Chapter 90
Not long after, they arrived at the high-speed rail station.
Quan Zhisui was wearing the outfit she had been eyeing for a long time—a light blue wool coat paired with a pink high-neck sweater, white straight-leg pants, and white sneakers.
The shoes were also bought by Wei Shixu.
Wei Shixu stood at the entrance of the station, dressed head-to-toe in black as usual, with a thick black coat and a gray scarf casually draped around his neck.
He looked cold and indifferent, devoid of emotion.
"Quan Zhisui! You look so beautiful!" Kong Mingze's loud voice rang out, drawing the attention of many people around them.
Zhuge Ying also chimed in, "Wow! Quan Zhisui, you look stunning today!"
Both of them were beaming with excitement, even running over to greet her.
In the distance, Wei Shixu glanced up at the sound and saw Quan Zhisui walking toward him in the outfit he had picked out, so radiant that she seemed to outshine the world around her.
He averted his gaze to the sky, forcefully suppressing the rapid beating of his heart.
He couldn’t look at her too much—it would drive him mad.
All four of them had second-class seats, but Quan Zhisui quickly noticed that many of the other passengers in the same carriage were familiar faces.
A large group of bodyguards.
Kong Mingze must have recognized them too, but he was used to it.
Ever since Wei Shixu had been kidnapped, he had been accompanied by a large number of plainclothes bodyguards wherever he went.
At first, none of the four were tired, especially Zhuge Ying and Kong Mingze, who were excitedly chatting with Quan Zhisui.
Quan Zhisui was also excited—she was finally going back to the mountains!
Meanwhile, Wei Shixu kept his gaze fixed out the window, not joining in the conversation.
However, it wasn’t long before Kong Mingze and Zhuge Ying grew tired from chatting and dozed off, each leaning against their respective seats.
Quan Zhisui, still energized, wasn’t sleepy.
She and Wei Shixu were seated across from each other, both by the window.
Before long, she felt an intense gaze fixed on her.
Quan Zhisui: "..."
She tried hard not to meet his eyes, instead propping her chin on her hand and staring out at the scenery.
Damn it! The high-speed train from Liangxi Town to Wudang Mountain Station would take seven hours!
Wei Shixu asked softly, "Do you want to upgrade to first class and get some sleep?"
Quan Zhisui had no choice but to look at him and shake her head. "I’m fine here. Why don’t you upgrade?"
Someone like him, a young master, probably wasn’t used to second-class seats.
Wei Shixu shook his head. "I want to stay with you."
Quan Zhisui: "..."
Fine, she’d just sleep too! If she was asleep, she wouldn’t have to deal with him!
As Quan Zhisui closed her eyes and her breathing gradually evened out, Wei Shixu took out a tablet and stylus and began sketching her.
...
By the time she woke up, the train was slowing down, approaching the station. It was now 2:30 PM, just in time to head into the mountains.
As soon as Quan Zhisui opened her eyes, she heard Zhuge Ying and Kong Mingze chattering away beside her, seemingly with endless things to talk about.
Wei Shixu was still looking at her...
Quan Zhisui glanced down at her phone and saw an unread message from Wei Shixu—a hand-drawn sketch.
Of her.
He could draw?
No wonder he was so sensitive to color coordination—he must have studied it.
[Wei Shixu: A gift for your profile picture. Change it.]
Quan Zhisui: "..."
After getting off the train, the four of them took a taxi to the Martial Arts School.
However, the car couldn’t take them all the way to the entrance of her master’s school. They had to walk a stretch of the mountain path to get there.
The Martial Arts School wasn’t located in the tourist area but deep in the back mountains of Wudang Mountain.
Quan Zhisui led the way, while Kong Mingze excitedly ran ahead, looking around everywhere. Wei Shixu also took in the surroundings, while Zhuge Ying was struggling after just a few steps.
A group of bodyguards followed them at a distance.
Half an hour later.
Zhuge Ying, gasping for breath, asked, "Zhisui, how much farther? Oh my god, this is the first time I’ve ever climbed such a high, exhausting mountain!"
Quan Zhisui stopped to wait for her. "We’re almost there. If you’re like this now, how are you going to handle the Wudang Mountain scenic area? It’s even higher."
Zhuge Ying, looking as if her soul had left her body, replied, "I’ll take the cable car."
Quan Zhisui laughed. "We’ll be at the Martial Arts School for ten days. That’s enough time for you to learn some Five Elements Qigong and Eight Brocades."
Zhuge Ying: "No, no, I’m not learning anything. This is too tiring. I’d rather do homework!"
Quan Zhisui: "Give it a try. It’s good for your health."
Kong Mingze was also tired but in better shape than Zhuge Ying. He chimed in, "I’ll learn! I feel like I have a talent for martial arts!"
Quan Zhisui: "All Chinese people have a talent for martial arts. It’s a treasure passed down by our ancestors."
As she said this, she glanced in surprise at Wei Shixu, who was right behind her.
This guy wasn’t even out of breath.
Wei Shixu noticed her looking and wiped a thin layer of sweat from his forehead, then smiled at her.
"I like exercising," he said.
He just couldn’t beat her in a fight—that didn’t mean he was weak.
The group of bodyguards behind them also showed no signs of exhaustion. Each of them had incredible stamina and carried large backpacks filled with sleeping bags and other supplies.
How much were they being paid for this?
They were now deep in the mountains, and along the way, they could see Taoist temples built halfway up the slopes. Though some were dilapidated from years of neglect, they exuded a strong sense of history.
Zhuge Ying exclaimed, "So beautiful! The red walls are so atmospheric!"
Quan Zhisui smiled and continued walking.
Soon, they reached a small path where a long table was set up, laden with fruits.
Quan Zhisui strode forward—they were almost there!
Two volunteers from the temple stood by the table and greeted them, "Friends climbing the mountain, would you like some fruit?"
Kong Mingze excitedly ran over. "Wow! Is it free?"
The volunteer nodded with a smile. "Yes, it’s free. These are offerings from the temple. We give them to travelers climbing the mountain."
Kong Mingze immediately grabbed two, one for himself and one for Zhuge Ying.
Quan Zhisui instinctively reached for a piece but suddenly paused, her hand hovering in mid-air before slowly lowering.
Her legal guardian was now Zuo Zhiyu.
Was she still considered her master’s child...
At that moment.
A Taoist priest appeared from around the corner, walking quickly downhill as if in a hurry.
As he passed the four of them, he glanced over and suddenly froze in place!
Quan Zhisui’s lips curled into a smile, and she started to say, "Mas..."
"Ah!!" The priest looked as if he’d seen a ghost, turned around, and sprinted back up the mountain, shouting as he ran, "The troublemaker is back! The troublemaker is back!!!"
Zhuge Ying was stunned, and Kong Mingze was equally dumbfounded.
Wei Shixu, however, stood to the side, smiling silently, his eyes filled with amusement and curiosity as he studied Quan Zhisui.
Well, well. Troublemaker, huh?
The two volunteers were also startled and instinctively took a step back, their eyes darting between Zhuge Ying and Quan Zhisui in surprise.
In this area, whether it was the Taoist priests, Martial Arts School staff, or temporary volunteers, everyone had heard of the infamous "troublemaker."
They just didn’t know which of the two girls it was.
Quan Zhisui immediately felt her worries vanish. Without hesitation, she grabbed a piece of fruit and ate it!
Then, she stretched her muscles, loosened her joints, and charged up the mountain!
