Dancing Between The Hearts- Tylia and Theo

Chapter 7: Twisted Kindness

Chris positioned himself back towards the seat. He was relieved that Tylia had awoken while he was still present.

"How are you feeling?" he asked.

Tylia did not answer. The memory rushed back to when she lost consciousness after falling to the ground. Now, she was in the hospital.

"How many days have I been here?" she asked.

Chris recalled Lilian telling him it had been three days since Tylia was unconscious.

So, he said, "It has been three days."

"Strange, I've never fallen ill like this before," her eye was distant. Chris rubbed Tylia's hand with his thumb. His heart was full of regret.

"Tylia, I'm sorry about the rumours. There was nothing between Cristina and me. I hope you believe me." Tylia smiled and nodded, but no single word was uttered.

After a moment of silence, he pulled a velvet box from his pocket. As soon as the box was opened, an elegant band appeared. Chris gently slid onto Tylia's finger.

Tylia felt something cold embrace her ring finger. She raised her hand and glanced admiringly toward a gold band. She asked Chris, "Is this a Valentine's gift?"

"Yes, I plan to present it to you on Valentine's Day. I guess, since I was here, you're getting this gift a bit in advance. My mom picked this. It's nice on you. If you don't like it, I'll buy another gift," Chris said.

"I like anything you give. Will you be here when Valentine?"

"Yes, Mom arranged something for us. Just wait until the day comes. It's secret." His mother had carefully planned everything. She raised both her hands to hold Chris's face.

"Chris, I love you and am afraid I might lose you. Did you love me?" she said as she looked deep into his eyes.

"Of course I do," Chris whispered. He leaned down and planted a kiss on her cheek. Then she hugged him tightly as if afraid Chris would disappear.

She remembered her dream. Today's meeting showed that Chris still loved her. So, why did that dream appear? For the first time, she doubted her ability.

At the hospital cafeteria, Cristina sat facing Lilian, who was enjoying her meal. She felt uneasy about leaving Chris alone with Tylia, so she excused herself by saying she needed to use the restroom.

After that, she went up to the ward. Upon arriving, she was shocked to witness the intimacy between Chris and Tylia. She deliberately barged in and pretended not to see their situation.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I don't know you were wide awake." she meant to disturb the two of them.

Tylia was startled when the door burst open, and she heard an unfamiliar woman's voice. Chris immediately got up from the bed and approached Cristina. His demeanour shifted.

He took Cristina's hand and said, "It's nothing. Come, I'll introduce you. This is Tylia Jackson, my fiancée. Tylia, do you still remember? I once told you that Robert died because of me."

"Yes, I remember clearly," Tylia answered. Her voice was low, and she seemed slightly disappointed because Chris was different from before Cristina came.

Chris continued, "This is Cristina Mendez, Robert Mendez's sister. I took her after Robert died because she had no one left. So, the news about us was not true. I consider her as my younger sister. I hope you understand."

Tylia nodded. Although it was difficult, she managed to show them her smile. She had to swallow the bitterness.

Chris then said, "Cristina, please look after Tylia. I need to go call the doctor."

Tylia wanted to say there was no need. She could ring the doctor by pressing the button near the bed. But Chris was fast enough to leave the room, leaving her alone with Cristina.

Cristina felt annoyed about Tylia's appearance. Even though she was sick, she looked glowing and charming. She then took a seat without being invited. With no one present, she had no intention of hiding her true colour.

"Pardon me if my presence has disturbed you─ you heard what Chris said. I'll always be his priority from now on, and you will always see us together."

"Pardon?" Tylia was bewildered, and that made Cristina laugh mockingly.

"You heard it right, Ms Jackson. Also, about the photo, we were together in my room; we did the thing—"

Tylia shook her head as she cut Cristina's words. "No! Chris said—"

"Hah! You seem confident. Do you really believed what he said? He just pretend to love you. Even if he lies to you, it's not him to be blamed. It was you! That's because you were busy with your stupid studies, and this stupid long-distance relationship made him suffer." Her tone was blaming.

Cristina continued, "He was a man with desires and I always fulfilled his requests."

She proudly claimed that she could fulfil Chris's desire. She noticed the fruit and knife on the table. Abruptly, she took the knife and started peeling the fruit. Then she ate it.

Tylia shook her head, not believing what Cristina said, "You lied. Get out!"

Cristina smirked, saying, "Nah, you can ask him. As for today, he's begging me to tag along. It takes hours to arrive from Bay Leaf City. If I do not agree, he won't come either. If he truly cared about you, he arrived on the day you were admitted to the ward!"

Tylia clutched her chest. Just a moment ago, she woke from a coma. Having been consumed by emotion, she felt it hard to breathe.

Quickly, she reached to press the emergency button, but Cristina dodged.

She laughed and said, "You should die. You are a burden to Chris!"

After that, Cristina heard footsteps and pretended to be anxious.

"Tylia!" Matthew and the nurse arrived. The situation became stressful, but Matthew and the nurse were skilled at handling it.

"Ahh," Cristina screamed after noticing Chris had also arrived. She deliberately pressed the knife against her finger until it bled.

"Cristina, what happened?" He snapped to see the situation.

"Chris, help Tylia. She can't breathe!" As an actress, Cristina was capable of making scenes work.

"Let the doctor handle her. You must treat the wound first," Chris said, immediately leading Cristina out of the room.

Tylia's eyes were misty from the pain. But she forced herself to catch a glimpse of Chris, who was leaving the room with Cristina.

After he left the room, she let her eyes close. The voices of her father and the nurse calling her became farther and farther away until they could not be heard.

Behind the door, Luna stood quietly as she didn't know how to react. She accidentally overheard the commotion when she returned to look for her lost item.

The other friends had already gone back. Only Mark was left, waiting for her. When she reached the car, Mark noticed Luna's face was ashen.

Mark asked, "Did you find your stuff?" Luna just shook. She urged Mark to follow her.

Surprised, Mark said, "Did something happen?" Luna continually nodded, and both of them rushed back into the hospital.

Luna was still in disbelief at how Chris treated Cristina better than his fiancée. He completely ignored Tylia, despite her being in the critical state.

Luna clutched her chest, holding back the lump in her throat. Mark, who noticed, frowned.
