Chapter 850: Uriel Sage vs Jon Hunter Part 1
Although Jon was already familiar with Uriel's dash skill, it became evident that it was on a whole new different level now as Uriel was able to move at about the same speed than Jon. Jon was by no means the fastest of his rank, but for a heavenly rank hunter to match his speed it was actually pretty impressive.
However, while Jon was not necessarily the fastest, he was among the strongest. Especially after using his 'thrill of the hunt' skill on a powerful creature, like the welch dragon he killed with the help of Dana. To say he was at the peak of his physical strength would not be an understatement and he had no qualms on using it to his advantage on the fight against Uriel if it meant getting the answers he sought.
The next time Uriel leapt forward Jon replied in kind and engaged with a closed fist so fast that although Uriel could see it drawing closer thanks to Dash, it was impossible to dodge. Blocking it with the dagger would have been an ideal scenario, but even that became impossible. Left with no other choice, Uriel intercepted Jon's fist with one of his own. The clash of the two hunters caused a sonic boom much similar to the ones caused in Jon's fight against Scofield as the two fists met with an almost equal amount of force.
"Not bad, mate, but can you take another one?" Jon said with a cocky smirk that hid how impressed he was by Uriel's raw strength that allowed him to match his fist.
"Sure." Uriel shrugged, without even grimacing despite having ever bone in his hand crushed. The red thread of fate boosted Uriel's strength by an astounding ten percent per each friend nearby and most of them were present, meaning Uriel also was at his peak in regards to physical strength. Unfortunately, his heavenly rank body was ill equipped to deal with such force and resulted in his hand being crushed.
With Uriel's right hand destroyed, Jon assumed he only needed to repeat the same move one more time to completely disable him and he rushed in to push the attack, but Uriel didn't remain idle as he started to swirl the dagger in the air like a lasso. In a fashion much similar to Uriel being able to see Jon's movements yet unable to do anything about them, the same thing applied to Jon now as the dagger's movement was too fast even for him.
By controlling the length of the flux wire Uriel was able to create a random pattern while also increasing or decreasing the speed at which the dagger moved, making it impossible to predict or dodge.
"You asked for this." Said Jon as he channeled flux energy into his body causing the scales that covered only half his body to slowly expand to his arms and legs.
Uriel glanced at Jon carefully studying him for weak spots while pondering the similitude to Miss Dragonfang's trait, if her trait was frightening and not off putting, that is. But Jon was not going to allow Uriel the luxury of time to find a way to defeat him and violently lunged towards Uriel, uncaring of the crimson dagger that was helpless against the dragon scales.
Uriel did his best to keep Jon at bay, but each time the blade grazed his scales it produced a clanging sound along with sparks as evidence that the attack was ineffective. However, Uriel had one more card to play as he had gained enough life essence to regenerate what was left of his hand and he used it to fire a magnum round directly on Jon's now vertical pupil.
Jon tilted his head to the side causing the magnum round to hit him in the scales and although it didn't have enough piercing power to go through the scales, the force dissipated in such a fashion that it felt just like being punched which allowed Uriel to press on the attach with the dagger poking at Jon on different spots on his torso hoping to find a soft spot. Knowing exactly the places where the scales had yet to reach, Jon moved accordingly to avoid getting wounded and countered with a powerful kick that cracked Uriel's ribs.
Rather than flying out, though, Uriel was thrown away and then started moving in a circular pattern towards Jon by using the same momentum of jon's kick with the help of the the flux wire he managed to entangle Jon's with. With each lap Uriel took around Jon, the more restricted the latter movements became. He tried to prevent it, but despite all his power Jon was unable to fight against since Uriel had used his own power against himself.
With both arms and legs covered in several layers of the flux wire Jon could barely move due to his now chunky lizardly appearance. Had that been all, he would have still had a fighting chance by spitting fire, but Uriel's buckskin rendered it useless.
"Come on, this is your last chance to give up and tell me what you know about your family," Jon said with feigned confidence, but Uriel refused to even acknowledge his words and used the time to start running around him to wrap Jon with even more wire. "I tried to be reasonable." Jon said before channeling out as much flux energy as he could.
Jon had no means to see the flux energy wire and could only feel it with his sense of touch, but that didn't mean he couldn't interact with it. His energy outburst formed a dense field of flux energy that caused the ground beneath his feet to give in and though it had no effect on the wire itself, it sure had an effect on Uriel who was focused on restricting his body.
Uriel felt dizzy at first, then became short of breath as most of the flux energy in the atmosphere was being siphoned by Jon. This strategy not only deprived Uriel of flux energy which essentially turned him into a regular human, but it also caused him to feel sick due to the foreign energy signature trying to breach inside his body.
"Nice try," Uriel said, before letting out just enough flux to cover himself with a protective layer. He then activated a tier 2 battery to recharge his smartphone and himself at the same time. It was barely enough energy to balance being deprived of atmospheric energy, but enough to make him feel better on the spot. "but I've experienced far worse. Any last words?" Uriel said as he lifted up the dagger in the air with one hand and grabbing his target with the other to make sure he could not wiggle his way out.
"A little help here, honey." Jon said, his draconic scales fading from his face revealing an awkwardly apologetic wry smile.
"Oh! No, I'm not going to help you now. You brought this to yourself, now apologize or get beaten up." Medusa sneered.
"And, it's apologize and get beaten up." Uriel corrected her.
"I wasn't talking to you, Winnie." Jon managed to say right before the Red thread of fate pierced through his skin directly into his abdomen, allowing Uriel to recover the lost flux energy and more.
Unfortunately for Jon, Dana was too perplexed to actually move on time and who could blame her. She had witnessed a heavenly rank hunter standing his ground against a holy rank, only to then defeat him in single combat. This was surprising enough, but the shocking part was that Jon actually didn't do anything wrong and also didn't go off easy on Uriel. She could see everything that happened, the effect of the dagger, Uriel's ability and her godly eyes allowed her to even see the wire made of flux, yet the outcome still shocked her as she had never seen something like that happen in her eternal life.
"Tsk! You always rely on me to clean up your messes." Dana scoffed before making her way towards Jon. She was just walking, though to those nearby she had become the manifestation of speed itself and became but a blur that seemingly vanished in thin air.
She was faster than any heavenly rank, faster than a holy rank hunter even, but for all her speed she couldn't match the speed of Medusa's petrifying glare that left her stunned in place reliving the moment she was separated from her child. She also wasn't fast enough to dodge the intense ray of light coming out from Luna's hand that blinded her shortly after and lastly, Dana also wasn't fast enough to outrun her own shadow.
"Stay put 'honey'," Nika scoffed making air quotes with shadow tendrils. "you don't want to get in between two men settling their business."
"Unhand me, creature. I am a god." Dana said after recovering herself from the temporary blindness.
"The more reason for you not to intervene in human affairs, now shut up and watch." Luna said in a monotone.
