Chapter 180: Brandvel Magic University
The horrifying sight of Alex smashing Laura and the killer's sanctuary barrier around the arena continued for five minutes, the audience had long grown numb to the scene and just stared with lightless looks in their eyes.
Many people were on the verge of jumping into the arena to beat Alex up for how he was treating Laura. In their opinion, she was too pretty for such ruthless treatment. Students of the Blue Void Magic Academy had cold expressions on their faces, their eyes glaring at Alex with strong killing intent.
While the students from Dragonic Magic Academy covered their faces as they couldn't bear to watch.
After five minutes of slamming the barrier around, a referee approached Alex and told him to stop; he had won and there wasn't any need to continue anymore.
Alex knew he had already won because just after two minutes of throwing Laura around, he noticed she was no longer in any condition to keep fighting. But he didn't stop, making her unable to fight anymore was not enough to repay how he had treated the previous Alex.
Besides, her junior sister used to bully Emily. So, Alex kept at it till she passed out. Blood gushed out from her nose as painted the inside of the killer's sanctuary barrier, making it look like a red barrier instead.
Even as a Core mage, Laura couldn't withstand being tossed around so roughly and had bled out before she passed out. Except for that, she wasn't hurt anywhere else.
Alex dropped Laura and the barrier on the ground and then ended the spell, his eyes returned to normal as he stared at the unconscious Laura. Blood stained her face and uniform as she lay motionless on the ground, the barrier disappeared a few seconds after Alex dropped her on the ground.
A teacher of the Blue Void Magic Academy immediately rushed into the arena after Alex's victory was announced, he shot a cold glare at Alex before carrying Laura away.
Alex shrugged and walked out of the arena as well. He could feel countless gazes on him as he walked back to the sitting area of his academy, but he didn't react and just kept walking.
Alicia was also looking at him with a not-so-surprised look.
'As expected, he's a freak.' she thought to herself after seeing what Alex had done to his opponent.
After returning to the sitting area of his academy, the students didn't immediately cheer and welcome him for winning, as the sight of what he did to Laura was still very fresh in their minds as if they were watching a replay.
However, Alex didn't really care about their praises. While everyone was silent, it was the Dean who spoke out.
"Haha, that was a good surprise, Alex. I thought that it was hopeless, but you pulled it off. Although the method was…Harsh, I understand that it was the only way, considering how troublesome the killer's sanctuary barrier can be.
Well done, kid." The Dean said with a big laugh, his long beard trembling.
'So that's the name of her barrier, it was really a tricky one.' Alex thought to himself after hearing the words of the Dean, he decided to look up the barrier later. It seemed nice, he could get some for his family.
Nothing wrong with having multiple layers of protection.
After the Dean took the lead, the students began to congratulate Alex on winning, and also expressed their words of gratitude.
With his victory, their academy would be able to move into the third round of the tournament!
Meanwhile, the matches continued as there were still academies that hadn't fought yet
By 3 in the afternoon, all matches were finally over and it was time for everyone to return home for the day. They would be coming back again two days from now, when the final matches for the second round of the tournament would be held.
Everyone started to return to their various homes after the last match of the day ended. Alex met up with his family outside the stadium, finding them wasn't difficult at all with the level of his senses.
His mother immediately started to talk about his match with Laura, saying that Alex had been too ruthless to the girl and might have hurt her too much; she wasn't too happy with the way Alex had won.
Alex explained to her that the barrier around Laura had forced him to do what he did, he wouldn't have won if he tried to go easy because she was untouchable while inside the barrier.
His father joined in and told his wife that Alex didn't have a choice, but he also told Alex that he should have stopped after the girl passed out and didn't need to keep going for so many minutes.
Alicia remained silent on their topic since she was afraid of Alex while Emily only talked about how cool her big brother was and how much she wanted to be a powerful mage like him.
While they were still talking, a group of people approached them from behind.
"You must be Alex, that was a spectacular match just then; well, all your matches have been spectacular so far." An interested voice sounded from beside them.
Alex and his family turned over to see who was talking. It turned out to be Julius, and with him were Ellie and the two young Master mages who were at the auction with him.
The young lady walked beside Ellie while the other one stood next to Julius, all of them were looking at Alex with graceful airs around them. To Alex's family, they looked like experts!
But to Alex and Alicia, these four were just 'not bad'.
But Alex had to play accordingly as an Adept rank mage, he wasn't Mr Chen right now.
"I am, who are you?" Alex replied, his tone wasn't rude but wasn't particularly respectful either. He stole a glance at Ellie and couldn't help but secretly marvel at how pretty she was now that she wasn't in a miserable state compared to last night.
"Of course, allow me to introduce myself," Julius said and proceeded with his introduction. He also introduced Ellie as a fellow instructor from the Brandvel Magic University that was located in the capital, and the two young Master mages were among their finest, freshly graduated students.
'Brandvel Magic University, so the university was named after the capital city of the country.' Alex thought to himself as he continued to listen to Julius.
The man went on to say how the Brandvel Magic University was the biggest and most powerful magic university in the entire country. This was, in fact, true, and Alex knew this as well; it was why the university was the only magic university in the whole capital.
However, he was already aware of all this information but still had to act surprised a little; he could already tell why Julius and his group had approached him.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, I've heard so much about the Brandvel Magic University and dreamed of going there one day!" Alex exclaimed, putting on an excited expression.
Ellie smiled slightly at his reaction while Julius nodded in satisfaction, Alicia and Alex's family continued to watch.
Others passing by also looked at them but didn't pay much attention.
"Good, good, I'm very happy to hear that. I've noticed you since the start of the tournament, and I can see that you're a fine young mage who just needs grooming; that's why I'm here.
To give you a recommendation!"
