Chapter 12: Blindside
Dianne caught the melody of Tylia's voice. She leaned forward to glance at the young woman she had been entrusted to prepare for this evening. "Wow!" Dianne shouted inwardly, mesmerised by the person in front of her.
She was wearing a loose bathrobe but appeared enchanting. Her skin was glowing slightly pinkish, indicating that Tylia had just finished bathing before they came. Standing in a graceful posture, Dianne could see Tylia had long legs.
Tylia's smile caught Dianne off guard, and she found it challenging to resist the urge to touch her. Despite being young, Tylia exudes maturity.
"Hello, Ms Tylia Jackson. I'm Claudia Lee, the manager of Starlight Hotel, and this is Ms Dianne Cruz, the MUA. She will help you get ready for dinner," Claudia introduced and stepped out of the room.
"Hi, it's my pleasure to meet you," Dianne said. She was delighted to have Tylia because, despite being in this profession for years, Tylia appeared to be the most beautiful young lady she had ever met.
"Ms. Cruz, did you wish for refreshment before we start?" Tylia offered.
"No thanks. I've already had a drink before coming," Dianne politely declined the offer.
"Ms. Jackson, could we start getting ready now?" Dianne asked.
"Yes, of course," Tylia answered, and Dianne's next target was the wardrobe. The day before, all of the ordered garments were delivered. Upon opening the wardrobe, Dianne found a beautifully organised row of well-known clothing brands.
"Ms. Jackson, what kind of dress are you interested in?"
"I prefer something simple and comfortable."
Dianne's fingers danced over the shoulders of the clothes, her eyes glancing and selecting one by one. She retrieved eight pairs, of which later Tylia would choose one.
After an hour had passed, Tylia was ready. Suddenly, her phone rang. Tylia was prompted to move toward the table beside the bed. "Just a moment, I need to answer this."
Dianne nodded and said, "Certainly. I need to retrieve something from the car and will come in after you finish the call." Dianne exited the room, allowing Tylia to receive the call.
"Chris," Tylia called the caller's name.
Tylia heard Chris's gentle yet firm voice on the other end of the line. He stated, "Tylia, first of all, I'm sorry for the sudden interruption. I have an urgent matter and must return to Bay Leaf City. I know I shouldn't do this, but I couldn't avoid it."
Tylia fell silent. She recalls that Chris made no further attempts to contact her after his last visit. Since then, she thought Chris would make it up for today. But he rang her to express regret for his absence. He was aware that Tylia would be upset because he neglected her, but still, he did that.
Honestly, Tylia felt torn because she left her family, who were all together for Valentine's Day. And she came far away to accept the invitation.
"Chris, it's okay. It's understandable," she said in a low voice. She was upset but did not show it.
Yes, she understood all the situations that happened. Unbeknownst to Chris, Tylia made her move. Brian's family owned a media company, and yesterday, Tylia inquired for Brian's help.
"Brian. Erm… I want to request your father's assistance. I need an investigator," Tylia expressed.
Undoubtedly, they were familiar to investigators throughout the city because before some news was released, they would investigate the validity of the information.
Brian was a bit upset with Tylia's situation. Tylia was a gentle and kind-hearted person, and she deserved better treatment. Following what Chris had done, Brian was determined to help.
"I'm ready to assist. Would you want me to investigate your fiancé along with that woman?" Brian guessed, to which Tylia confirmed.
Since then, the investigator has begun digging into Chris and Cristina's affairs. After waking up from sleep that evening, Tylia received information that Chris had returned to Bay Leaf City due to an unfortunate accident involving Cristina while she was alone.
Along with the information, there were photos of Cristina and Chris. She knew that was one side scheming from Cristina, who created the accident. Despite what had happened, Tylia has no idea what caused Chris to become blind by falling into Cristina's trap.
Tylia snapped when Chris called her, "Tylia, are you still there?"
"Yes," she answered shortly.
"I will come back as soon as my business here finished. Don't worry about the dinner. I will make a reservation at another time." Chris tried to make up with her.
"Chris, I am perfectly fine without the dinner. Just take care of yourself. Don't worry about me." Tylia determined to end the call, not wanting to hear any further excuses from Chris. Tylia's answer somehow relieved Chris. He began to feel that Tylia was easy to persuade.
"Just let me know, and I will give whatever you wish. I promised. About my mom, I will explain to her." Tylia just replied with 'OK', and Chris ended the conversation.
After the call ended, the main door was knocked on, and Dianne and Claudia entered after getting permission. Claudia said, "Ms Jackson, Mr Hunter informed me that he cannot join you for dinner this evening, which means you will be dining alone."
"How about Mrs Hunter? Did she know about this?" Tylia asked.
"She has no idea about this. Mr Hunter does not allow me to speak on this matter," Claudia said.
"If that's the case…" Tylia turned around toward Dianne.
She asked, "Ms Cruz, do you mind having dinner instead of me?" Tylia had no desire to attend the dinner, which reminded her of Chris. She asked Dianne if she could attend the dinner on her behalf.
As a woman, Dianne was understood. Then she agreed to attend the dinner, and Tylia felt grateful. She told them she needed rest and to be alone, so they left the room.
Tylia washed off the makeup and changed back into her clothes. That night, Tylia slipped out of the hotel without anyone noticing.
