Don't Mind Me Living In Another World Certainly Not As The Hero

Chapter 3: 3 - Moody Child... With a System?

It had been three years now since I had been transmigrated to this new world, in the last three years another three babies have been 'delivered' to the orphanage being managed by the sister, while my generation comprised of four including myself, and the older generation was only three.

In total the sister served as the guardian and 'mother' to all nine of us.

Through stories she told at night I learned this was a true isekai world with dungeons, and monsters, even levels but she always made sure to undercut us at proper moments lest we carelessly wander off into the forests to gain fame and power only to get killed by the monsters.

The other thing I learned was that while the world work much like Earth did, it also was very distinctly different.

Dungeons were the source of all goods, and while you could chop down a tree in the forest to use it for building a house no one did, simply because forest tree's didn't drop items, and a regular wood house would be far far worse off then once built from dungeon drops.

A 'regular' house would be stable and strong with ample durability, and even fireproof depending on the wood used, while regular wood would age and deteriorate within a few years and need constant repair.

Meanwhile all foodstuff likewise at one point or another came from dungeons, even the fields in the village growing wheat and the like were produced from seeds taken first from a dungeon before being grown on the surface.

It was nice, this world had much lower suffering it seems than there was on earth since food was ample so long as someone put in the effort to obtain it, you didn't even need to farm if you didn't want to, simply just go into the dungeon and kill some monsters and bam, grains, meat, fish, even luxury foods like chocolate would be dropped for you eating pleasure.

The next new bit of news was the fact that each person in this world had a 'Job' it seems, this was like a class and each persons class would give them some idea as to the direction their life would be led.

Most stories included, Paladin's or Knights, though some would have bandits, thieves, and even pirates serving the part as villains.

Though when I asked what job I had the sister only chuckles before saying I should have the villager job right now, but by the time I turned ten for the awakening ritual that I might be graced by the gods with a special job.

Hmmm, so not like Dragons and Labyrinths then where any one could be a starter class, but instead more like a branching system where you need to meet certain requirements before you can have a specific job, but can we change our jobs or even choose which suited job we want for ourselves?

As the years progressed and I gained more independence I had found I distanced myself from my siblings, constantly locked in deep thinking while they were off playing as children should.

But then it all changed.

When I was playing a simple game of checkers against the sister who was my only real challenger at this point.

"I win! Okay, let's [reset]... the... board?"

It was with this simple sentence that my world changed once more.

"Are you okay? Maybe you should lay down for a bit you look a bit pale."

"Ok yeah, haha I'll do that."

As I left the low table behind and went for the bedroom, my inner nerd was screaming out in joy.

why you might ask, well it seems something I just said activated my system because there was a holographic scene floating before my eyes.

[Nameless]

Job: Villager Lvl 1

Special Points: 0

Ability: [Reset]

Nothing much I know but still just to know I had a system was amazing to say the least.

And better yet I could see that my current job had a level which means I could increase that level and in doing so unlock greater jobs or more power, perhaps one day even magic!

and so began my days as a bit of an emo child, as I would sit down on the ground next to an ants next or infested pile of wooden brandishing a stick and stabbing it into the ground crushing the bugs crawling around under my assault.

[Killed Bugs*10]

[Killed Bugs*10]

[Killed Bugs*10]

Day after day I repeated, starting to acquire some queer gazes from the other villagers who saw this moody child intentionally spending all his days exterminating ever bug he could find in the village, don't get me wrong they were thankful to be rid of the buggers, but still my perceived 'fascination' of death was frowned upon but none brought it up to me other than the sister, who asked a couple times what I was doing.

At first 'playing with bugs' caused a grimice on her face, since I was hardly playing, but later when I responded with getting rid of the annoying bugs she instead smiled, thinking I was doing this to be helpful.

But how many bugs would I need to kill in order to level up?

Well I don't know the true number but somewhere around the thousdanth bug when I chanted the world reset my status had changed.

[Nameless]

Job: Villager Lvl 2

Special Points: 1

Ability: [Reset]

Hell yeah!

That's right I leveled up, and not only that I got a special point, whatever the hell that is.

But I didn't need to wait long for when I tapped the special points in the status a new window opened where there were a ton of options listed, the only one presently selected was [Reset] which cost 1 point explaining why I didn't have one point from being a Level One Villager.

All said and done I had 31 options before my eyes.

Options that truly could help me to rise up and become the hero of this world...

But why would I want to do that, I wasn't asked by god to save this world so why go out of my way to do so?
