Chapter 388: Second Meeting with the Upper Levels (1)
Ye Nai had scrolled through the online discussions and felt the hostility this time was much better than last time. Previously, it was complete chaos, with too many envious people, and the Awakener Center even called to add to the mess, scolding them wasn't unjustified at all.
Putting down her phone, Ye Nai stepped into the East Ridge Secret Realm to deliver a batch of food to her captives everywhere, telling them that her superiors already knew of their existence and that someone would come to take over managing them, so they should prepare mentally in advance.
The civilians led by Fro nodded obediently, even worried about whether they'd still enjoy their current good days once management changed.
The former nobles and former officers were also polite, at least on the surface they expressed thanks, but the wizards seemed lost in thought. When Ye Nai spoke with them, they didn't even show a perfunctory attitude. Anyway, they usually acted indifferently towards everyone, and staying with Fro and the group of civilians meant they were still being waited on, keeping their spirits high was understandable.
Anyway, political work cadres will manage them in the future, let's see if they can withstand endless ideological education and self-criticism.
Returning to her guest room at the inn, Ye Nai checked the time and felt it was about time for lunch.
She was about to pick up her phone to ask the neighbor if they wanted to join her for the takeout she bought last night when suddenly her phone buzzed, and a message popped up.
The sender was none other than Qin Rui.
[Ms. Ye Nai, a message has come from above, prepare to arrange a second meeting, again you decide the date and time.]
Ye Nai swiftly and efficiently tapped the screen of her phone, quickly replying.
[Did the message say anything else? Do we know who's attending?]
[No mention of attendees, just a hope that the location remains the same, the underground warehouse as last time.]
[Okay, any time is fine, this afternoon works.]
Qin Rui was silent for a while, as Ye Nai found a bowl of takeout and ate half of it, only then did his reply come through again.
[This afternoon is fine.]
[Alright, tell them we'll meet at 2 PM in the underground warehouse.]
[Got it. Then I'll prepare the car.]
[No need, let's go straight, or do you have to perform the whole process of driving out the door?]
[No, not necessary.]
[That's settled then.]
[I'm afraid I'll scare someone.]
[You won't. In the last meeting, you and Camp Commander Lin's staff were above ground, but after that meeting, he should know what happened, even if we suddenly appear it won't shock him. Besides, I won't rush in recklessly, I'll observingly assess the situation first.]
[Alright then.]
[Alright, gather in my room at five minutes to two, we'll do it in one go.]
[Yes.]
Ye Nai finished the remaining takeout, washed her face, and took a nap, and at six minutes to two, Ye Nai gradually opened the portal to the warehouse.
As soon as the portal stabilized, before Ye Nai had a chance to step through, she saw a head peek through.
It turned out to be Camp Commander Lin's advisor.
The advisor widened his eyes and quickly covered his mouth before shrinking back.
Ye Nai chuckled, lifted her leg, and followed through.
The portal she opened was right next to the entrance of the underground warehouse, and the moment she stabilized herself and knew that, just like last time, only Lin's advisor was standing guard.
"Are the guests here yet?"
"They've already entered the camp gate," the advisor said excitedly, his eyes sparkling.
"Oh great, I need to hurry then."
Ye Nai turned around, returned to the guest room, and just as she opened the door she saw Qin Rui poised to knock.
"Quick, quick, come in, go straight through, the advisor is waiting, he says the guests have entered through the camp gate."
Qin Rui and his team didn't hesitate for a second and ran into the room, leaping into the portal.
Ye Nai peeked down the hallway from both ends, then locked and bolted the door before calmly stepping into the portal.
Once settled, she saw Camp Commander Lin's advisor gazing enviously at Qin Rui and his team. She didn't disturb their bonding time, instead, she closed the portal and walked to the underground entrance alone.
The setup inside was exactly the same as last time; Camp Commander Lin was already waiting below, with a hot kettle of water kept warm on the teapot car.
The two shook hands and exchanged pleasantries, Ye Nai brewed herself a cup of tea and sat down to wait.
She hadn't even warmed her seat when footsteps and chatter echoed from the ground. Camp Commander Lin stood up to greet the newcomers.
Lin's advisor led them down, and this time there were significantly more people than last time.
Apart from the Combat Department's Vice Minister Fan Zeyang and his secretary and advisor, six others had arrived.
Among those six were a man and a woman, their shoulder insignias identical to that of Vice Minister Fan; they were both Major Generals.
Further, the female general was accompanied by a female subordinate, and the rest were male.
Ye Nai silently rose, observing Camp Commander Lin's reaction and noticing that he recognized the two Major Generals, though clearly didn't expect them, as he saluted rather excitedly and even exclaimed their surnames.
Fortunately, Fan Zeyang's secretary introduced Ye Nai to them.
The newly arrived Major Generals, the female is the Staff Department's Vice Minister, Major General Su, and the male is the Logistics Department's Vice Minister, Major General Cheng, accompanied by two subordinates, a secretary, and an advisor.
Ye Nai shook hands with each one.
"Quite the extravagance today, should we switch to a more secure location?"
Ye Nai teased with a smile, knowing as soon as Fan's secretary introduced her, she guessed the Staff and Logistics Departments were here for on-site inspection.
"Yes, let's first move to a safer spot and transition," Fan Zeyang laughed in agreement.
"Alright, bring the table and chairs along then, or we won't have a hot drink," Ye Nai understood instantly.
Camp Commander Lin raised no objections.
Ye Nai placed her hand on the corner of the table, collecting the chairs and teapot car together into her Space.
The Staff and Logistics Department people's expressions remained unchanged.
With their positions, they had encountered countless Awakeners with Space storage abilities, similar to Ye Nai's broad-range Space Users, so they weren't surprised.
"What's the drop point?" Ye Nai asked as she finished gathering the furniture, her gaze gradually sweeping over the faces of the nine people.
"On the highway, avoid dropping in front of people."
"Alright."
As Ye Nai nodded, a portal opened beside them.
Ye Nai took the lead and walked through.
"Just like that, it opened so easily?" Su, the Vice Minister of Staff, was finally a little surprised.
"Yes, you saw it firsthand, I wasn't lying to you,"
"Let's go, let's go, discuss later, isn't cross-dimensional portals supposed to consume energy?" Cheng, the Vice Minister of Logistics, was the second group to walk through, followed by his secretary and advisor.
"Alright, I'll experience it too,"
Su, the Vice Minister, led her secretary and advisor as the third group through.
Fan Zeyang and his team were the fourth group, with Camp Commander Lin following last.
