Douluo Dalu 3: Purple-Gold Dragon God

Chapter 85: Chapter 85: New Semester, New Atmosphere

Frost Whisper Ice Wheel!

The ice and snow elements began to tremble, sword light flickered out, and shimmering icy wheels circled around Wu Zhangkong. His voice softened as he murmured, "Go…"

It didn't feel like a ten-thousand-year soul skill — more like the final words of someone holding onto a solitary love.

The Dragon God's Wrath collided with the ice. White light surged out, then gradually dispersed. Wu Zhangkong stepped in front of Gu You. "You win."

"Teacher Wu, you didn't unleash your full strength. I haven't truly won yet," Gu You said, looking him in the eye.

Wu Zhangkong just shook his head, saying nothing…

With the final exams over, a month of vacation arrived — pure happiness for every student. For Gu You too, he reflected with some amusement: only a few months into school, and he'd already landed a break.

During that month, he began carefully planning the creation of his own faction. First step — applying for an official Federation license. This was no easy feat, but with the help of Chen Shilin, he eventually got the process moving, though it would still take time to finalize.

Gu You wasn't in a rush though. After all, even founding a faction came down to funding, and one billion coins — while it sounded like a lot — would barely cover building a basic foundation. At minimum, he'd need to prepare over ten billion. Plus, he'd need to demonstrate enough strength, perhaps arranging a public challenge against a Title Douluo and livestreaming it to spread his reputation. Only then would enough people believe in joining him.

Meanwhile, his soul power had reached level 34 peak. Gaining one level in a month wasn't the fastest, but still impressive — and this was with irregular training. If he'd gone into full seclusion for a month, who knew what heights he might've reached?

During the month, the Blood God Legion's military drill videos also circulated. Gu You wasn't too surprised; the plot would inevitably progress. But the road ahead was still his own. Besides, the sudden appearance of the Blood God Legion likely shocked the other two continents — military budgets were probably going to jump by at least one or two levels.

When the new semester started, Eastsea Academy, quiet for a month, became lively again.

Students streamed back into the academy, filling the campus with energy and life. This was the second half of the school year, and once this term was over, they'd face grade promotions. With that came the pressure of advancement exams.

At a mid-level soul master academy, graduating from the junior section required breaking through to two soul rings. Without that, students wouldn't receive a diploma. At the senior section, three soul rings were the graduation threshold.

Neither standard was easy. The higher the grade, the tighter the time.

For first- and second-year students, though, things were still relatively relaxed — they weren't facing that pressure just yet.

As a boarding student, Gu You naturally stayed on campus. Honestly, if it weren't for going out on errands, he felt like a total homebody — twenty-five days a month spent holed up in his dorm, the remaining five days handling business or documents. He even had all his meals delivered.

In the Disciplinary Office…

"Teacher Wu, please, I implore you to take this student. The academy's investigation confirms she absolutely has the qualifications for the zero class," Long Hengxu said earnestly.

Wu Zhangkong glanced at the girl standing beside Long Hengxu. She kept her head lowered, looking timid. He recognized her instantly — wasn't this the same girl who had been so frightened by Gu You she fled the spirit ascension platform? "My class only takes monsters, not ordinary people. Do you really think she qualifies? She only has one ring."

Long Hengxu frowned slightly. "On that note, Teacher Wu, I think your zero class might need some adjustments. I agree Gu Yue and Gu You are fine, but why did Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi leave? The dean explained it to me later, but I still don't think it was right to let two talented two-ring students go just to keep a one-ring Tang Wulin. Because of that, the zero class's strength has dropped sharply. If this continues, what's the point of the class existing? Now I've found you another genius, but you keep dodging. If this goes on, I might have to formally recommend to the academy that we disband the zero class altogether — you only have four students left now."

Yes, Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi had left. Because of incompatibilities with Tang Wulin's martial soul, they couldn't perform fusion techniques. For the sake of friendship, they had both transferred to other schools.

Wu Zhangkong looked at Long Hengxu coldly. "You should say that to the dean, not to me. Students have their choices, and I have mine. Xu Xiaoyan, right? I'll give you a chance. Within one month, earn my approval and the approval of the other zero class students. If you can't, I don't care what background you have — you won't be my student. Understand?" His tone was as sharp as a knife but as soft as tofu at heart.

Xu Xiaoyan kept her head down, timidly nodding. Her little head almost buried itself in her chest.

"Come with me. I'll arrange your dorm." Without even saying goodbye to Long Hengxu, Wu Zhangkong turned and walked out.

"That guy…" Long Hengxu smacked the table hard.

Then he picked up his soul communicator, straightened his posture, and dialed a number.

"Hello, Dean? Yes, it's like this — I have an idea. After one semester of training, we've invested enormous resources into the zero class. But now they've lost two members. Isn't the board still questioning your decision? I think it's time we gave the zero class a chance to prove themselves publicly — and also test whether they're worth continuing to invest in. What do you think?"

"Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Send them out. It's not completely safe, but they're young. As long as their results aren't too bad, as long as they showcase our academy's style, once everyone knows how strong Eastsea Academy's teaching and faculty are, we won't need to worry about attracting more talent next term."

"Yes! Yes, I'll start arranging it right away."

"This is your dorm room." Wu Zhangkong opened the door and led the way in.

Xu Xiaoyan followed, surprised to find the room had only one bed, but it was fully furnished — the conditions were surprisingly good.

While inspecting the room, Xu Xiaoyan noticed a small hole in the wall. She leaned closer to peek through it and vaguely saw another room on the other side.

"Where does this lead?" she murmured to herself. Being cautious, she immediately stuffed the hole with a cloth — no way did she want anyone spying on her.

Gu You, with his keen spiritual senses, naturally noticed Wu Zhangkong bringing Xu Xiaoyan over. 'Seriously? They're putting her in the room next to mine?' he thought, a little exasperated.

Because the Xu family had considerable influence, Eastsea Academy gave her special accommodations. The only premium student dorm on campus was Gu You's. Conveniently, the room next to his was empty — so they arranged for her to move in there…
