Tanjiro was horrified by Lower Rank Five's cruelty, realizing that his so-called family was likely a collection of individuals gathered to fill his emotional void.

"In the end, you failed your duty. I have no use for such useless trash," Lower Rank Five said, his voice laced with displeasure.

"Wh-why? I've always tried my best to be your sister! Please, let me make amends!" the decapitated {female demon} pleaded desperately, attempting to use her sisterly role to bargain for her life.

"Then go kill those fools wandering around the mountain! Only then will I forgive your earlier failure," Lower Rank Five coldly commanded, granting a reprieve due to her past service.

"I... I understand! I'll kill them right away!" The {female demon}, trembling, hastily reattached her head and immediately fled, fearing any delay would incur Rui's wrath.

"Little brother! Let's talk," Lower Rank Five unexpectedly proposed a negotiation with Tanjiro.

Tanjiro stared at Lower Rank Five in astonishment, unsure of his intentions.

"I'm moved by you and your sister! Seeing your bond, I'm overcome with emotion, something I can't express. But if I kill you both, it would be a tragedy."

"However, I have a way to avoid such a tragedy. Give me your sister, and I'll spare your life!"

Lower Rank Five revealed his plan.

Tanjiro instantly refused. "What nonsense are you talking about?!"

"I'll make your sister my sister, starting today!" Lower Rank Five insisted.

"That's impossible! Nezuko isn't a plaything for your games. She has her own consciousness and feelings! She can never be your sister!" Tanjiro adamantly refused.

"Don't worry, I'll forge a bond. I'm stronger than her; it will be a bond of fear. I'll show her the consequences of defying me," Lower Rank Five continued.

Tanjiro's anger exploded at Lower Rank Five's twisted words. "You bastard! That's just binding someone with fear! It's not a family bond! You're talking nonsense, and I'll kill you for it!"

"Then I'll kill you and take your sister!" Lower Rank Five, seeing the negotiation had failed, prepared to eliminate Tanjiro.

"Before that, I'll cut off your head!" Tanjiro removed the {fog-bound cedar} box from his back, adopting a battle-ready stance.

"Your spirit is commendable! But can you defeat me? I am a member of the Twelve Kizuki! Your survival until now is solely because I haven't chosen to kill you yet," Lower Rank Five sneered at Tanjiro's desperate resolve.
