Chapter 21: VASTUS: CHAPTER 21
Vastus sat down scribbling a letter to the army in the south.
While everyone restlessly walked around the chamber.
It had been exactly 72 hours 52minutes and 29seconds.
Myth had been counting and his was sure the traitor was in this room.
The screams from below had never quieted not even once, they hadn't slept, hadn't eaten. They only drank water which Regasus had been fortunate to always carry.
They peed in a random bucket, the smell made them nauseous.
It was hell.
It was obvious too obvious the longer they stayed in this room.
The faster they will all die, he was certain that the plan of the traitor was to attack when all their guards were down.
The problem was who was the enemy, Regasus pondered.
Seven of the prince's sat in this room, the other standing.
All of them cunning snakes five capable of murder, two no better than a woman, one already to be banished.
"Mother my hair has gotten frizzy look." Tyr pouted to Alivara.
It was definitely not Tyr he cared more about appearances than the throne.
Lael slumbered in the corner of the room "I miss you Martha." he muttered in his sleep.
Lael cared more about the brothel than the throne, so that leaves.
Kael, Kirin, Lir, Ara and Helios.
Too large a sum of numbers, they all sat down in silence watching each other cautiously. Ara although was to be banished Regasus deemed him incapable of treason.
He appeared to be air headed, even though he was ruthless. He was a drunk and a fool like the Emperor a perfect copy according to the rumours.
It was a silent war and only the alert could sense the murderous atmosphere in the room.
They haven't been together in the same room for this long since they were kids.
Alivara watched Ara and Regasus with caution, Regasus was powerful he could easily pull a siege on Alcon but he seemed too loyal to vastus or was she wrong and Ara was too weak in power to pull such a violent siege then again she could be wrong.
There was no logic to either Ara or Regasus being the traitor without proof so she quit pondering it, it was giving her a headache.
One of them in this room in her eyes could be the traitor she couldn't let her guard down.
Since Helios and Kirin were mourning the death of their mother concubine Malia the third concubine, they weren't in the nicest of moods.
Regasus cancelled them out they wouldn't plan a siege that would harm their mothers.
They clutched their blades and clenched their jaws. Kael never much liked his mother malia the third concubine.
Mostly because she was fond of Ara in the bedroom he considered his mother a whore.
He hated Ara so much he was strangling him across the room with his eyes.
Vastus tied the letter to the pidgin and Regasus spoke "I think we should climb out of the tower and take west road to Argia the northern kingdom, it's a two days ride from here."
They listened cautiously "Their army will arrive soon. whoever is laying this siege will be planning to strike Alcon next, then Argia in other to gain true power."
Myth sighed "We can't let that happen, we cannot hide here forever like cowards."
Tyr chuckled "You guys seem to be forgetting something. This tower is thirty feet above the ground how are we going to get down there?"
