Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi

Chapter 389: Second Meeting with the Upper Levels (2)

Walking through the Transmission Port, everyone indeed found themselves standing on a wide road.

Beside the road was a typical military-style rear town, and they stood at the entrance of the town, with a tall number sign standing next to them.

It read "Town No. 2".

The three vice ministers had come prepared this time, and the secretaries were holding laptops, with screens displaying archived photos from when the town was built.

Ye Nai did not step forward, so she didn't know what they were comparing, but those were undoubtedly archive photos, as they themselves said so.

"This really is the East Ridge Secret Realm," Vice Minister Su and Vice Minister Cheng couldn't help but exclaim softly.

Fan Zeyang laughed heartily, "I told you I wasn't lying. Now do you believe it?"

"Ms. Ye Nai, can the Transmission Port of the East Ridge Secret Realm be restored?" Vice Minister Su turned to ask Ye Nai.

"Restored meaning, set up a long-term stable Transmission Port?"

"Yes, but not as large as the current Secret Realm entrances."

"Hmm, that's two issues. The first one, yes, we can reopen the entrance to the East Ridge Secret Realm. The second one, there are other reasons for the current Secret Realm entrances being so large."

"Oh, what reasons?"

Ye Nai extended her hand, "I just earned enough points to reach Copper Level, still a long way to Silver Level and its million points, information isn't free."

Vice Minister Su of the Staff Department smiled and asked, "Just points?"

Ye Nai nodded, "Points are hard to earn, money is easy."

Making money wasn't difficult for Ye Nai now; not mentioning her savings in the tens of millions, even casually selling some of her resources brought in a flood of cash.

Making money was indeed no big deal; points were the real challenge.

"Alright then, I won't ask anymore. The list for exchanging information for points is being drafted; it will take some time," Vice Minister Su tactfully concluded the topic.

"No problem, take your time. Whenever you're ready, we'll discuss our collaboration."

"Collaboration, huh?" Vice Minister Su raised an eyebrow slightly.

"What else?" Ye Nai responded naturally, finding the question odd.

"Alright, collaboration it is. Here's to our successful partnership," Vice Minister Su nodded knowingly and extended a hand.

"A successful partnership," Ye Nai slowly extended her hand to shake hers, and then didn't let go, "Are you representing yourself or your department? Can you decide now?"

Vice Minister Su couldn't smile anymore, adopting a serious expression and nodding sincerely.

"I can."

Simultaneously, Vice Minister Su's secretary, who had been following closely, took an official envelope marked with the Staff Department's name from his pocket and handed it to his superior.

Vice Minister Su then handed the envelope to Ye Nai.

"This is an authorization letter from our Staff Department, signed by the minister. I fully represent the entire Staff Department in collaboration with you."

"We brought ours too."

As he spoke, Vice Minister Cheng of the Logistics Department and Vice Minister Fan of the Combat Department both produced an official envelope.

Ye Nai took each envelope one by one, each thick and firm, and she could even feel that the paper inside was of a similar material.

"Mind if I open them to take a look?"

"Not at all; please go ahead."

"Then let's take this chance to have a rest, have some tea."

Ye Nai first set up a small apricot-colored awning, then took out tables and chairs and a tea cart from the underground storage, and everyone casually found seats and prepared tea.

Ye Nai neatly opened each of the three envelopes with an art knife, extracting a piece of official stationery with anti-counterfeit patterns from each. At the top of each was a prominent red header, followed by the main content of the authorization letter, and at the bottom were the personal signatures of the heads of each department, dated the day before.

Ye Nai carefully reviewed each document, then placed them back into their envelopes and stored them in her space, using the fungus to form a shelf in the compartment for her personal items, where she placed these three envelopes.

In truth, she couldn't verify the authenticity of these authorization letters, nor was she required to.

Because this meeting was within a military camp, it was impossible for a fake general to come with fake authorization letters to deceive her. That would undermine Camp Commander Lin's authority, as entry identity checks wouldn't even pass.

If someone managed to deceive the camp gate, it would mean the military and government were unstable, and the battle would already be lost, with the enemy achieving final victory.

A true general with fake authorization letters was even less likely; if the general were real and the authorization fake, the blame would fall on the general. Having achieved the status of a general, who would take such a risk?

So, the authorization letters were definitely genuine.

"Alright, everything checks out. After drinking your tea, where do you all plan to go?" Ye Nai sipped her hot tea, her eyes sweeping over the group.

"I heard you are farming in this Secret Realm. Can we see your fields?" Vice Minister Su asked eagerly.

"The chilies and corn you took last time, you don't believe they grew in the Secret Realm?" Ye Nai raised an eyebrow slightly, though she didn't find it surprising. Seeing is believing; it's normal not to believe without seeing.

"Those were handed over to the agronomists for research. Their preliminary feedback is that the corn does have a weak energy reaction, but the chilies don't. However, our Vice Minister Fan swore he watched you grow them," Vice Minister Cheng said, spreading his hands slightly in a serious manner, but with a teasing tone.

"Yes, that's the difference between natural growth and forced growth. Forced growth doesn't have the accumulation of time, so it lacks energy. You can still eat them just the same, no difference there." Ye Nai nodded, explaining.

"That makes sense now," everyone nodded in understanding.

"After handing them in, the academics phoned the Combat Department every two hours, wanting to know who grew them and to see the fields," Fan Zeyang remarked, laughing.

Even though the academics' calls every two hours had stressed out the Combat Department, the fact that farming was possible in the Secret Realm was indeed great news. Anyone knowing about this couldn't help but get excited; it was natural human emotion, easy to understand.

"The corn has already been harvested, and the remaining stalks have been returned to the fields. There's nothing to see," Ye Nai spread her hands, speaking honestly.

"Do they just leave the fields empty after harvesting, without planting again?" the secretary of Vice Minister Cheng asked, his laptop screen glowing in front of him. Naturally, the Logistics Department was concerned about agricultural matters.

"No, they need to be rotated. I've planted radishes, cabbages, and spinach in newly cultivated fields for autumn and winter vegetables," Ye Nai replied, shaking her head.

"Have you already planted several seasons? How did you discover the need for rotation?" the person continued to ask, eyes filled with curiosity.

"Just need one wave of forced growth vegetables to know: after harvesting, you can't use the same spot again. Move to the side and it's fine. But with forced growth, time is greatly shortened, so you can't rotate fields for forced growth vegetables easily. It's best to leave it for emergencies and let crops grow naturally according to their own cycles otherwise," Ye Nai explained patiently.

"Got it, that makes sense," everyone nodded in sudden realization.
