Even those who noticed the manipulation and cut the silk found it constantly replaced, leading to more victims. Severing the limbs of the controlled Slayers only helped the {demons}.

Lower-ranked Ding-rank Slayers, like Ryuji, suffered the most casualties.

Slayer ranks were determined by reports submitted to headquarters by the crows. Only those meeting the criteria received promotions and rewards.

Murata and Shinji were pragmatic. They chose to hide, waiting for either dawn or the arrival of the Hashira.

It wasn't cowardice; it was strategic. Charging into a losing battle was foolish.

Suddenly, the sound of pulling silk broke the silence. Murata's face fell.

"They're coming! Let's leave and regroup," Murata suggested.

"Too late," Ryuji said.

Many controlled Slayers, moving like zombies, surrounded them.

"Cut the silk! Fight your way out! Escape!" Murata commanded.

"No need for that," Ryuji stepped forward, hand on his sword.

He took a deep breath, drawing his Nichirin Blade halfway before stopping.

A vortex of energy formed around him.
