Part-123
James logged into secondowner.com, his fingers flying across the touchscreen. The website was a chaotic mess, filled with countless listings for everything imaginable. Ryan suggested, "Maybe we should order something reasonable, just in case this whole thing blows up in our faces."
James nodded in agreement. "Good point." He scrolled through the listings, his eyes scanning the screen for potential targets. Finally, he settled on a second-hand water filter.
He clicked on the listing and sent a message to the seller, expressing his interest in the product. Within minutes, his phone rang. It was the seller.
"Hello," the seller's voice, a smooth baritone, answered.
"Hi, I'm interested in the water filter," James replied, trying to sound as casual as possible. "I'm looking for something that can effectively remove impurities like chlorine and heavy metals."
The seller paused briefly, then replied, "This filter is perfect for that. It uses a combination of activated carbon and reverse osmosis to purify water, removing up to 99% of contaminants."
James pressed further, "But I've heard that some filters can reduce water pressure. How does this one handle that?"
"That's a valid concern," the seller admitted. "This model is designed to minimize pressure drop while maintaining high filtration efficiency. It also has a flow rate of 1.5 gallons per minute, so you won't notice a significant difference in water pressure. Additionally, the filter has a lifespan of about six months, so you won't need to replace it frequently. However, it's important to note that the filter can't remove all contaminants, such as viruses and bacteria. For that, you would need a more advanced filtration system."
The seller proceeded to give a detailed description of the product, its pros and cons, and even offered to answer any questions James had. The conversation flowed smoothly, and James couldn't detect any obvious signs of deception. It was as if he was talking to a legitimate seller.
James pressed further, "One last thing, how about the payment? Do you prefer cash on delivery or online transfer?"
The seller paused for a moment, as if considering the question. "Actually, you can pay after you receive the product. Just inspect it first to make sure it meets your expectations."
James was surprised. Most online scams involved upfront payments. This seller's offer seemed too good to be true. Could it be that they were actually legitimate?
"Alright, thank you for your time," James said, trying to sound casual. "I'll discuss this with my mom and get back to you."
He ended the call and turned to Ryan, a thoughtful expression on his face. "That was weird," he said. "The seller seemed too genuine."
Ryan raised an eyebrow. "Maybe they're trying a new tactic. They reel you in with good customer service, and then they hit you with a surprise."
James nodded, not entirely convinced. "It's possible," he said. "It's like finding a needle in a haystack," James muttered, shaking his head. "Genuine sellers are mixed in with the scammers, making it tough to spot the bad guys."
