Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Ruthless Hand, Crushing Flowers
Zhang Yangzi quickly described his assessment in the simplest terms. Just then, a streak of red light tore through the sky, shooting straight toward Zhang Yangzi perched in the tree.
They were discovered!
Zhang Yangzi dodged quickly, using his spirit to take flight. The group went on full alert — but Gu You didn't care who was coming. As long as they carried energy, to him they were no different from ordinary soul beasts. In this riot-phase Spirit Ascension Platform, there was no such thing as real-world sentiment. Opportunities were scarce; the strong claimed them!
A few figures appeared — three people, two males and one female. When they came face to face, Tang Wulin couldn't help but blink in surprise.
Among the trio, Tang Wulin didn't recognize the two teenage boys, but the girl he knew — it was Mu Xi.
At that moment, above Mu Xi's head floated a blazing sun-like fireball. The red beam just now had clearly come from her.
There was no doubt — Mu Xi's Blazing Sun Martial Soul was incredibly powerful, practically like a heavy cannon.
"It's you?" Mu Xi also froze slightly when she saw him, and the blazing light above her dimmed a little.
A weakness!
Gu You activated his first spirit ring, and on his fist, after months of hidden practice, the purple-gold destructive aura surged again. Waves of dragon might burst forth, his immense blood energy rolling. A massive dragon-head phantom surged forward, smashing toward the three.
"No!" Tang Wulin suddenly shouted.
But it was too late. The dragon-head phantom instantly engulfed the three, leaving no time to react, and in its wake, only a half-meter crater and a pile of Spirit Ascension energy remained.
Tang Wulin's face darkened as he turned to question Gu You. "She's my senior sister! Why did you attack her?"
Gu You shot him a cold look. "In here, there's no such thing as teachers or senior sisters. Don't forget why you came — to earn a thousand-year spirit ring! Ordinary energy can't support an upgrade; seizing energy from defeated spirit masters is the key. Are you going to throw away all your efforts just for sentiment? Here, strength rules. Either you take from others or they take from you. Of course, if you can't accept that, you're welcome to quit."
Tang Wulin had no argument. He clenched his fists. Wasn't Gu You right? The opportunity for a thousand-year spirit ring was right in front of them. The path of a spirit master was a fight against heaven and earth — what fairness existed? If there were fairness, would his spirit have been defective? Would his Martial Soul be Blue Silver Grass? Would his spirit power have been stuck at such low ranks?
Gu You didn't speak further, simply gesturing for everyone to absorb the energy and press on.
Even Wu Zhangkong, watching from outside, was seeing Gu You's first spirit ability for the first time — and could only silently marvel. To one-shot three likely Spirit Elders… truly terrifying.
Zhang Yangzi muttered with a sly grin, "Man, that's harsh… she was such a pretty senior sister."
But no sooner had the words left his mouth than a wave of terrifying elemental pressure from Gu Yue washed over him, making him freeze and quickly adjust his expression to something serious.
Suddenly, Zhang Yangzi's face went pale, his body swaying. His expression shifted to alarm. "No… my Blackie!"
Gu You's keen spiritual sense picked it up too. His eyes sharpened. A Man-Faced Demon Spider!
"Fall back!"
Looking up, Zhang Yangzi's black hawk spirit had already been pierced by an unknown object, dissolving — his cultivation instantly weakened by a third. Losing a spirit was a massive blow for any spirit master.
The five hurriedly retreated, leaving Gu You standing alone at the front.
A net of green poison silently dropped toward Gu You from above.
With dragon claws activated, Gu You swiped once, neatly slicing the web apart. When the poison strands hit the grass, they sizzled, releasing purple smoke and corroding the vegetation.
Seeing the web fail, a massive figure descended — eight long legs spread wide like spears, looming over Gu You.
With its black-and-white patterned body as large as a millstone and legs over two meters long, it emanated a strange light. As it landed, one could clearly see a beautiful human-like face on its underside — making it all the more terrifying.
Wang Jinxi's face turned ashen. His first Spirit Ascension Platform experience had been cut short by one of these.
But Gu You didn't rush to strike. He planned to capture this Man-Faced Demon Spider — few spirit beasts could challenge thousand-year beasts, and despite its disgusting appearance, it was undeniably strong.
Gu You's second spirit ring lit up, and mixed with his Purple Demon Eye, his spiritual power condensed into a point, striking the spider. With a shriek, it flipped onto its back, defeated.
Gu You always activated only one ring at a time, keeping the others hidden to avoid shocking observers.
He approached the spider, producing a spirit power flask. Before long, the spider dissolved into motes of energy, which he absorbed into his spiritual sea — gradually condensing into a solid form.
Before the group could fully register their astonishment, Gu You exhaled a long breath.
Suddenly, a roar echoed from ahead, and a bizarre, six-armed flaming serpent emerged not far away.
"Seriously? So many rare beasts just lining up to die." Gu You flexed his hands, bones cracking.
But just then, a flash of white light streaked past, and the six-armed fire serpent's body was instantly riddled with gashes. Strange spinning ice disks whirled through the air, their razor-sharp edges slicing the serpent apart.
Gu You froze, rage rising — "That was MY spirit beast!"
A figure appeared before them, a youth around seventeen or eighteen, with two yellow and one purple spirit rings — a Spirit Elder. He held a long white staff tipped with a blue crystal, his face cold and arrogant. Around him glowed a dense yellow aura.
Behind him peeked a young girl, about Tang Wulin's age, with pale blue hair in twin braids. She was exquisitely beautiful, even more so than Gu Yue, and clutched a smaller ice staff. A single yellow spirit ring glowed at her feet, and her expression looked uneasy, as if still unaccustomed to violence.
"I don't know, okay?!"
