent into dust—kill them all! For my thirty million… no, for victory!"
Under Su Yan's gaze, opponents froze wherever they were. First-generation Mavis laughed softly, "Relax, Third Generation—our lead holds."
Suddenly, Sabertooth's score rocketed: forty-five jumped to fifty-five, then to sixty-one almost at once.
Announcer: "Unbelievable! Sabertooth ties Fairy Tail for first place! What just happened?!"
Announcer: "It's Blue Pegasus! Captain Yi Ye, Hibiki, Ivan, and Lian all fell to Sword-Biting Tiger members—what a turnaround!"
Minerva of Sabertooth smiled at Su Yan. "You came to face me personally? Looking for revenge for your guildmates?"
Laxus chuckled in Su Yan's wake, "Our general's generosity has always been… limited."
Su Yan didn't answer. The Overlord aura flared around him, crackling with power.
With a roar, he charged Minerva head-on. She threw up her palm. "Space Guardian!"
The blast collided with her barrier with an earth-shaking boom.
Minerva let out a triumphant laugh—until Su Yan vanished from view and reappeared right beside her, fist cocked.
Her Space Guardian shattered with a crack.
"My space… it can't—" she gasped as Su Yan's blow sent her crashing through a wall. Light warped around her, and she attempted to teleport away.
"Running?" Su Yan's voice dripped with amusement as his eyes glowed red. "You can't escape me."
And with that, Su Yan pressed the attack.
